I found the AVG squadron at Chungking and it's an exceptional squadron with a proficiency of 81%. That's pretty good compared with the ordinary squadron ( usually 75% ). I'm using them to fly CAP for all the Chinese units within it's range. They aren't missing any planes since I just now moved it from Calcutta to here.

What's at Manila you ask. Glad you brought that up. I've got a magnificent P-40 squadron there ( proficiency 81% ), a PBY squadron ( in reorg ) and an engineer unit set at ignore losses. Plus there's an Allied HQ unit in an adjacent hex. Plus I have some RR arty nearby ready to rail to the nearest hotspot. Some destroyers in the harbor and Fort Drum with it's CD guns. I think I'm almost ready for the Japs to do their worst.

I've just discovered that I have lots of planes near Pearl that are in reorg, probably because of the latest Jap air strikes. I guess. I've found a squadron of P-40's that have an overabundance of aircraft. So they probably won't get any replacements for a game turn 2 months or so. It's proficiency is below standard so it needs to rest, in addition to restore itself from reorg. I don't believe the proficiency increases while it's in reorg. But this squadron is scheduled to receive some P-38's in turn 48 or so. I don't know what date that is but it's a while yet.

I found a B-17 group that is so far below the standard for proficiency that I've put it on INT training because it's scheduled for flying every turn but won't actually INT any enemy units within range because there aren't any. I count that as training.

Ordinarily partisan units don't convert the hex they occupy unless they end their turn in a hex, but I've found that after I move the partisan unit and then go to the next unit and then go back to the partisan unit it converts the hex. And I've just done that to a section of a Japanese road just now.

I moved the 3rd NZ Inf Brigade to Henderson Field at Guadalcanal from somewhere in NZ just to claim the hex before any Japs get antsy. I know it says Division but I'm looking at the single X for unit size and I think it's not quite a Division, more a Brigade size. I'm parking a Subchaser at Tulagi just to park something there. Any attacking Jap land unit can move it out of the hex but just having something there might intimidate Willie for a second. It could happen.

I started moving ships and I found the CV's Yorktown and Lexington down near the south edge of the map and in addition, BB Colorado says it's in reserve and doesn't activate until turn 3 but I found it active and ready to go. I don't know what happened to cause it to be active, but it is.

It's early in T2 just after the playback and Willie moved several divisions of infantry to the port at Claveria and I expect them to push south. His shock level is 120% and mine is 95% so I expect his units to do especially well. At least they don't have any airfields nearby to lend support. He's got lots of airfields within range however so I need to leave some P-40's on CAP at Manila for all the good they will do. The News Summary says some of the damaged BB's can be repaired and some were withdrawn or sunk.

It seems that one of the Jap CV groups, CV Kaga, came within range of one of my patrol float planes based at Johnston Isand. My float plane attacked at minimize losses and lost the entire squadron anyway. I did shot down a Zero though. Not much of a trade if you ask me.

During the Jap turn there was an air strike near Singapore where the Japs lost 6 aircraft destroyed and 12 damaged. I lost a Hurricane1 aircraft destroyed and 1 Hampden damaged. Light losses for the losses the Japs had. Part of his problem was that he had no fighter escorts for protection. I was the only one who had any fighters at all. No wonder he suffered significant losses.

At Sui-ehuan, China there was a land combat that took place and both sides lost equipment and troops, the Chinese a lot more than the Japs. This doesn't bode well for the Chinese.

Another attack occurs at Nahnchang, China and again the allies lost more than the Japs. I'm going to have to adjust my tactics.

There was an attack in the Phillippines SW of Claveria and same story. We lost more than the Japs. It's just a matter of time until this enemy mob is in Manila given this outcome.

Here's an attack at Bangkok and the Japs pushed one of my engineer units backward one hex. I've got enough troops there to hold up the Japs for a while I do believe. I've plugged up all the empty ports further south so the Japs can't just walk in.

Here's the result of a Jap attack near Macao, China and the Chinese lost a major part of a Corps worth of troops. I believe it went into reorg also.

And as a follow up attack the Japs pushed one my Phillippino divisions onto a river crossing but it doesn't have a bridge or road or anything. This means it won't defend very well being on a river. And I don't have any troops to help him out without uncovering an empty port.

I flew some Beaufort's and B-25 Mitchell's from Australia out to Rabaul for some recon capability. I'm afraid some of my planes are going to get shot down by any Jap fighters within range. But if there are any Jap planes that are a threat I need to know that. The range of the aircraft is shown in the image.

I flew some Boomerang's from NZ to Henderson Field to provide the island with some air power. It's naked otherwise. I just noticed that there are no airfields on Santa Isabel island. But there are two good ports.

This is what NZ looks like right now. In the north there's the 5th NZ Inf Bd and it's fully stocked with it's equipment and troops. But right now it's playing garrison at Whangarei. There's two squadrons of planes on the island one fighter unit with Buffalo's and one below strength Beaufort squadron that is going to stay where it is until it get's filled up with aircraft. Unless there's an emergency somewhere.
