Has anyone been successful at beating "Log Bridge, 1989"?

I have been obsessively playing this map

But it feels impossible to beat without insane micromanagement. Granted, i've been mostly trying to settle most of the action via mission based automation, but no matter what i do I cannot get close enough to the RKR Frunze SAG to within harpoon range without eating a fistful of granits and sunburns

Has anyone else had any luck with this scenario?

I have tried this scenario I did not know


The first time it was a disaster in a direct confrontation Wisconsin SAG vs the Frunze SAG.

Second time successful with a triumph (1000 points) with these tricks:

- Hold in reserve the Wisconsin naval group in Western Iceland waters.

- Locate and weaken the Soviet naval group with your 2 subs. If you are too aggressive they will be sunk, so it is enough with sinking 1 or 2 of the red ships. Probably also of their subs if you encounter them.

- Once is located, you can approach with your surface forces, the trick is to set the WCS (Surface) to free. This way you will fire first with your anti-surface Tomahawks weakening them even more. And then with the Harpoons.

- The final confrontation will happen and will be successful if you managed to weaken them enough, still the losses may be high, but I guess the result can be improved with more tries and a bit of luck.
