This is a very solid game so far and really enjoying the experience. I don't have to spend hours and hours and hours doing a turn like I have in some other games. I don't need a gigantic spreedsheet to track items. If a mistake is done during the turn you can undo it. All the moves you can see both the before and after with a few keys. There is a hex popup to gives you many many statics so you don't have to go and look up (intel permitting on enemy units)(see snapshot below). This is a very friendly game in my opinion and I really like it.

Turn 7 (Execution Phase (this is execution of phase 6 planning by both the German and Allies)

Execution Phase

Caen Area

The British and Canadians continue to clean up in the area. Not much in the way of attacks otherwise

Turn 7 (Execution Phase (this is execution of phase 6 planning by both the German and Allies)

Planning Phase

Reinforcements

This turn I received the Majority of the 346 Inf Division at Entry point A (very NE corner of the map)
346th Inf Div.png

I also received 3 units of the 77th Inf Division (an 88 AA battalion and an AT battalion and HQ) and also the recon battalion of the 17th SS and HQ bottom left Southwest corner of the map

I also received one Mech battalion of the PZ Lehr and a Bridging battalion (sorely needed) bottom right corner of the map(SE bottom).

Reinforcements come in at night and in bits and pieces. For instance the 17th SS get the Recon Battalion this turn but the next time I get 17th SS other units is five turns later. On top of that one of the battalions dont come on the map until over 50 turns later :(

Turn 7 (Execution Phase (this is execution of phase 6 planning by both the German and Allies)

Planning Phase

Caen Area

Move the 346th Inf Division to take up residence to the east of Caen. I bring the bridging battalion to a hex to the SW of Bayeux. I bring the one Battlion of PZ Lehr to the west of Caen. My intition is for PZ Lehr to occupy the open ground to the West of Caen letting 12th SS Panzer Div to defend Bayeux as long as possible.

Turn 7 (Execution Phase (this is execution of phase 6 planning by both the German and Allies)

Planning Phase

Utah Area

The rest of the 243rd Inf division are released and I rush them to the front. That way I can get the rest of the 91st Division relieved and those units move further to the South East around Carentaen.

Still no major battles as of yet. I am sure they are coming and I hope I am prepared enough to be able to meet the challenge. I am new to the system so this should be exciting when it finally comes. On to turn Eight

Turn 8 (Execution Phase (this is execution of phase 7 planning by both the German and Allies)

Execution Phase

Omaha Area

You can see in the Pink box I still have not been able to blow the bridge here

The Yellow box you can see the Americans have repaired the bridge :(. When I saw that during the playback I was like, "I am an idiot"

The Orange box I am going to try and blow the bridge here (80% chance since it is over a minor river). The proper use of bridging units is of utmost importance I feel :)

I also notice that the 0-3-0 White DEMO unit (NE of Carentaen) the bridge there was repaired by the Americans too. So I have a small crisis on my hands :(

Turn 8 (Execution Phase (this is execution of phase 7 planning by both the German and Allies)

Planning Phase

Omaha Area

I draw some units from the 352 Inf Div towards St Lo to plug the hole I let happen.

17th SS Mech Div - I only have the recon battalion, I move the battalion to block a route to St Lo

77th Inf Div - I have an AA unit and an AT battalion which I rush to the bridge along with some Corps AA units to try and stem a possible bridge crossing

91st Inf Div - moves a few units into the 77th Inf Div area to help shore up any possible breakthrough.

Planning Phase

Utah Area

709 Inf Div - Waiting for the attacks of the Americans. Resting

243 Inf Div - Still getting into position and relieving some of the 91st Inf Div units so they can move down towards Carentain

In the yellow box I decide to try and rebuild the bridge for the 91st units heading towards Carentain.

T8 Units destroyed by Division

This nice little Organization chart showing what units in the Division have been destroyed. Here you can see the 352nd, 716th, and 91st Division eliminated units within the Division. You can also click on the HQ and it will take you to the map where the HQ is located.

"Unit Quality"

Another nice feature in the game is to quickly determine what units are of what caliber in "quality" In the picture you can see the information button (blue box and arrow left side of snapshot) has been pressed to see this without going to each and every unit to see their quality level individually. This can really help in determining a possible attack route through inexperienced units. Also "Quality" affects almost everything in this game from what I have seen.

Black box & arrow = Conscript units (1 National symbol on unit) is dark shade of see through black
Dark Red box and arrow = Green quality units (2 national symbols on unit) is a redish shade
Yellow box and arrow = Regual quality units (3 national symbols on unit) is yelowish in shade
Green box and arrow = Veteran quality units (4 national symbols on unit) is greensiah in shade
Didn't see an Elite unit in the mix :(

Unit Quality for those that may not know with Yellow arrow pointing to this Veteran Battalion (I just love this pop up picture of the overall unit. You can then hover over each of the units attributes on this counter AND another pop-up shows up describing that!!! Man this is beautiful, I don't have to search a manual for it since it is right there. The second snapshot is hovering over unit quality and gives you what it means.
