Modding Scripts

Post by dhucul2011 »

Is there an easier way to test modded scripts rather than re-starting the game over and over again to see if they perform as intended?

Is there any way for a game save to re-compile the script files so that you can go back to an auto-save for example just prior to the script firing?

Thanks.

No.

Not sure on this one. I do know you can edit the text/description popups in real time. Have that popup text box active in the game, edit the text file, save and ALT‐TAB back into the game and it will be changed.

No to both questions, I wish! It would have made doing AI work allot easier.

Yes, it would be great to have a modding/test mode but in the interim, I do two things:
1. Create a Save As of the campaign and then set all the script conditions, change the date etc. and then check the script fires. Be smarter than me, though, and remember that scripts changed in one campaign will not be changed in the other automatically! :)
2. Use the tilde (~) key - not Shift-`- to get a bunch of information about the scripts that fire and other AI functions when playing in single-player mode (it doesn't function for other play modes).
