I am editing this to add this:
When a garrison is "destroyed" the survivors, if there are any survivors, become a separate unit. The name is in the pink area with an "#" added to the front of the name. The garrison itself may be bought back. The blue area has the disband date still included. If you were to rest this unit, it can be a useful small infantry unit added to the defense of a base.

Here is the situation for four areas on the 10th of August.

Northwest Spain is a mess. Most of the smaller bases have been liberated by the Republicans but they need some serious reinforcements. Maybe they can get some in two weeks . . .
NW Spain 10 August 1936.png
NW Spain 10 August 1936.png (2.92 MiB) Viewed 503 times
North Central and North East Spain is fighting and holding. The initial rebel positions in the Basque country were overcome, but this is becoming a stalemate. But that keep the rebel forces occupied so they are used elsewhere.
NC and NE Spain 10 August 1936.png
NC and NE Spain 10 August 1936.png (2.84 MiB) Viewed 503 times
In SW Spain, the rebels have been capturing bases. The Republicans are moving forces in to liberate the area but they want to capture Grenada first.
SW Spain 10 August 1936.png
SW Spain 10 August 1936.png (2.76 MiB) Viewed 503 times
In Central Spain north of Madrid, that is becoming wide open. The plan is to establish a rail line to the north, isolate Burgos from the other areas, capturing as many bases as is possible to starve the rebels. This will be tough in some locations due to the terrain but the open plains are fair game. To the NE, there are enemy forces building up but the Republicans will be on the defensive after raiding parties and reminded the locals that the true Spanish government is in Madrid.

Ships in the Western Mediterranean Sea have been sinking small cargo ships, somehow one of them hit a destroyer. Either that or the Republican cruiser hit it!

But there was no combat unit here, just some recuperating Nationalists who got the boot. So did the civilians who were helping them. The problem is, these were my civilians.

Lots of captured wagons and some trucks. This was the unit that I had attacked the precious turn. Only one damaged truck was captured but 31 undamaged wagons and 100 damaged wagons were captured. Lots of logistical support hauling shells and poweder for the captured guns. :P This is also the best way to shoot down aircraft! Apparently I have the setting on where I can't used captured aircraft.

How to set up a surface combat task force patrol zone.

Create the task force. Then select "Select TF Routing" to get to the control orders including the patrol zone information.

Once you have done that, then you choose a selection in the pink area. You can set up to 3 patrol hexes which will be the defining area of the patrol zone. You could also just select to patrol around an area. You could also just clear the patrol zone. In the blue area, you choose the method of travel to get there. In the yellow area, you decide what the threat tolerance that you desire.

Someone had some questions about the device type swap/upgrade option. I will show a little bit here in pictures. You have to have at least 5,000 supplies at a base to do this.

If I want to swap/upgrade some village volunteer squads in a unit, I will select the device in the pink area and click on it.

This brings up the device statistics. The important one is the firepower in the the yellow area. The pink area shows the load cost and how much the device can carry in supplies. I personally equate the load cost to the number of people. The firepower of this device type is low compared to the load cost, so I may with to upgrade the device after checking the relevant statistics in the database. The red area shows the number of the devices that are produced per month and also the time when the device is produced. The blue area is where I would click to see which devices I can choose for the upgrade.

The pink area shows the upgrade devices in the future. They are not yet being produced so they can't be chosen. Even if there were some of these devices in the pools, they still can't be selected. The blue area shows the type that I can upgrade this device to as well as the number in the pools as well as in the RSV units. I will choose the MOAC squad. I don't use any of those in the pools or in the RSV units, this is just an adjustment of the manpower already in the device.

This is the unit after the change. If you notice, the 17 village device squads are now 18 MOAC squads in the unit. I also gained 7 MOAC squads in a MOAC Militia sq depot which is the surplus after the switch. There is a 4 picture limit to a post so I won't post the RSV picture. The assault value and other information should show any change during the next turn.

Great AAR, will be using it as reference as I try to sort this game out. Thanks for it.
Carrierbane. I lose more flattops in a week then most players do in a year.
