Thanks for this - sounds interesting. Can you list what you think the values by class should be, and I would like to consider adding them in for my next patch - I have often thought some small ship data was a bit off, but you would be surprised. I also checked a few, and they turned out to be correct in-game from what I found. Even though they looked odd in cold blood...

Ok, thanks - if there are important changes that are more code-based rather than the accuracy of a 5-inch gun, that's understood, but if the data is changed to make the code work better or something, it would be really nice to know, so we can change our databases. So we all get the benefit.

For instance, on my ship-based and plane-based missiles and the Ohka - I seem to remember one figure in a field made them not work at all, but a small adjustment made them work fine, well within historical expectations. I found a similar thing with plane rockets. There must be other stuff as well.

The Ch should be around 30t fuel, Ch version aren't all the same.
Wiki Japanese version, hope the link works, note it says Ch28 class have same performance as Ch13 in about half fuel that rings my warning bells. Comparing to western boats of comparable diesel propulsion power and tonnage would make sure we aren't off.

Is fixing the Thai issue is out question? IMO Thai units should withdrawal conditionally to the war results. Probably a trigger after Jun 42 only retire them if Japan below 1:1.5 victory points?

Yes, it would point toward at least a partial correction - I also reviewed the W types and one or two others. All seem to have fuel loads set too high. In my mod, I usually go for an average of several sources, but I think the values you found here look most realistic - thanks for this. I also agree that it brings them more into line with similar allied craft.

Note that the range also seems a bit low (more important), but one type of stock seems to have a value that's too high. I doubt these ships have the kind of in-depth review for some time :)

Changes have been added to my mods for the next patch due July 2026.

This might be correct, as the 120mm was an old gun and not very suited to AA (maybe vs very slow planes)..
So guess modelling it as pure naval may be ok. But i am wondering abt all these small Japanese ship errors ppl
report, were they "reintroduced" to this 1128 versioN? I cant remember most of them in 26 and I went thorugh most IJN ship quite a bit ("back in the days") 8-)

In my mod, they have the DP gun.

If an old DB was used for the update, then I guess the old values and other out-of-date stuff could be reintroduced. That's why I would like to see a lot of the new changes so I can see if I need to put them in my mod.

I am sure this issue will be apparent to those handling it ...

All or almost all old destroyers from Mutsuki down have this gun and in game they are DP variant. That is IMO questionable since their mounts do not seem for AA fire. Instead the mounts from Mikura, Ukuru, C and D classes should be DP . i think older Shimishu and Etorofu mounts appear similar to the destroyers ones and might not capable of high angle.
It is true those low angle mounts can still fire against torpedo bomber and shallow dives but will mean a new DP device with much lower ceiling. Not 32800ft
were they "reintroduced" to this 1128 versioN?
Don´t know but some errors not related to data certainly seem odd that were not corrected.

TBH, in my mod, I think some of these ships do upgrade to the slightly better DP version during the war anyways. As regards the suggestion, I did not see it when I looked at these ships. However, if you put forward the classes you know are correct, I will take a look.

I believe the guns you are discussing are these:

http://www.navweaps.com/Weapons/WNJAP_47-45_11ns.php

If those are DP then +33 degrees elevation means they can only shoot at approaching planes at a distance.

I can confirm that this gun is not DP in my mod, and based on what I read, it should not be. However, many of my old escorts upgraded from this gun to the DP one (otherwise very similar) during the war.

I could have changed it a long while back, but I think actually it is a (good) legacy from RA, which my mod was originally based on, FYI.

I can confirm the ships listed start with the DP version in my mod.

My mod features lower tech at the start with quite a few ships upgrading to better DP guns by mid-42

I am happy to consider any big errors or deviations - maybe have a look at the mod and put forward any further suggestions, but it appears my mod has the changes you have suggested for the main game already.

Shimishi has the DP gun from 5/42, and Etorofu has the DP gun as the starting one. That's because this mod assumes progression as well...

Hope this helps
