Highlights: KB damaged more tankers
Bases lost or won:
Long Island is occupied by the Japanese - NYC next?
Quang Ninh is occupied by the Allies
Allied ships sunk:
xAK Van Waerwyck is reported to have been sunk near Cocos Islands on Mar 27, 1942
CL Enterprise is reported to have been sunk near Pamekasan on Feb 04, 1942
Northern Area:
An enemy submarine has laid mines at Shikuka but local forces promptly detected and cleared them.
China / Korea / Manschukuo:
At Handan, a DA by a IJA Security division with tank support failed to dislodge the Chinese Corps which is holding open the door for the retreating East Coast garrison. More IJA forces are on the way to help slam the door shut.
PI:
Just the usual bombings and bombardments of besieged Manila. AA still heavy, I'm wondering where the supplies are coming from?
DD Oyashio in ARD Meyungs at Legaspi - that DD has been damaged in the first week of the war, made Legaspi with 80 major float damage and survived. I didn't want to risk a voyage to a repair yard with that damage level, so one of the very few ARDs got towed to Legaspi once the area was free of enemy air assets and the DDs has spent several weeks under repair. Currently at 30 major float damage and repairing a point almost every day, I think I will just leave him in the ARD to finish repairs.
Malaya/Burma:
The 3rd Thai Division at Hsi-hseng in Central Burma is in its death throes, with an adjusted defense of 1 this turn it is unlikely it will survive another attack.
DEI:
Minesweepers are busy clearing Soerabaja.
SS I-160 hits Mine VH Mk II at Merak - who gave those stupid orders to pass via Sunda Strait?!?
Japanese Ships Bombarding enemy troops at Samarinda - remnants of the Tarakan garrison retreating south have arrived at that base which only had a lone SNLF company as garrison. An emergency airlift of a Naval Guard unit and naval support helped defeat a desperate shock attack by the Dutch.
B-17s night-bombed Soerabaja and scored a runway hit.
KB operating near Cocos Island sank an xAK and damaged two tankers which most likely won't make it back to base.
Australia/PNG:
E13A1 Jake-Suitei sighting report: 5 Allied ships at 98,130 near Port Moresby , Speed 11 , Moving Northeast. Reinforcements for PM, but there is little I can do about it. Not enough air assets available to overwhelm enemy CAP at PM, but more subs have been shifted from the wide empty ocean between New Zealand, New Caledonia and Victoria up to Queensland.
Intel:
Previous report of sinking of CA Chester incorrect. Intelligence reports ship is still in service.
Other remarks:
Low garrison leads to damage and 1 VP loss from partisan attack at Kaoping (89, 42)!
Low garrison leads to damage and 1 VP loss from partisan attack at Zhongxian (84, 47)!
Low garrison leads to damage and 1 VP loss from partisan attack at Ruichang (85, 52)!
Low garrison leads to damage and 1 VP loss from partisan attack at Sanming (84, 59)!
Each turn I lose VPs because bases flipped to Japanese control after the Chinese "Civil Administration" units which should prevent such flips died - either by starvation or because I left bombers on "commander discretion" by accident. These Admin units seem to be too brittle, I will give them a few more devices in the next mod update.
