New user of C:PE. I wound up here from following the link in the manual.

Never mind. I see that it created the files on the desktop.

Next question: Is it possible to make a layer part of a scenario? i.e. To load a layer at the start of a game - or maybe even in response to an event? (A quick look through the Lua docs didn't turn up anything obvious.)

You can use https://commandlua.github.io/assets/Fun ... hment.html to attach it. If you search the forums you should find some info on how to use it. This is a link to a tutorial for CMANO, but the workflow should be fundamentally the same.

Thank you. That tutorial was very helpful.

I had actually looked at UseAttachment() but wasn't sure how it applied.
I did have a problem with the image names, though. The GMap.NET generated image names are very long with spaces and underscores in them. Using the raw name failed, but changing it to a short simple name worked.

UPDATED AGAIN!! Fixed the new issue, sorry about that guys!
Hello , I dowcloaded gmap from your link, but it said there was no Internet connection and going to cache mode , I other words, it didn't work .:(((

Is there a modified version of this link or a updated version?? It seemed so straight away and simple, it's a shame it's not working

Gmap is dead. You should be using either QGIS or SAS.Planet for custom overlays. I'd recommend QGIS, it's way less janky and professional.

I agree with Kushan. You should be using either QGIS or SAS.Planet for custom overlays. I regularly use QGIS. There might be a bit of a learning curve. If all you want to do is create custom overlays you should be able to start making them fairly quickly. There might some instructions already posted to the forum covering how to get started with QGIS.

If you don't want to down QGIS road SAS.Planet is also a good choice, but if those don't interest you GMAP does still kind of work. While it is pretty easy to use it is clunky.

When GMAP starts it defaults to cache mode; you need to connect to data via the internet. So let it start and select ServerOnly in in the mode box under the GMAP menu. Once you've done that you need to find the imagery/map type you like that covers your area of interest. IIRC Bing Satellite Map pretty much has imagery available for the entire globe, but it is dated. All the other selections have limited coverage for particular areas or are no longer supported/available. Bing Satellite Map is all I have ever used with GMAP. Once you get your map and area of interest follow the directions that hopefully you already have to complete the process. Good luck.
