Axis Turn 3 dilemma

Post by MonkeyBrain3 »

:(

Well, I have now on Axis turn 3 and one question....

Do you wait for infantry to catch up or do you let loose all panzers and motos to make some more encirclements?

I have made almost perfect (by my account) turn 1 and turn 2 - I think that tempo is much important on those first turns and to damage Red Army as much as possible.

Now, there is a problem at AGN and more so AGC - infantry will be khm ready for next turn attack but is it better to rest panzers and motorised infantry?

Khm.... What to do next? ๐Ÿ˜

Another thing I let AI do its things for Air but I have moved fighters to Riga and Minsk, for the love of Gods I cannot learn Air War to run it all manually. I mean I could in Dantes 9th Circle of Hell hehe.... Medal to whoever came up with that "torture" :D

Not qualified to give advice, but I think screenshots will help you get better feedback. In the abstract, I would suspect pushing your advantage while you still can is the play. Dante's ninth circle is for treason/betrayal (which is why Judas and Brutus are there), which I think is not what you mean. Probably you mean the third ring of the seventh circle, for violence against God, Art, and Nature (which is why usurers are there).

Hah ๐Ÿ˜
Cannot do screenshots as alas I lost Internet on this laptop (long story heh)....

You are right about Dante ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿธ

I will follow your advice Colonel Kahawa ๐Ÿค ๐Ÿ‘น๐ŸŒ›

So, Guderian ordered all fuel to the tanks! All Ju52 resuply, we cannot allow Ruskies to catch the balance ๐Ÿ‘น

But, great game, very addictive. Oh, those I-15 and I-16 are falling like apples....

Here are some tips from my side:
- don't be afraid to temporarily motorize your Infantry Divisions (especially the ones arriving on between T3 and T5) to bring them up fast to the frontline.
- try to push as deep as you possibly can within the first 5 turns, as the AI will get a bit aggressive after T5 (especially if you play with an AI Morale > 120).
- learn how to micromanage the Luftwaffe. Send the bomber AGs back to Berlin/Vienna/Frankfurt and just keep your recon and fighters on the frontline, at least throughout 1941. I know, it's a pain and I have two tutorials dedicated to this topic (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXdYG8GuExk and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4ucdt0ycws).
- rotate at leasts 1 whole Army Corps in each Army (keep 3-4 divisions within friendly controlled hex to maximise the CPP regain)
- consider transfering Infantry Divisions to your Assault Armies. Therefore, you could punch with the infantry and exploit the gaps with your motorized forces.
- DO NOT overload the command chain for whatever reason, or the boni of your Assault HQ will be gone.

Thank you very much to both of you guys that is really useful informations, game is not so complicated but it has those small things that are in fact not so small - and frankly I am not the master of this game.
But hey this game is masterpiece, one of those "easy to play, hard to master" games so I really appreciate your advices!

๐Ÿธ๐Ÿ‘
I have read all AAR's - they are truly great source of information for new players. My hat is off to all who wrote them. Thank you!

I'M GLAD you asked this. I am usually pretty overwhelmed by t3-t4 in the South and Center. I do not know how everyone brings up their infantry so quickly in AARs when closing all those pockets. AGN is prob the easiest for me as i have a very clear idea of how to surround Leningrad. But the gap between AGC and AGS in the Pripyat marshes i always mess up. I either put to many or to little units there and far so far behind the historic progress.

My current game I am at 1.8 million Soviets disabled at t7 and i am reorganizing my army for another large push, but it just takes WEEKS! ugh.

Haha, thank you! I like to hear experience of other players.

LoL when playing this game you could actually FEEL how is it to be Halder, Rommel, Guderian, Hoth, Manstein and whatever....

I try to visualize the front - I try to cover it more or less evenly but of course I dont send Panzers to the Pripyat marshes - but as a guidamce I think that more or less is good to have at least INF corp operating on important road/axes, of course sometimes even much more but 1 division to cover less important roads is also essential even for more speedy clearing of Pripyat - I could be wrong - but once front widens it is hard to cover all important axes of advance adequatly...

Some value Velikie Luky much more than Gomel or some Dnepr crossing it is a matter of style as well.
Divisions can get tangled a bit as sometimes you must support North or South Axis of advance but you stall Centre - I am talking about more local set piece battles ;- it is important I think that after the battle you spread our units again. Commitment of reserves also is like little study but game is not so slow by nature so players dont think too much - where to send the unit - because obviously there is never enough reserve available while front is moving too fast forward.

I think that you are doing fine.

I am ar turn 3 but it is middle of turn, so I must finish at least majority of pocket south of Lavov - I hope that I will end around 1 million Soviet disabled by turn end - more or less. With that result I am satisfied but Turn 4 - again I must make some good encirclement - thats why this dilemma - infantry will be in position for big battle for Dnieper, Velikie Luky, Dnepr, and around Pskov but low on CPP and if I attack with panzers and moto they will be also in a worse state but Soviets will raise Fort level and bring reserves ... Hmmm... I will see but will leave few Saves just in case to try other variant - resting of panzers one turn only.

ps. what is maybe important for turn 3 is not to plan to shattter almost all front at the same time but to keep AI off balance to encircle just few sections of the front - now that is maybe a problem because then maybe AI will pull back some sectors and you will end up with smaller pockets on Turn 4. Hmmm.

Good luck with your game! ๐Ÿ—ฝโ˜ ๏ธ๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿฅถ๐Ÿ‘น๐Ÿ˜€

Yes.
Weil, I decided to wait for infantry bit bagged 20 Soviet divisions in the South.
I must bring Soviets down, they are again on the rise. (more than 3 mil.)

Semi back(Mother & Father not doing well), but thank you.

It is a fine line I would say when playing a real player of how far to push while covering your flanks. Against the AI you can get away with it I would say. But someone that plays the AI can answer better than I for sure.

Having lost my sister to cancer in 2020. She was only 51. So, I have now only father (81) but he is very vital man.

A genius chess player, once Champion of Baden Wirtemberg state and he designed in Festo, Tiger valve. He is now writing a book on pneumatics, robotics. He designed scores of robots, mini factories themselves.
But in Chess he is marvelous. He knows Sicilian Defense opening till 12 moves. He also accepted offered draw by one Grandmaster.

I, myself, am not great chess player but I have studied Bobby Fischer, and I am Grandmaster in TOAW lol ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Urgh, red devils in heavy forest ๐Ÿ‘น๐Ÿ‘น๐Ÿ‘น we will avoid that. Now , would be tricky, we will just make as much encirclements as possible!

Somehow South is always the place to deal considerable damage to Soviets - due to terrain - hmmm getting a breakthrough will be tough between Gomel and Pskov - but it is now or never. Somehow there is ton of Soviet bombers and I lose 500 Wehrmacht soldiers....blah....Maybe I will again to spread my divisions argh.
It's getting tougher.
