Question re Opponent Replay
Looks really interesting. Key question for me. Will it have replay of opponents turn?
Re: Question re Opponent Replay
After the orders phase, the turn will play out just like it does in War in the Pacific. Is that what you're asking?....GPredboot wrote: Mon Sep 29, 2025 11:45 am Looks really interesting. Key question for me. Will it have replay of opponents turn?

Re: Question re Opponent Replay
Apologies. I missed this response and realize that I wasn't very clear. I mean that when playing WitE2 in PBEM mode, the opponent’s turn is not replayed like it is when you play the AI. That ultimately soured me on the game and I was wondering if this new game might change that state of affairs.
Re: Question re Opponent Replay
Ok, so you do your orders for your units, then your opponent does his and then the turn is executed.redboot wrote: Mon Oct 13, 2025 4:40 pm Apologies. Against the AI you do your orders and the you execute the turn.
I hope this helps. It's a fantastic game....GP

Re: Question re Opponent Replay
My specific question is: When you open your opponent's turn in PBEM in War in Spain, will you get a replay of his turn? You do not in Grigsby's titles.
Re: Question re Opponent Replay
This is not a Grigsby title. Both players do their orders and then the turn is resolved.redboot wrote: Wed Oct 15, 2025 11:02 am My specific question is: When you open your opponent's turn in PBEM in War in Spain, will you get a replay of his turn? You do not in Grigsby's titles.

Re: Question re Opponent Replay
I know it's not a Grigsby title, but it uses the same engine. I'm trying to find out if you will get a replay of your opponent's turn (unlike in Grigsby titles) when you open his file. Does anyone know the answer?
Re: Question re Opponent Replay
Yes, you have a combat replay each turn: air, land and sea. Although you can´t see the movements of enemy units if you don´t detect them (FoW)redboot wrote: Wed Oct 15, 2025 12:20 pm I know it's not a Grigsby title, but it uses the same engine. Re: Question re Opponent Replay
I'm so pleased to hear that! PBEM just doesn't play well (IMHO) without a replay. My only real criticism about this engine has been that it didn't do that. I'll be all over this title. Thanks for the answer.
Re: Question re Opponent Replay
It actually is a new engine. The screen look similar to WITP:AE.redboot wrote: Wed Oct 15, 2025 12:20 pm I know it's not a Grigsby title, but it uses the same engine. Re: Question re Opponent Replay
For PBEM the turn is resolved on each system. So there is no replay, but a full turn resolution.redboot wrote: Wed Oct 15, 2025 4:35 pm I'm so pleased to hear that! Security systems are in place to ensure you cannot change your orders after sending a turn.
Works a bit different than traditional PBEM games. You are normally loading your own last saved game and continue that saved game, with the opponent's save being imported before running the turn.
You'll only ever load the game sent by the opponent on turn 1 ( as you logically do not have a game to continue upon the other player started a new PBEM session )
and in case of "on the fly" SCN data changes. A SCN data change during PBEM is handled as if it was the 1st turn ( as other saved states would then have a SCN data checksum mismatch )
As mentioned above it is a new game engine. I wrote every line of code myself ( except for 2 interface windows that do not use DirectX ). It looks like AE just because I wanted this type of game for other theaters as well.

I think the question was whether you can see what happened in the turn.... And yes, the game shows you the air, ground, and naval combats in the turn before you play the next turn.

Re: Question re Opponent Replay
Thanks for that clarification. I did infer that from Alessandro's answer. This is an important feature for those of us that prefer to play humans. The engine looks to be very promising. I wish the development team the very best and will be following closely.
Re: Question re Opponent Replay
Sorry, but I am still confused.
Based on Alessandro S. reply my understanding is the following:
In a PBEM game, both players will have the opportunty to watch the full turn resolution at the beginning of their respective next orders phase. It is still a WEGO concept.
So, one side enters their orders, then the other side, and only then the turn resolution is calculated.
The turn resolution will then always be the same, not matter how often you re-load after the official next turn is received by either player.
Correct?

Re: Question re Opponent Replay
Yes. The turn resolution is based on pre-randomized numbers. so is the same on each computer.terry1040 wrote: Wed Dec 31, 2025 2:14 pm Sorry, but I am still confused.![]()

Re: Question re Opponent Replay
Thanks for your reply. That helps a lot.
Final question on the subject:
Is this a one-time only replay of the turn?
Or is it possible to review the execution multiple times?

Re: Question re Opponent Replay
You can run multiple times if you continue your PBEM game again.
If you overwrite that save after running the turn you will no longer be able to run the turn again.
