Has anyone been successful at beating "Log Bridge, 1989"?

I have been obsessively playing this map

But it feels impossible to beat without insane micromanagement. Granted, i've been mostly trying to settle most of the action via mission based automation, but no matter what i do I cannot get close enough to the RKR Frunze SAG to within harpoon range without eating a fistful of granits and sunburns

Has anyone else had any luck with this scenario?
