Fast forward to May 13, 1943

I've stopped updating for a while, but the war continued. The key highlights over the last few months are as follows:

Crossing the line in Australia

Having conquered India, I shifted some forces to Australia and crossed the emergency reinforcements line. Japanese forces rapidly pushed south, isolating Sydney and converging on Melbourne.

Convoy Battles

Meanwhile, there were several large convoy battles near Antarctica as Jansako attempted to bring reinforcements and supplies to Australia. I largely suceeded in spoling this effort, sinking plenty of shipping and troops, but lost Kaga in a glaring mistake on my part. That is the first flattop lost by Japan so far.

Alaska

Finally, the fighting in and around Alaska has been very intense since the start of the year. The Allies lost heavily here, losing two BBs, 4 CAs, 4 CLs, and dozens of DDs and 30+ submarines. The Empire in turn lost a couple dozen DDs and a few submarines. This past turn Kodiak, which represented the first major Allied invasion, was retaken. The fight here will only get more difficult however, as the Allies pour in good quality aircraft like Corsairs, Thunderbolts, and Hellcats into the fight.

I only see sadness on that map.

Is NZ next? CONUS?

Cheers,

Nope, the Japanese expansion is pretty much over. The Allied war machine is kicking into high gear now and I will be transitioning to the strategic defensive.
