Re: [1.0.1.8] CTD - Zoom in
I crash when I zoom very fast in or very fast out with my mouse.
I changed my zoom speed in the game setting for 2.00 because I like it very fast.
Hope it's help.

Re: [1.0.1.8] CTD - Zoom in
I too have had several CTD after zooming using the mouse scroll wheel.
I tried turning off all sound as suggested in other threads, but it still crashes.
On startup, DW2 presents as a 2048x1536 upper left carve out of my 2560x1600 display.
I change the settings to display native 2560x1600 before loading a saved game.
Then after some time playing (20-30 minutes) it crashes as I make abrupt/rapid control inputs,
like zoom scrolling quickly, while typing wasd and space bar (pause), to change the map view.
Here's the data for the most recent:
I hope you figure this out soon! I was an avid DW1 player and look forward to continuing the fun with DW2.
which reminds me...
Please bring back the chaining commands feature of DW1 and also provide notifications for when a ship goes idle.
As a mostly manual player, it would streamline play greatly if I didn't have to continually check the explorer and construction ship screens for idle ships. As when the default explore system command gets interrupted by some baddie I have to avoid, I'd like to manually chain the path the explorer would take through a system.
Also a nice feature would be to provide specific remembered map views. perhaps using <ctl><shift><#> to assign and <shift><#> to recall. The closest I can get to that is to <ctl><#> a planet or starbase in the middle of the desired map view and then hit <insert> or <end> keys to get region or system view. Much easier to just remember the map location and zoom setting together in an assigned map view spec assigned to a hotkey. just an idea that would streamline play, at least for me.

Re: [1.0.2.1] CTD - Zoom in
CTD with pretty much same error report as previous versions 1.0.1.8 and 1.0.2.0,
now new and not so much improved in 1.0.2.1.
crashed while on 1x play, paused, scrolling in using mousewheel.

Re: [1.0.1.8] CTD - Zoom in
I've been getting this issue too, including 3 CTDs in 1.0.2.1. I turned lens flare to zero and haven't had the problem since... fingers crossed, this has solved it.
Re: [1.0.1.8] CTD - Zoom in
I had the same issues. Lets see if disabling those helps. Thank you.

Nice find. I'll try it!Nilma wrote: Sun Mar 20, 2022 9:04 am I've been getting this issue too, including 3 CTDs in 1.0.2.1. I turned lens flare to zero and haven't had the problem since... fingers crossed, this has solved it.
Re: [1.0.1.8] CTD - Zoom in
I got something guys!
On my system on 1.0.2.1: If I reduce the flare lens to 0%. I crash automatically when I zoom from Galaxy to any Planet.
I mean every time now!
I need to find a way to put it back to 100% because I can't start the game now... it's always crashing

Re: [1.0.1.8] CTD - Zoom in
Ok I found that I needed to restart my computer to fix the crash caused by the lens flare.
Anyways I found that I got an incredible FPS boost because of it. Civilian ship are better in the galaxy map.
If I zoom in everything is a lot smoother!
I saw one minor hiccup and it's when the game changed the music to another track when I zoomed in or out.
I tried to turn off the music and guess what now I don't have any issues at all for Zoom In and Out.
Well I guess the dev will be happy that has a community we did some testing to find the problem.
I hope it will help dev to pinpoint the problem

Re: [1.0.1.8] CTD - Zoom in
Also the problem appear when the music is playing if you do a zoom out... not only when the music change the track. The music jump (I don't know how to explain) and the zoom out freeze a little and you can continu.
Re: [1.0.1.8] CTD - Zoom in
I'm glad it's working for you!
I have the music turned off, like I do in most games, so I don't know how much it effects zooming in and out, but maybe that makes a difference too?

Just read this. Can you confirm that if you turn the lens flare back on that your FPS drops and you begin to crash? Separately, with the lens flare off, but the music on, that you get crashes on zoom again?firemad wrote: Sun Mar 20, 2022 4:22 pm Ok I found that I needed to restart my computer to fix the crash caused by the lens flare.

Re: [1.0.1.8] CTD - Zoom in
For this point the game doesn't crash and no I don't have any logs. I just heard the sound stopping or jumping but the game continue without any issues. It's like skipping a beat in the music but it happen only when I'm doing a zoom in or out and it isn't all the time just sometime but it is happening frequently. I will test with the latest patch 1.0.2.2 and I will let you know.Erik Rutins wrote: Mon Mar 21, 2022 1:28 pmWas there any crash log you could share for this music/zoom crash?firemad wrote: Sun Mar 20, 2022 4:22 pm I saw one minor hiccup and it's when the game changed the music to another track when I zoomed in or out.

Re: [1.0.1.8] CTD - Zoom in
Patch 1.0.2.2 seem to have corrected my problem with lens flare and the music too. I tried both HDR and Standard and both settings in game work fine. I don't see any difference between HDR and SDR so I left on HDR because it's better for the visual of the game off course.Erik Rutins wrote: Mon Mar 21, 2022 1:27 pmJust read this. Great jobs for your team.
Zoom in and out seem also corrected. I can't report anymore this problem on my system.
