A clear victory for the multiple small task force tactic...and also it seems to me having large warships fight in coastal waters is always an invitation to close in knife fights with torpedoes. I don't think I could have made that fight any easier for Japan. Sigh.

Intense action there.
Eventually, the IJN is going to miss those 2 CAs more than the allies will miss those capital ships sunk.
your F6Fs seem to be doing very well
i don't understand the jap air in this game. I've never found a good use for any oscar, early tojo or earlier tony and the zero 5b and 5c may be better but i never noticed. I never even bother building any of them any more.

Japan has managed to get quite a few troops into Tourane...and I don't know what is coming at Vinh. Battambang is just a handful of paratrooper squads that will retreat to a stiff wind.
Plus, given yesterdays debacle, I guess we can expect a full KB strike? At the very least another full attack by his surface ships with 250 fighters from Luzon and another 250 from Cam Ranh Bay for LRCAP.
Decision time, Truebelievers....
We are still strong and this is not the time to go wobbly. Turn negatives into positives....thats my motto.
Plus, there is a big enemy tanker convoy somewhere west of Cam Ranh Bay....had a sub contact the other day.

IJ Air is PDU off...so we are flying poor models by game design. I still have plenty of Wildcats in the Deathstar for example. I think there are like 2 George or Jack squadrons available now...but it is the Zero and Oscar tree until Sam and Frank unlock and not everything can be upgraded to the latest models.
I believe that is the first USN battleship sunk....no Pearl strike.

Thanks for the clarification on the PDU. I always forget that for some reason. Do you have to wait very long before you can get better fighters for your CVs?Lowpe wrote: Wed Apr 12, 2023 12:18 pmYeah, I agree....RADM.Yamaguchi wrote: Wed Apr 12, 2023 12:10 pm Intense action there.

The Marine squadrons will eventually get the Corsair I believe...10/43. Then 7/44 for the Hellcat 5.
Playing a game with PDU off actually makes you a better player I think...cause you have to really figure out each frames strengths and weakness. However, it is a royal pain, especially for Japan.

Re: Spanking Lowpe (NJP72 vs Lowpe (A))
Accidentally left this bombardment squadron on remain on station...it did have some heavy LRCAP...but probably not many squadrons could make the trip. But Japan has pulled out most strength from Burma for Cam Ranh Bay and Luzon.

Lowpe, thank you for the explanations. I still have a long way to go to understand the game. PDU off is probably a long way off for me. I'll let the other posters comment now as they finally wake up. It's already 8:30 AM EST.

Great Action! I appreciate your lack of caution. At this stage of the game, ally players often use a very boring and slow application of overwhelming force. This is a lot more entertaining as a spectator. Is it more fun for you? Any thought of posting the replays on YouTube?

I have plenty of caution, but I do make mistakes!

First time as the Allies, and it is a lot of work moving things forwards, picking prep, etc., etc. Swimming in so many units.
Re: Spanking Lowpe (NJP72 vs Lowpe (A))
Everybody makes mistakes, some people name them!
Even though you lost the naval battles on the last turn, overall you are now positioned to break Burma, Thailand, and Malaya away from easy reinforcements and withdrawl. So I would call the operation a success. Maybe if you could have pulled back one turn sooner . . .
Instead of going up into China so much, you could move forward towards China for defense but stab Thailand in the back plus cut off the Malay peninsula. So many options if you can just reinforce without losing too much doing so.

Seek peace but keep your gun handy.

Worth mentioning that this is a minor stumble in what has been a typically brilliant Lowpe attack right up into the belly of the Empire
As long as he doesn't suffer a catastrophic carrier defeat, then the Empire is doomed long before 1945
Superb play again Mr Lowpe, you are a shining light that all us Allied players try to match!

Our withdrawl from Quinhon this day seems to go correctly....the sitrep after midnight:
sinking sounds heard....

During the Day:

Looking pretty good in the Sulu Sea...troopers keep arriving in great numbers.
Re: Spanking Lowpe (NJP72 vs Lowpe (A))
Our supply line has been pretty safe lately....just need to watch out for strange AI routings.

Thank you for responding to my questions. I look forward to seeing how the Vietnam landing plays out.
WITP AE is unique in scope and time. It is the only strategic game I know of where the land, sea and air elements are of almost equal importance.
Some players emphasize the game component. Other players emphasize the historical simulation aspect. Your game seems to be in a sweet spot in the middle.
