Baby Kido Butai operates near Manado. I have to retreat to safety again. Since I have enough PP I try to download every available unit. About half of the defenders have been boarded from Manado, but I fear the ships will be sunk. Japanese reconnaissance discovered them.
I tried to surprise the enemy in North China, but I can't do it in Kweisui or Paotow. He's brought in reinforcements and I'd rather try to retreat. The two main attacks will apparently be directed at Changha and Nanyang.
A convoy of five ships from Hong Kong was sunk

Air losses (J:A) - 4:2

Re: Pacific Inferno - Variant game Godefroy(A) vs Deaniks(J) - no Deaniks

Post by godefroycz »

Unfortunately, work and personal workloads do not allow me to make a regular report right now. In addition, the game runs very fast, so at least some summary.

Overall, it is again cautious from the Japanese side. This time Pearl Harbor is not the main target and therefore no battleships were sunk. The two least damaged ones have even already sailed to the West Coast and are undergoing repairs there. As in the first game, the opponent is not yet using the potential of his air force and is trying to have as few losses as possible.

There is total peace in Burma. I've deployed my troops to all bases to prevent the Japanese landing and I'm just waiting to see what happens next.

In Malaya, the opponent adjusted his tactics a bit and his Mersing Gambit was better executed this time. Nevertheless, most of the units managed to withdraw to Singapore and I will defend myself here. All the units that remained on the peninsula have already been destroyed, and only the lonely Kuantan remains.
Following previous experiences, the enemy waited for my convoy with the British 18th Division and sank it in its entirety. The report says so. ;-) Otherwise, I think the Japanese are making the same mistake as last time. No quick insults to Palembang, not even blocking my ships. We'll see what the next few days bring.

Also a standard course in the Philippines. Luzon is in Japanese hands, I'm only defending at Clark Field and Bataan. In Mindanao, the Japanese landed on the first day in Cagayan to destroy my damaged B-17s. Luckily I managed to evacuate them. But Mindanao is lost. I defend myself in the mountains inland, but I won't last long.

The whole of December was quiet in the Pacific. The Japanese occupied traditional targets such as Manus, Rabaul. Lae, Shortland and Tulagi. I have withdrawn everything possible to Port Moresby, but I do not expect to keep it.

Image

In addition, intelligence brought me information that the invasion fleet was headed for New Caledonia. It's possible that cutting off or even occupying Australia will be the main Japanese objective in this game, as I picked up oil and refineries for points.

On the last day, KB appeared near New Zealand without anyone seeing. This will hurt me as there are many APs and TKs anchored in Auckland. I'll try to get them out, but I don't expect to succeed. But they are just empty ships. The enemy has no idea how close he was to greater success.

Finally, China. The fighting is only beginning slowly, but the Japanese have cleared Ichang and all rapidly available troops are marching on Changsha. I managed to stop them in front of the city and I am building fortifications. Nothing is happening in the direction of Sian so far and my troops are quietly retreating to better terrain.
