The US takes Torino and Milano, but do I need to hold them a whole turn? I suppose we'll find out next turn.

In France we're almost through the Massif Central, and the open plains of France await.

The US builds two infantry corps, the UK one. I didn't think we'd need this many boots on the ground this soon.
Aid to the Soviets start up again, 65 from the US and 60 from the UK. I almost just want to keep it and use it to
push further but the summer wanes...

And this is where I have a big problem with the game. Apparently it is not possible to send aid to Russia while their capital is surrounded.
This begs for a bug fix. I'll leave it at this for now, I assume Moscow will fall next turn.

It mirrors what happened to me with the UK in our game. You will be able to read about it in my AAR one day when you are in Spandau prison. Economy effectively closed for 1 turn, then restarted. Very scary though.

How come it's gone pear-shaped in Russia? He only had 1200pts of Germans a month ago, and many of those seemed to have appeared in the west.

Reply: They already know you're a gamer. What other shame can possibly compare?

It's only in the last couple of turns that anything significant appeared in the west (he really should have stopped me from entering France).

I wore out the Soviets counter-attacking. And I haven't been sending much aid.

Altogether I have not played the Soviets well at all. In my previous games I've had it far too easy playing them, it's good to experience the
pressure of a well-executed Barbarossa.

Turn 79: August 28, 1942

Italian fascists go on suicide attacks in east and west, on land and at sea.

Italy surrenders. A few scattered Axis units remain in Italy.

The Western Allies set up a defensive line in eastern Italy.
In France we once again run circles around the defenders who keep trying to hold a forward line.

Balkans. I'll land division sized units here next turn (can't use the ports this turn).

But the news from Russia is not great, they are at 48% manpower.
Somehow the UK has become the owner of ex-Italian real estate in Russia (a minor bug).

The Allies keep sending aid, and Canada builds a division.

The Axis surrender and the war is over in 1942!

It's been a frantically paced game, a big thanks to battlevonwar for showing me how scary a well-executed Barbarossa can be!
