The first of the destroyed units returned today I got a Mongolian Cav Div and a Motorised Regt back in the north both at 1% TOE but with my pools and supply they will fill out quickly ordered a major shock attack tomorrow in the pocket they either get out or are destroyed either works for me

OK 3 updates

A. He is manouvering around me and I pulled back to Ulan Bator proper to shorten my lines not happy about it but little I can do about it.
B. He is probing the flanks of my Chita position its a game of move and counter move
C. My cut off troops are dead but they are at least tying down a significant number of enemy troops off the rail line

In the south I considered trying to trash a few units on the perimeter but he saw me coming and moved back - no point in wasting supply going after him as there is little worth siezing and it would leave Vladivostok un protected - I still have 1m supply at Vladivostock so it wont fall for years but I doubt there is much I can do with my Southern Army Group

I need to find a way to keep him honest and not give him a free hand in the North.

We are now 2 months into the Soviet war so far apart from running a few subs ontl a newly laid minefield I havent made any major errors - I probably tried to fight a little hard with my AF in the early days but I kept it intact as a threat.

I have a few decisions fast approaching

I really dont want to give up the Chita/Ulan Bator linebut the probing around my flanks in both fronts worries me my second line is Ulan Ude and my 3rd is Irkutsk

I dont want to step back yet but equally I dont want to be retreated or surrounded I can hold for now but I need to carfully watch the pressure build and be ready to pull back in good order if I have to

I would love to still be on the current line in mid 43 but I am more and more becoming convinced that he will go for a full on flanking attack at some stage

I dont get why he is giving me strength in the north every unit he destroys I get back in the North and I have lots of replacements to fill them out - yes they will be weak for a while but it helps me out a lot - I dont get why he didnt just mask Sakhalin with a Bde and keep my units alive

Maybe he wanted the oil now and did not want to wait for it.

On the other hand, I just did read his side of it.

That is a lot of units coming and most of them need to be filled out.

True but I have plenty of devices and supply to fill them out below is the typical TOE of a rifle Div - a MR Div is slightly stronger an Inf Bde slightly weaker

No problems with the infantry. But how about those tanks, armoured cars, artillery, and the motorized support squads? I looked at my game and the tanks stopped coming after about 4 months, those armoured cars don't come in all that fast and with all of the units taking losses that take replacements, eventually you might run low.

There is really nothing I am terribly worried about running short of if I have to reconstitute a few Divisions candidly if there were I would disband a Bde or two out of th Southern pocket to provide the required devices.

So yes it will take a bit of time and the experience level will be low but I suspect there are going to be a few places to gain experience for raw units defending fortifications clearly a reconstituted Div should not be left alone in the line but apart from that caveat i think getting a few units back up north is good for me especially when the soviet 43 squads start coming on line they have serious firepower

Motorised support squads are over 10,000 I think because its one allied shared pool.

My tanks are poor but I have a lot of them....

basically if I get time to hold on avoid getting encircled and taking major losses in my current 3 Armies in the North I will get steadily stronger from this point on until the below arrive in mid 43

Thats 8 Divs and only one arrives at Vladi the rest will arrive in the north that basically doubles my Divisional strength in the north

if I can hold on until relieved my offensive punch becomes significantly stronger at that point I start to worry is 4,200 supplies per day enough to support my late 43 offensive to clear out the rail line and take manchuria
