Nice job on trashing that ID.

Having refurbished CVs is nice but it is the air groups that do the fighting. I would be careful of engaging until the pilots are mostly in the 70s for primary skill and defensive skill and in the high 60s for general experience.

Only news these turns is that Prome fell on the 16th. Was hoping for a longer stand but I was not expecting more than three IDs to be the assault force

No ambitious plans coming up. Just going to use my CVs to cover reinforcement of Terapo and to occupy Lugainville.

Not a lot going on in the game right now.

Up north the IJN finally withdrew from the invasion of the Aleutians allowing my convoy with the 11th AF HQ to finally get into Unmak Island. This should allow my meager NoPac air units to start the whittling down of the IJA units.

In Burma to my surprise the IJA is not pursuing the units retreating form Prome. Larry is only using air bombardment to harass the units in retreat. AS they get closer to Akyab, My LR cap becomes more effective. He is losing quite a few Sallys and Helens here. The units retreating from Moulmein made their way all the way to Toungoo. Lack of Japanese AV at Meiktila (SP?) cause the base to fall back into Allied hands. IJA unit moved into that base last turn and should flip back in the coming turn

KB went on M. Toad's Wild ride in the Central pacific bombing Baker Island (unoccupied) twice, Canton Island and Ocean Island. Was concerned he would slip south into the sea lanes between ECUSA and NZ but that didn't happen

Troops continue to land at Balikpapan. CD continues to work over the merchants. I heard two separate sinking audios. The one xAK went down I am almost sure, and I think an xAP may have joined her. Larry cannot be happy about those DMS getting roughed up. It is possible the second sinking sounds was one of the DMS going down

I moved my CVTF up closer to Terapo in hopes of catching some shipping unloading at Lae. No AM strikes from either side. My attack A/C did not fly. IJNAF responded. I had a 3:1 ratio of CAP vs escorts and did very little to the attackers. Air loss screen says the Japanese took more losses than the combat report. Which is more believable?Portland is limping towards Portland Roads (how appropriate). The CVTF swing south to pick up the AMPH TF heading for Terapo. Even though I didn't shoot down many Nells, that level of damaged air frames might give me a few days respite. Once I get the troops and more importantly the AS into Terapo, land base air will have to cover this theatre

Concerning actual losses, the combat report is low and the air loss screen is closer but may be high. I actually watch the entire air battle and tally losses to get an accurate count. It takes a while sometimes, but I think it's accurate that way.

I ignore the damage results. It (I believe) is the number of hits on aircraft, which may include multiple hits on the same aircraft and hits on aircraft that were later shot down.

Well this turn went about as bad as it could

Merak falls making Java 100% Japanese owned. Balikpapan also fell which was no surpise.

My TF reached Terapo but lacked enough op points to unload. Poor planning on my part. IJN CVs should up off Buna and the carnage began. My attack aircraft launched one weak attack at shipping off Lae. That's it!!!! :? Suspect weather had a bearing on it. Conversely the IJN carrier aircraft only attacked the AMPH TF. So we had a carrier battle without any carriers being attacked. Not quite true because Nells attacked Lexington but failed to hit her

Several SCTF have been spotted near Milne Bay (of course none of the half dozen subs I have up there did anything about that). I divided out the merchants that could only make 8 kts and sent them towards Cooktown. They'll probably be picked off but better to sacrifice a few to save the larger lot.

Oh and the are Zeroes at Amchitka Island now. GRRR :x

So this plan obviously has to be nixed. Any time I venture forth out of my air cover, KB appears and ruins my day. I am contemplating abandoning the Terapo idea as it being in range of Rabaul just makes it too hard. Without some engineers there, it will be hard to build up the base and keep it repaired if Larry starts bombing it. Fast Transport won't get any ENGR vehicles across so that a no go. I can air lift in an air HQ but the air base is only level 1 right now. Will need to concentrate on getting the units at sea home before I worry about that.

IJN CVs pull back. No new attacks from the air. Two SCTF roaming the southern coast of NG. A weak attack puts one bomb into CA Kako. Over a hundred attack aircraft and I can't seem to launch more than 18 bombers (no TBFs). Leaders are Sherman and Mitscher in case you are wondering. I think its the weather.
