TRIDENT BOREAL V2.0 ( for testing)

Greetings, Commanders!

Here is my new scenario in Beta phase for testing: Operation Trident Boreal. It is a large-scale naval and air engagement in the Kola Peninsula (2027), ideal for those who enjoy commanding modern Tier 1 units.

Quick SITREP: You lead a massive joint force (USS Ford, HMS Queen Elizabeth, and Charles De Gaulle Strike Groups) to break the Russian "Bastion", hunt stealth submarines, and coordinate strikes with B-1B bombers.

Key features:

Dynamic SAR missions (LUA) to rescue downed pilots (adapted from existing LUAs with a personal touch).

Reactive autoscoring based on battle events, etc.

I have tried to make it visually appealing for the player.

What do I need to test?
It is a large scenario, and I would appreciate your After Action Reports (AARs) focusing on:

Balance: Is the difficulty level fair and balanced?

Briefing: Are the objectives clear?

Scripts: Let me know if you see any bugs/issues with the events or the scoring.

⚠️ INSTALLATION (VERY IMPORTANT):
Download the .rar and extract the entire "Operation Trident Boreal" folder into the game's Scenarios folder. The scenario includes local HTML files and images inside that folder for immersion. If you move the .scen file outside of its folder, the images will break.

I look forward to your feedback and battle reports to make the final version perfect. Thanks for your time!

The briefing and events look pretty cool, but am I missing something or is the Queen Elizabeth missing?

 I placed the Q.E. group on the GIUK line northeast of Charles de Gaulle. Can you confirm this, please? I'm not at my PC right now.

I went back in to check and she's definitely not there. I think something has gone wrong because she's not listed in the scenario platforms either. The only RN ships are the 2 frigates and destroyer north of the CDG group (Group 1230).

While opening it up to confirm there's a couple little things I may as well mention. It would be nice if you named the ship groups (e.g. Ford CSG) to make it easier for the player. The nature and survivor sides are also set to be playable.

Perfect, easy to fix. I must have accidentally deleted it in the build versions. I'll name all the TF and SGC files. The sides is easy too. Anything else?

Nakhimov sunk, but do not find the Yasen-M

I like the Viking name :)

What matters most to me right now is the balance of power. There are a lot of Tier 1 roosters in the coop, and anything could tip the scales.

It looks promising. I will try and give it a go during the weekend. But first I am torn between choosing which of the three playable sides I want to be: NATO, Nature or Survivors :D

Thanks for the new scenario, excellent presentation, you could sell this after is tested and polished :)

v2 tested in B1817. Unfortunately it has a bug that complicates things, more than the russians.

Average result with 2920 points, could not sink the Yasen-M.

SPOILERS ALERT.

The balance is too much on the side of NATO. You will not notice the UK carrier is missing. You have too much assets right now. In the briefing it is said the French carrier has tactical nuclear capability, but there are no nuclear weapons, and they are not needed.

Besides in general the russian side is too much passive attacking, for example the Tu-22s are only featured at the beginning of the scenario, only the Yasen-M fired torpedos at the very end when was located, sinking the Jimmy Carter. The Marjata was never attacked and arrived to the Havis North-1 easily. I also think that they should try to destroy the Northern Norwegian radars, SAMs and SSMs when the scenario starts.

They also seem passive in the defense, the escorts of the Nakhimov, I think, did more defending themselves than the leader. They all were static when sunk, I suppose they should be moving along the scenario in a mission for some purpose they may have.

Regarding the russian subs: in the briefing it is said that they want to advance to the Atlantic, this info is misleading, I tried to search for them in the GIUK gap, but only found 1. When started searching in a location more to the north found some more, but it was in the second day. And the Yasen-M, where is it? Not trying to cross to the Atlantic at all. IMO if the russian subs were doing what is said in the briefing, the scenario could be much shorter and fun.

Cannot see the pics in the loading screen, scenario description.

ELINT, etc stations, I think that play no role in the game.

There are no points for losing/destroying some assets: subs and ships losses, russian radars destroyed, russian ships sunk (except the Nakhimov).

The B1-Bs are armed with anti-land missiles no anti-ship, you are instructed in the briefing to use them to sink the Nakhimov, so was sunk later by the F-18s from the Ford carrier. Used the B1-Bs to destroy some radars, 1 shot down for nothing because there are no points to win.

There are group weapons in Orland AB, is it intended?

Regarding the survivors, CSAR operations: no messages for my side, however messages appear on the screen for the russian side. Am I supposed to rescue the russians :)
And how are you supposed to rescue your own survivors? Tried to pickup with several helos and none worked.
They also last to the end, can they survive 2 days in the Norwegian sea 2 days? Should they have a timer?

Regarding the Havis North-1: the Marjata ship was the first to arrive to the zone, I was expecting some message when this happens and that even you could restore it. The message of the explosions appears also the 2nd day.

Civilian side: add losses when you sink or shot down a civilian side. The civilian AC losses are due to lacking airports for them, I think, like what happened in your previous scenario.

Introduction and briefings look great. Nice work!

Only nitpick is NATO early warning radars aren't on and its just a lot of clicks to get going. The Russians certainly know where they are.

I'll pick this up at next revision.

Thanks!

Perfect analysis, many things are easy to fix. I had a lot of loose ends when creating the scenario and needed to publish something to tie things up. On this topic, did you play with the editor while switching sides? Because I noticed that problem playing that way, but not the other way; I left it tested. I also noticed that if you use maximum scenario acceleration, the script has problems verifying unit states. I'll look into it. Also, it's written in B1776. I hope there aren't any compatibility issues we're unaware of. I suspected the power balance would have this problem. But it's perfect because I can add more action to the Russian side in the next version. Regarding the other issues, there aren't any dramatic development adjustments. But I think it's a good foundation and worth trying to develop further. Thank you all so much; I assure you that putting all this onto the game board takes a lot of effort. It's time to place the pieces.

Only switched sides to locate the damn Yasen-M but was at the end of the scenario when I had to time.

The CSAR messages from the red side appeared the first day.

But I play in the editor and with x15, 1 flame and double, it is a long scenario.

The scenario could be shorter if you send the red subs to the Atlantic, also would add a role to the French and British, they are nearly idle.

Lua generates survivors to the player side If you switch sides, it will probably break. Don't worry about the game times; I just put 48 hours since I added the title. That's the idea: to give the CDG and QE work in the rear. Knowing all this, I'll randomize the subs in their area. Perfect. Regarding Marjata and Harvis, I already have some ideas so the message doesn't appear so late. I thought the player would do an aerial reconnaissance. You sent the AGI there :D

You could randomize the points of origin of the red subs, I think it is possible.

And use an area of destination for them in the Atlantic, beyond the GIUK gap, if a number of them arrive there, the blue player loses the scenario.

British and French carrier groups would be busy then.

The immersion is nice, you're using html capabilities quite well.

But be careful with LLM generate code. There are things that makes 0 sense from Lua POV

I know the site; thanks, I've gotten some really good information from there. The strange thing, as I said, is that I tested Lua SAR myself and it worked perfectly, but when I played from the editor, everything crashed. I'll have to look at it more closely, although it's not really the part that matters most to me right now. I can disable it until I review the rest.

My recommendation is to search our Lua API to see what fields the unit wrapper has, what data types it uses, etc.

Then you can start guiding Claude Code and point it in the right direction.

You can also use the Intellisense library for Command that KnightHawk75 created, which I maintain and update here: https://github.com/blu3ser/CMO_Intellisense
