[CANNOT FIX] Error resuming from Autosave
I am playing Showcase Queen Elizabeth. This is my first resume in this scenario. When I tried to resume from autosave, it froze up in the loading phase, with no progress on the loading bar. When I exited everything I had the message below on my screen. I tried rebooting, same result. I am able to get to the load saved game menu but I don't want to try that unless I have to because I'll lose my autosave. I saved once a couple hours before I quit last session. I also attached the zipped autosave and last saved game.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Error resuming from Autosave
I did try loading the last save and it also gave the same error. When I started the scenario and configured all my units I did a baseline save before I started the clock, and that does load. But I don't want to play for hours, only to find out I can't pick up where I left off. So for now I am moving on to a different scenario.
Re: Error resuming from Autosave
Loading the autosave will cause several xml exceptions, including this one that reports where the error is.

Re: Error resuming from Autosave
Ok, that's all semi-Greek to me. Will I have this problem again if I either restart the scenario from the baseline save or from scratch? Or was this a one time glitch?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Re: Error resuming from Autosave
That's a really strange one; the internal document that contains the scenario information was literally broken mid-save. It's almost like someone pulled the plug while the scenario was saved to disk.
I'm afraid there is nothing we can do about this. You will need to resume from a previous autosave or, if none such exists, start again.
Sorry

Re: [CANNOT FIX] Error resuming from Autosave
I had two saves for this scenario. I usually do a save once I have configured all my units, before play starts, what I called a "baseline save", and I had one regular game save. The regular game save and the autosave from when I quit playing were what would not load but the baseline did. I'll try from the baseline save and then save later after I've played a while and see what happens.
Thanks for the help.

Re: [CANNOT FIX] Error resuming from Autosave
So, I played for a few minutes from the baseline save, quit, tried to restart, no luck. Then I started a fresh game, didn't modify anything, just let it run out to 15 minutes, quit and tried to restart, no luck. I think I must have gotten a corrupt download of the showcase. Is there any trick to deleting the existing showcase before I download again? I see in the showcase folder there is a .scen file and a .ini file for this showcase; do I need to delete them or will they be overwritten when I re-download?
The reason I think it was a bad download is that I don't have this issue with any other scenarios, from other showcases, community pack, etc. Just this one.
Thanks.

Re: [CANNOT FIX] Error resuming from Autosave
It might not be the scenario. I'm playing Trident Boreal, and I keep having the same problem. You can't restart the game because half of the units are missing. Perhaps thios is the same as yours, and perhaps not. I'm just passing it along just in case it helps you.
Re: [CANNOT FIX] Error resuming from Autosave
In Steam you can do a verification of the integrity of files and will download any missing file, so you can delete it and re-download that wayHWolfe1963 wrote: Thu Jul 30, 2026 4:13 am So, I played for a few minutes from the baseline save, quit, tried to restart, no luck. I'm not in Steam; I have always downloaded directly from Matrix. The only thing there is a download button for North America and one for Europe. So I don't have any file integrity verification option.

Re: [CANNOT FIX] Error resuming from Autosave
This might be awkward but, can you make a full folder-copy of your existing installation somewhere, uninstall, re-install and copy-over all your custom material from the copy ?

Apparently you are using the last official patch, 1825.15
In the last beta patch there are new versions of the scenarios included. It is a 10 GB download though.
If you decide to apply it, back up Command.exe first. if you prefer, you may just extract the scenario of interest and not the full package.
