AVP's : Current Load 0 of 0 ?
After looking at this game for years, I purchased over the holidays and I'm in the middle of Day 1 set up using Kulls' spreadsheet while watching Strategy Gaming Dojo's "Lets Play" series...Patch Beta 1126b and am halfway through the 1st day setup.
My one only current question is that Kull's spreadsheet mentions certain AVP's to dock and load supplies. Most of my AVP's (if not all) have a current load of 0 of 0 so I can't load any supplies??
Load Supplies (and fuel) is greyed out, while the Port's has ample of both.
What am I missing? Why can't I load supplies?

Re: AVP's : Current Load 0 of 0 ?
Greetings Taipan61 and welcome to the game. The best way to load a tender (any of them, but also the AVP) is to ensure the ship is disbanded into a port with supplies. Then click on that ship which will open the ship's information screen and toward the middle bottom there is a button that reads "Load Tender", hit that and the ship will load the max it can hold OR the max the port can provide in one turn, whichever comes first. You could also put the ship into a cargo convoy and have it "load supplies" but that is more cumbersome (but amounts to the same thing). Finally, if the ship is disbanded into a port that has supplies and you open the port icon displaying the port and all the ships docked or anchored, there's a "Load Tenders" button there too, but if that's used, ALL the tenders in the port will load, and you may not want all of that. Good luck. Hal
Re: AVP's : Current Load 0 of 0 ?
A little correction to Dr. HAL's post:
- clicking on the "Load Tender" button only confers one phase of loading i.e. 12 hours worth.
- docking the tender (I put them in a Support TF) and ordering "load supply" will give you the full day's worth of loading if there are no interruptions.
On the question of why you cannot load them during turn setup, remember that the Surprise at game start means the Allies cannot do anything with their ships (other than those already at sea) until after the first turn is run. You can leave those AVPs in the docked TF and load them on turn 2. If the Load Tender button gives them a full load in one phase, you can give them orders to deploy wherever immediately.

Re: AVP's : Current Load 0 of 0 ?
That is not correct. If you play the historical 1st turn then nobody can do anything other than watch. With only surprise on then the Allies can do anything thay want it's just they shouldn't, otherwise it's not a surprise. I'm playing the latest version but I think it's always been like that. House rule number one comes into play here.BBfanboy wrote: Thu Jan 12, 2023 5:23 am ...

To my mind the programming is in error, the ability for the Allies to give orders on turn one should be bypassed if surprise is on.
Re: AVP's : Current Load 0 of 0 ?
Thanks Guys for the posts but no further advanced.
Looking at the AVP's both have a cargo capacity zero, hence (I guess) why I am getting the above error message.

Using the Dec 8th scenario, so it is after the PH bombing. On the question of why you cannot load them during turn setup, remember that the Surprise at game start means the Allies cannot do anything with their ships (other than those already at sea) until after the first turn is run
After clicking this, all the other Tenders in port (besides the two AVP's) loaded supplies.there's a "Load Tenders" button there too, but if that's used, ALL the tenders in the port will load,
Port has 49480 supplies. When I click on this I get a message reading "Unable to load tender"."Load Tender", hit that and the ship will load the max
Load supply is greyed out, so I can't load supplied the conventional way(I put them in a Support TF) and ordering "load supply" will give you the full day's worth of loading if there are no interruptions

Re: AVP's : Current Load 0 of 0 ?
You are showing the task force screen and not the actual ship. But in my game testing the new beta, that ship does carry up to 210 units of supplies. It can support 6 aircraft of the appropriate type but t can not operate any while underway.Taipan61 wrote: Sat Jan 14, 2023 12:43 am Thanks Guys for the posts but no further advanced.

Odd. Even a task force screen should display capacity; 210/0. Whether it's set up as a cargo or support TF it should show.

Re: AVP's : Current Load 0 of 0 ?
Cheers
At least I know I'm not missing something bleeding obvious. Had me questioning myself
All AVP's in the game are the same...0 of 0.

Using SeaBee, and the file the shortcut is pointing to:
\War in the Pacific\Beta2\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe
Am I running the wrong EXE file?

Re: AVP's : Current Load 0 of 0 ?
All other tenders seem unaffected.

It sure looks like that AVP doesn't have any cargo space to load!
Re: AVP's : Current Load 0 of 0 ?
Have you tried a support TF? Sometimes a support ship is used for an escort in other TF types and in that case it won't load supplies. If you are comfortable with the editor, go in and check the cargo capacity of those ships....GP
I assume that you are using scenario 1. What version? 1126b or 1127....GP

Yeah tried a Support TF. Same issue

That's not good. I'm wondering if an AVP with a cargo rating of zero could still support seaplanes. Just out of curiosity what do the AVPs look like in the other Grand Campaign scenarios in your current install? Scenario one in particular.

Your version of the game does seem a bit dated. Below is the current number from the beta with a July 2022 stamp. Doesn't really explain the discrepancy though. Even in older versions of the game, Pollux and all other AVPs have a cargo capacity of some kind.Taipan61 wrote: Sat Jan 14, 2023 3:01 am Yeah tried a Support TF. Same issue

Re: AVP's : Current Load 0 of 0 ?
Scenario 1 is the same...0 of 0 for all the AVP's. Looking more and more like a dodgy initial install of the game.Just out of curiosity what do the AVPs look like in the other Grand Campaign scenarios in your current install? Scenario one in particular.

The ironic thing is I was purposely avoiding 1127 as it was a newly released beta, and I wanted to stay clear of any potential problem like exactly this.
Ok, moving forward.....
I'm guessing there is no saved game editor, or work around available to create cargo space for these AVPs? Since I am now 90% through Kull's spreadsheet, I really don't think I could face doing the set up again with a fresh install.
How important is the AVP's to the game? Is this just a minor speed bump to my game, and the non-supply of these planes via AVP's will be just nothing more than an inconvenience, or is big bad news for my saved game?

Re: AVP's : Current Load 0 of 0 ?
The Allies get oodles of aviation support LCUs in the course of the game. Not to mention a large number of AVs and AVDs. Given the vast amount of work that you have put into completing Kull's spreadsheet I would try to proceed. I think most of the AVPs are Dutch and I doubt most players really lean on them for hauling cargo. I notice in the image of the Pollux that you posted it still shows a air support capacity of six, so maybe it'll still support float and sea planes. You might try disbanding an AVP into a port by itself and seeing if that base shows an aviation support number with a +6.Taipan61 wrote: Sat Jan 14, 2023 6:29 am

Besides, you can only edit user-created scenarios, and even then what you can edit after a game has started is rather limited.
Hopefully, there are no other surprises lurking in the database.

Re: AVP's : Current Load 0 of 0 ?
Appreciate your insight. Thank-you.. I'll try the disband idea when I play a few game days.
