Someone had some questions about the device type swap/upgrade option. I will show a little bit here in pictures. You have to have at least 5,000 supplies at a base to do this.
If I want to swap/upgrade some village volunteer squads in a unit, I will select the device in the pink area and click on it.

This brings up the device statistics. The important one is the firepower in the the yellow area. The pink area shows the load cost and how much the device can carry in supplies. I personally equate the load cost to the number of people. The firepower of this device type is low compared to the load cost, so I may with to upgrade the device after checking the relevant statistics in the database. The red area shows the number of the devices that are produced per month and also the time when the device is produced. The blue area is where I would click to see which devices I can choose for the upgrade.

The pink area shows the upgrade devices in the future. They are not yet being produced so they can't be chosen. Even if there were some of these devices in the pools, they still can't be selected. The blue area shows the type that I can upgrade this device to as well as the number in the pools as well as in the RSV units. I will choose the MOAC squad. I don't use any of those in the pools or in the RSV units, this is just an adjustment of the manpower already in the device.

This is the unit after the change. If you notice, the 17 village device squads are now 18 MOAC squads in the unit. I also gained 7 MOAC squads in a
MOAC Militia sq depot which is the surplus after the switch. There is a 4 picture limit to a post so I won't post the RSV picture. The assault value and other information should show any change during the next turn.
Seek peace but keep your gun handy.
