Jochen Heiden's Scenario 1.5 for Version .26B

Post by BananaConvention »

Good Day!

I've been working on a Scenario "1.5" for a couple weeks, which basically tries to strike a middle ground between the sparseness of Scenario 1 and the front-loaded and top-heavy Scenario 2 for Japan. In addition, I was able to work in some basic quality of life changes that potentially benefit both sides of the campaign. I've got the files to a state that I would like to share with everyone here for honest feedback. If you would like to take a look at my changes, please download the attached .rar file. The files go into this folder (assuming a default installation):

C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\SCEN

Please note this Scenario is intended for Version .26B on stock, non-extended maps. It's a variation of Scenario 2. A change log is included in the .rar file but I will also post it here for your review. I look forward to your honest feedback. I am striving to find a "best of both worlds" alternative to Scenario 2 which I feel is way too generous to the Japanese player.

Scen 001 is the historical GC scenario of stock WITP:AE.
Scen 002, in its official blurb in the scenario selection screen, says "Please note this is a fullwar ahistoric scenario".

Just add the caveat "Please note this is a fullwar ahistoric scenario" to your scenario blurb, to avoid confusion among players.

I’ll tidy up the descriptions and photos later on, but for now I am interesting in fixing the scenario itself and am not worried about that stuff as much. All of that stuff is just a placeholder for now.

I don't know what Witpchk is, so I did not run it. I find 27B patch to be an unmitigated disaster, I don't run and I don't advocate using it at this time. This Scenario is designed for Version 26B of the game. I'll take a look at your findings.

The 1126b Update does not update any scenario. Which scenario 2 did you use as base?
The one from this link maybe?

https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 8&t=340021

If unsure, maybe you could upload the original 02 scenario your mod is based on?

Thank's

I based it off the Scenario 2 that is stock and unedited from installing the base game, 26A and 26B updates. The bone stock one that most all of us would normally use.

Ok well, that's what most of us are playing, that "2010" Scenario 2. I did base my mod off of it. I do appreciate you running that cool Check program, I've never heard or seen anything of it before. I will comb through there and fix the devices that actually need to be fixed, though a I would say about 80/90% of those potential errors don't have any significant impact on the game.

You should join my Discord. I could use your help with scenario editing there.

It's located in the tools folder of the WITPAE main game directory. There is also a readme text document there on how to use it.

Hmmm. Odd. The files are in my tools folder but then I recently had to install WITPAE again back in November to set it up on my new computer.

I just looked in my old computer and as you two described it's not there in the game's tools folder. The only file there is witpstaff.I wonder if it's some recent addition. :?

Update: Going by this post from morphin in December I think witpchkAE may have been added to the game in the beta.

Run it first on scen 001 to see what are designed errors and why. Then run it on your mod. My first time I ran it on my mod, I had just under 30,000 errors ... ooops!!
