Sumatra:
IJA troops capture Bengkalis with no damage to the 40 oil there.
Borneo:
The one B-17 strike managed to hit some oil, inflicting 1 damage during their nightly raid.
SRA:
IJN Troops come ashore at Puerto Princesa.
I-7 finds a lone allied xAK and puts a torpedo into her side - heavy damage and on fire.
Operation Hamstring:
The remainder of the division came ashore at PM, with a single LSD taking 2 shells from defensive fire. My initial attack at PM was repulsed, but I lowered the forts to level 2 and got 1:1 odds. We inflicted more losses than we received. Another attack has been ordered for tomorrow.
Then a surprise happened - KB ran into an allied combat TF consisting of the Repulse, 2 CAs, 2 CLs and 4 DDs !!! I watched the whole combat and it was nerve wracking. Not sure how it turned out for the allies, but it turned out decent for me.

I have split the Suzuya and Arare off into an escort TF and sent them home. The rest of the KB is moving back north to support PM. I have switched half my Kates to night naval attack and set up some night naval search with float planes. Hoping to catch his surface groups with some air strikes.
An allied sub sunk an xAk leaving Milne Bay heading for Rabaul with half a load of supplies.
The dual BB surface TF bombarded PM inflicting over 200 casualties.
Troops come ashore at Buna.
The initial troops are all offloaded at PM and the valuable invasion TF has withdrawn. Depending on actions this next turn, they will begin to head back to Truk.

Borneo:
Troops landed at Tawau and should capture the empty base tomorrow.
Puerto Princesa is captured.
China:
IJN Ships bombarded Wenchow to aid in the assault.
Naval Bombers from Formosa hammered the airfield at Wenchow shutting down any chance of increasing the fort level.
IJA troops here attacked destroying the last of the enemy forts. A shock attack is ordered for tomorrow - hoping to capture the base.
Undefended Kukong is captured without a fight.
At Pakhoi, our troops attacked inflicting heavy losses on the Chinese unit holding the base. Another attack is planned for tomorrow.
South Pacific:
The heavily damaged LSD from PM decided to go its own direction and ran right into an enemy sub, which hit with one torpedo. The ship is barely floating so I ordered her scuttled.
Buna is captured.
Operation Hamstring:
KB detected no enemy ships during the day or night phase - except half a dozen subs in the area prowling. I have ordered the three fleets here to head south and rejoin.
The troops at PM attacked and lowered the forts to level 1.
I heard sinking noises so I checked Tracker which seems more accurate in lost aircraft and ships than the game and it is listing Repulse as sinking - cause listed as a 46cm shell - I know one of my two Yamatos hit the Repulse at least once during the surface engagement, but not sure that was enough to sink her? If she is sunk, that is great news.

A good day for the Japanese Empire !!!
Burma:
Paratroopers capture Myitkyina
Borneo:
Troops finally arrive at Tandjoengselor and the two enemy base units there surrender.
China:
My TF bombards Wenchow again doing minor damage to the troops there.
Naval Bombers from Formosa hit the troops also inflicting minor damage.
My attack there is once again repulsed. Those Chinese troops in the jungle terrain are dug in deep.
At Nanyang, my troops capture the base just missing the fleeing Chinese.
At Pakhoi we take the base pushing the defenders out to the east.
Operation Hamstring:
After evading several subs - which luckily we spotted first so they didn't get off any shots, all three of my TFs rendevous and prepare to leave the area together.
My troops attack the defenders and push through them capturing the base. The defenders flee to the northwest. PM is mine !!! The base is pretty much wrecked, but we will repair it up. Not sure if I want to expand the airfield much or just build forts. The idea here is mostly to deny the base to the Allies moreso than use it for offensive operations.
The TFs will now attempt to escape the web of enemy submarines and return to Truk.

Tandjoengbalai is captured.
Philippines:
Troops unload at Taytay.
I have approx 300 AS sitting in Bataan with 740 enemy strength. I am simply going to wait and starve them out a bit until Singapore falls and I can pull a couple divisions from there.
IJA troops come ashore at Zamboanga - the next to last enemy held base on Mindanao.
China:
Long-range naval bombers hammer Chinese troops in the open. The last attacked destroyed a couple squads.
Malaya:
My attack here, with the fresh division, inflicted 1500 losses and destroys another unit. We suffered a bit over 3000 losses but knocked the forts back to level 2. I just can't bomb enough to stop the fort building here
South Pacific:
Both Salamaua and Finschhafen are captured against no enemy.

Bombers hit the Chinese unit fleeing from Pakhoi again destroying more squads. Unfortunately it still somehow made it out of the open hex and into the jungle before my troops could engage it
Chinese troops seem faster than normal troops.
South Pacific:
Seven allied CLs, escorted by 3 DDs bombard Port Moresby during the night. The damage was minimal.
Troops come ashore at Lae and Gasmata.
An invasion force escorted by KB is approaching Luganville. I have received several reports on facility building going on there so there must be at least 1 engineering unit there. Also it appears to be some aircraft there now too. A full Brigade will be landing there so they should make quick work of whatever is there unless by some chance Nomad put one of his limited large combat units there as well.

