OZ:
I have spotted some allied amphibs at a dot base on the NE portion of Oz for the last couple turns so I decided to check it out. Unfortunately my TF was spotted last turn and the ships all fled. But I stayed and bombarded the dot base finding members of C Regiment of the 3rd Australian Division there. For those that wonder, the dot base is Gove.

Marshall Islands:
The B-25s are back at hitting the naval fortress at Maloelap.

No combat events this turn.

The last bunch of cruisers and destroyers are in repair yards for their 4/43 upgrades and other ships are getting some r&r time while their ships repair off some normal wear and tear. My newest CV is in the yards at Nagasaki getting her latest upgrade as well. In two weeks I will receive another CV and a CVL - the CVL comes with Sams !!!

B-25s hit my Naval Fortress at Maloelap again.
B-24s hit my airfield at Roi-Namur. They did some good damage to the airfield but didn't catch any of the fly planes. I wonder if they coded it so you have to hit the port to get them? Would make sense to me, but not sure AE is that granular.

For some reasons I can never get Sams super early. But I have Franks.

Frank r : Arrived May 1st, 1943
Sam: Should arrive mid July 1943
Shinden: Won't arrive until Feb 1944. I have only put two R&D factories into this plane.

These Atolls are hard to defend. Several had level 6 forts but they didn't seem to help much. Glad I pulled all of the troops out of here.

SRA:
KB arrives off the dot-base Gove and launches not even a half strike against the enemy warships there. I was very unhappy with the performance here. One there was no morning strike and the afternoon strike was less than half my available bombers - a total of 82 bombers launched. The TF has nearly 200 bombers. Why wouldn't you launch everything you had against spotted enemy BBs ?? I don't think I will ever understand the CV strike logic.

Afternoon Air attack on TF, near Gove at 82,127

Weather in hex: Light rain

Raid detected at 151 NM, estimated altitude 20,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 56 minutes

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 54
B5N2 Kate x 38
D3A1 Val x 44

Japanese aircraft losses
B5N2 Kate: 19 damaged
B5N2 Kate: 5 destroyed by flak
D3A1 Val: 14 damaged
D3A1 Val: 5 destroyed by flak

Allied Ships
BB New Mexico, Bomb hits 1, Torpedo hits 1
DD Eaton, Bomb hits 1, on fire
BB Mississippi, Bomb hits 4, on fire

The bomb hits on the BBs all bounced off armor, but several took out some AA gun clusters. So that will be longer in repair than pure sys damage.

Marine troops come ashore at the dot-base Ailuk and capture it. Not sure why he is landing here - the base is worthless.

SRA:
I moved my CVs east hoping to catch the enemy BBs fleeing east as well, but they obviously went to flank speed and disappeared to the neast. I did spot some enemy ships at Merauke but the CVs decided not to launch any strikes today. I really give up understanding this. Nothing else is spotted, I don't care if its a lonely old 100ton xAKL - launch a damn strike at it. Maybe not sent torpedoes but the CVs carry hundreds of bombs and never get low, so waste them.

An allied TF bombards Roi-Namur inflicting a lot of damage. Luckily the base force there has 200 squads so they can absorb a lot of damage.

Marine Paratroopers come ashore at Bikini Atoll and capture it. A bit odd for paratroopers to come ashore like normal troops.

B-24s bomb my troops at Roi-Namur again.
