Beginners guide
This video is mostly a how to get started in War in Spain. It is for new players who are looking to fight their first battle and understand the most basic controls, such as creating a task force, patroling, air and amphibious strikes.

Re: Beginners guide
This tutorial was obviously created by someone who never played any of the UV/WITP/WPO or AE games. It is nice that he shows the beginner how to create task forces and how to set air missions, but he appears clueless on why he is creating particular task forces. Sending an oiler out to a blockade with dry tanks is not going to get any fuel to your blockading ships. Sending your largest transport out on blockade duty means that you will have less capacity for your amphibious TF.
I appreciate the effort and did learn a little bit about the interface but do wish it had been created by someone who knew the game system better.

It is meant to be the absolute most basic of tutorials because the manual fails to provide that to players.bradfordkay wrote: Sun Jan 25, 2026 2:50 am This tutorial was obviously created by someone who never played any of the UV/WITP/WPO or AE games. Creating a Task Force isn't covered until page 103! This is the most basic mechanic you need to know to play the game.
I did forget to load the tankers. In my defense, I also sent them into an enemy port too.
The manual states there is a video play-through of the tutorial. I don't think there is one though

You're right, you don't make videos. You may have a deep understanding of the game but others do not.RangerJoe wrote: Mon Jan 26, 2026 3:40 amWouldn't creating a Task Force be in the naval section? Or do you just want the manual to skip and jump to any subject matter in the order that you prefer? It is attempting to be in a logical sequence and you can scroll along the left side to see just where you need to go to get the information that you desire.joseph66hole wrote: Mon Jan 26, 2026 1:54 amIt is meant to be the absolute most basic of tutorials because the manual fails to provide that to players.bradfordkay wrote: Sun Jan 25, 2026 2:50 am This tutorial was obviously created by someone who never played any of the UV/WITP/WPO or AE games. As far as people with youtube channels making videos that aren't very good, just by word of mouth you can let people know that it isn't a good video to watch to learn about the game. I don't make videos but I have put things into my AAR showing how to do things with pictures.
The whole point of the video was to showcase basic mechanics because the developer failed to provide the most basic instructions. Just like they failed to explain how to create a Task Force and almost every other mechanic in the game.
You know what let's see how the developer explains creating a task force. Here is the exert page 103
"To create a Task Force, click on a base either on the Tactical Map or the
List All Bases Screen, and then the Form New Task Force option on
the lower left of the screen."
Tell me what step is missing. I'll do it for you. You need to click on a base. THEN SELECT THE ANCHOR ICON! THEN SELECT NEW Task Force.
Could a new player create a Task Force by following the developers instructions? The answer is No. It is just no.
In fact I'd encourage people to watch my video because they would actually be able to play the game after viewing it.
If not enjoy reading your 441 page manual and loading up my video anyway because the manual isn't even correct.

Re: Beginners guide
What is the point of your replies? I have pointed out issues with the manual and very clearly emphasized the intent of my video. It is meant to show players the absolute basics, which it does. It does not cover strategy or in-depth mechanics. It is purely this is how you make a task force. This is how you direct A/C.RangerJoe wrote: Mon Jan 26, 2026 4:57 pmWhat may be better for some people may be to look at the first part of my AAR which has some tutorial information with pictures highlighting the relevant information. I am on Discord and I have posted things there and on my AAR when people requested that information.joseph66hole wrote: Mon Jan 26, 2026 3:36 pmYou're right, you don't make videos. But also, you can suggest improvements to the manual. I was not really given a chance to go over the new manual before the release and I learned the game system before the manual was fully written.
If you want pictorial descriptions on how to do things, just ask.
Why are you expecting more from it?

Re: Beginners guide
It was helpful for the absolute basics of learning how to create TFs and other simple interface matters.
It was just so frustrating to watch you send unarmed ship into the range of your enemy's coastal artillery to get all shot up, as well as certain other tactical mistakes that I couldn't finish watching the video after about 30 minutes.

Re: Beginners guide
Honestly, I appreciate anyone trying to deliver tutorial content at this early stage in the game.
I haven't played WITP:AE so I feel a bit behind on even the basics so seing him just dive in and create task forces and play with aircraft etc, was super helpful. I was fairly disappointed/frustrated when they included a tutorial scenario, but no documentation/videos on how to begin/what to look out for, (though they seem to be rolling them out now at least
) so thank you joesph for the vid!

It's all good and in the video I say something like "oh shit, i sent my tankers in the enemy port. I meant to send my sub." It's all in good fun.bradfordkay wrote: Mon Jan 26, 2026 10:54 pm It was helpful for the absolute basics of learning how to create TFs and other simple interface matters.

Has anyone been able to complete the scenario? I beat it once but it crashes and breaks really frequently.