Burma:
Paratroopers capture Katha, opening up the northern rail to Myitkyina.
Malaya:
A deliberate attack at Singapore lowers forts to 1 and costs nearly 4000 losses. Just under 800 are inflicted and another enemy unit destroyed. I have been rotating out units to Johore Bahru as their effective combat strength drops. Last game I took Singapore on March 10th - I was hoping to take it sooner, but looks like we are on par with that performance.
Sumatra:
Padang is captured without a fight.
Java:
Troops for the java invasion are leaving Saigon and CRB. I am debating crossing via barges from Oosthaven or landing somewhere further south to try to cut off Batavia. Possibly somewhere like Buitenzorg or Kalidjati. Both far enough south to cut off Batavia, yet not to close to Soerabaja and the aircraft there. Since I do not have much fighter cover I may use fast attack TFs to land at Buitenzorg and barges at Merak.
Borneo:
The last fleeing enemy unit is run down and wiped out leaving only the survivors from Balikpapan in the jungles. Sampit & Bandjermasin are the last enemy bases on Borneo - they will have to wait until we occupy most of Java.
China:
Naval Bombers hit the fleeing Chinese unit destroying more squads. I am hoping to get one more day of bombing on them before Nomad puts CAP over them. Every day of bombing means 1-2 weeks to recover the losses now that they are losing squads instead of just disabled.
South Pacific:
SS I-7 is ganged up on and damaged near Anatom. She should make it home for repairs.
Lae and Gasmata are captured without a fight.
KB and the Luganville invasion TF is two hexes away. The troops will land during the night, while KB provided cap and protection. My biggest worry is some night action from a combat TF. But with the bulk of the allied cruiser force up near PM - they hit it yesterday - they shouldn't have much in the area. 2 CAs and 3 DDs escort the invasion LSDs.
BTW, Luganville just expanded the port to level 2 for me

Troops come ashore at Culion.
My bombers have begun to hit Bataan. They are coming in at 12k altitude and the flak is minimal. Either there is very little AA there, or their supply is starting to give out.
China:
Naval bombers hit the fleeing chinese unit again unmolested. Another 19 squads destroyed.
Mistake at Luganville:
Well my brigade starting coming ashore right away during the night phase and the escorts fired on the enemy troops there.. It was there that I saw the problem...
CA Kinugasa firing at 35th Infantry Division
106th USN Base Force firing at CA Aoba
CA Aoba firing at 106th USN Base Force
DD Kuri firing at 35th Infantry Division
DD Hasu firing at 35th Infantry Division
My worst case happened - the US put one of its precious divisions there. My Brigade is no match for it. They outnumber me by about 150 Assault Strength.

My bombers hit the 64th Chinese/A Corps again destroying another 21 squads on the fleeing unit in the jungle. I can no longer see the unit so I am not sure if I destroyed it or not. I am leaning towards destroyed as all the aircraft targetting the unit changed their targets to Commander Decision - which means the target is no longer there.
Malaya:
My bombing of the Singapore airfield seems to be going better now. Perhaps some of those units that were destroyed were enemy AA units.
Philippines:
My bombing at Bataan does not seem to be doing much. Though to be honest I am only using 1 sentai of decent bombers (Sallies) and the rest are single engine old aircraft (Sonia, Ida, etc...).
South Pacific:
I was able to reload the entire Brigade at Luganville and KB and invasion TF have been ordered to rejoin and head north. I was worried Nomad would attack and inflict some damage. But I guess the 3:2 advantage in AS wasn't enough for him.

The constant bombing has damaged the airfield and no new forts will be built for a while. The last air attacks met very little flak so they will continue until the enemy airfield is 70% or so damaged and then we will switch to enemy troops.
Philippines:
My air strikes at Bataan are starting to damage the airfield there preventing fort building.
China:
Bombers have switched to hitting the Chinese troops at Kwangchowan - it appears to be the B Regiment from the same division we bombed into oblivion. The unit is in the open and we are inflicting good damage on it.
SRA:
Zeros from Sorong swept Ambon preparing the way for the invasion next turn. Car Div 3 is escorting the invasion force and they will be moving within 2 hexes this turn so they can unload completely next turn at target.
South Pacific:
KB and the Luganville invasion TF have escape and are slowly heading north. Several ships in both TFs are low on fuel so we might have a problem making it back to Truk without refueling.

Bombers hit Singapore troops and airfield to prevent fort building and to support the attack. The bombers actually target the 9th Indian Division which is 90% of the defense of Singapore at this point.
A shock attack is always a risky proposition and unless I have overwhelming firepower it usually proves bad for me but this time it worked out. Not sure if it was lack of defender's supply, their weariness from the fight, or the bombers actually hitting combat units this time. But when the IJA troops charged the defensive positions of the British they simply crumpled and we took the base. Over 53,000 enemy troops were killed or taken prisoner - 27 units wiped out. Our losses were just over 2600 in the attack.
Singapore now bears the Rising Sun over it !!! I was very much surprised by how little damaged the base was after all the fighting. Only 1 ManPower and 1 Heavy Industry was damaged - everything else was taken intact including the Repair Yards !!
I have ordered the lone DMS from Palembang to begin clearing mines from Singapore port but it will probably take a few days.

Bombers hit the Chinese at Kwangchowan in preparation of my ground assault. My Regiment here smashes the Chinese unit destroying it - it had 1 AS thanks to all the bombing !! Kwangchowan and its 400 resources a day are mine now.
SRA:
Troops land at Boela. Time to grab these two small oil producers now that Ambon is neutralized. This aren't high priority bases, but between Boela and Babo there is 450 oil and 400 resources a day. They are good size for the small TFs consisting of a single PB and 2 1250ton TKs to haul the oil to Sorong and then larger TKs from there to Babel and the home islands.
South Pacific:
KB and the failed Luganville invasion TF return to Truk and are unloading / refueling / rearming. Once KB repairs up she will head off to support the invasion of Java and the islands north of Oz. Once Java (mostly Soerabaja) is mine we will move to the next stage.

Another 68 mines cleared today from Singapore.
Java:
Troops from Oosthaven moving to Merak in barges run into a minefield and 5 of the 10 barges are sunk
I considered there might be one, but didn't have any sweepers in the area so I risked the barges...
