In Russia, Urals in German hands and closing in on Moscow - Japan advancing well into the east. In the Pacfic, Americans skipped the outer islands and went for the Mariana's and Iwo Jima - the LRATs need to be scaled back as that move was totally implausable from a supply perspective. In China and India Allies are in retreat with Bombay in Japanese hands. Great game a turn return rate by arikogut.

Looks like your opponent is ghosting - which is sad because we all play ELO to avoid that.
To my knowledge the rule here is: After 4 weeks of no activity you can declare a win by default and quit the game.

BTW, if you want a new game I'm ready to take over

Axis resign mid 1943 with Russia in a very strong position. Bit of an experimental game resulting in a strong Japan and a very weak Germany for the Axis. Fun game with stacks of action. Big naval battles and killer para drops. Finland went pro allies. London changed hands twice but it wasn't really a sensible move by the Axis.

Hi guys,
Thanks for putting up results table firsteds we all appreciate it. Seems like a lot of players who used to play have either drifted off or no longer playing for various reasons. Hopefully it grows a little as we don't seem to have much of a base anymore? Thoughts

I don't think there is anything to worry about, there are a lot of new players around, all of them great people by the way.
If you look at the old ladder there were much more players listed but I would say 50 % of them you could write off, either only having played once or ghosted a game.
Of course some of the legends like Fafnir, Bavre and others are missing but you never know, there is a real life out there, maybe some people just don't have time to play.

I think there is significant room to grow the community, if we could just get the word out about the ELO. My feeling is that there's a sizable # of committed gamers out there, like us, who just don't know about it.

In my experience, there has always been a healthy # of non-ELO WaW games being hosted on PBEM, far more than any other SC game. And whenever I would host a game, including one recently where I decided to finally try playing as the allies (gasp, the horror!), the game was scooped up very quickly. In fact during my game, I mentioned the ELO to my opponent (worr) and he was eager to learn more about it and recently inquired about an ELO game on the boards.

IMO, the best way to get the word out is for ELO folks, of all skillsets, to host the occasional non-ELO game and during it, make your opponent aware of the ELO, elaborating if the interest is there. If everyone hosted just 2 non-ELO games a year and had a hit rate of 50%, we could grow the community significantly in just a year or two.

I think another area of improvement could be how we match folks up. Newbies should be encouraged to work their way up the ladder, starting with some of the lower scored players rather than starting in the mid/top range which can be demoralizing to anyone not realizing just how different the game plays out here vs Random.

Excellent points Rob I think you have made. It would be good to grow the community in ELO and yes newbies should post that and probably not play more advanced guys to start with.

There are two issues. First, tournaments have registration and a start and end date (and usually have rounds leading to a champion). I have not registered for any tournament so never click the tournament button. Really, there is not a tournament at all, but just an Elo rating system. Therefore, the button needs to say 'Elo Rated' rather than 'Tournament' and the players would then know their game is being rated.

Second, the button can only be clicked after the game has started, which is absurd. Both players should know that a game is going to be rated before the game even starts. Thus, the 'Elo Rated' button should be in the 'Preferences' list when setting the game up. Thus, prospective opponents can see 'Elo Rated' (or not) when mouseing over open challenges and will know if their result will be rated or not before accepting a challenge.

There isn't any kind of button that I have seen for WatW. We usually just decide before the game if we want it to be counted in the ratings. So yes, it is not really a "tournament". Just a rating system for posterity and for it to mean something more. It also gives you some assurance that the person in the ratings system you are playing is credible and will be courteous and pleasant.
