Biggest events over this five day period were air drops on Dili and Badjermasin (sp??)

But.......

Every once in a while a plan comes together just as you planned it. I have been working hard to get the air bases in Bengal built up. I also have been training the RAF and USAAF pilots like crazy. I figured after Rangoon fell I could expect air activity to shift to this region. Came through today

Up north I was bringing my BBs up to hit the Aleutian bases. I thought the IJN had pulled back. Spotted the carriers last turn and I knew this was a fairly weak CVTF (CVE and CVL). So instead of retreating I sent them to Unmak Island and upped the cap to 80%

The RNN has largely been inactive as far as the surface fleet goes so far in this game. I just felt like they needed to represent. Cannot say the results of this battle are disappointing considering the forces present for both sides

Oddly the IJA unit marching towards Terapo from Lae disappeared/pulled back. New unit now marching from PM. If it weren't for the fact that getting supplies into Terapo is nearly impossible I would reinforce there. Still contemplating this one. My few C-47 SQN are occupied with trying to keep Milne Bay supplied.

IJN BBs are now protecting Adak Island. The USAAF at Unmak Island took some runs at them for no hits. So is this force just escorting reinforcements or is this going to be a standing force to keep my own SCTF out of Adak? I can say this is the first time in this game when I have Larry reacting to me

Pakhoi falls. Should have resisted the attempt to force the issue here. So I have no idea if the 14th ID is unrestricted at the beginning of the game in this mod or did my opponent buy it out. It came by sea which means one way or another, it was an unrestricted unit.

For whatever reason certain squadrons won't take replacements at their current locale despite there being ample supply, and within range of their HQ. I had a B-25 squadron at Comilla that would not take replacements; transferred it to Calcutta and <tada> replacements available

Larry has been bombing a stack of Chinese units in the mountains near Chengting. One thing I find interesting is that Larry has done almost no counter air operations in China. The CAF could likely be made ineffective if he concentrated on it.

Sorry for the poor image but I had a hard time picking a type color that would even show up. THe big stack below the mountain hex has 11 units. There are 3 IJA units in the hex Trying to apply some LRCAP from Yenen but so far no luck

More sweeps at Akyab. Lots of damaged airframes but very few destroyed. moving some squadrons around to put fresh airframes in to action. This is not like six months ago when Larry shut down Rangoon in a few days. I have more units available to rotate in and out plus there is a lot more experience in the pilot pools

The game moves on. North Pacific is where all the action is right now. You know, I would be perfectly happy to let this theater be a backwater but my opponent seems to want to play here. A CVTF with CVL/CVE is south of Dutch harbor just out of range of the B-25/B-26 units based at Unmak. My forces try to attack some merchant shipping of Adak but can't break through the Zero CAP. IJN BBs come to pay a call at Unmak and pay a price this time

As the calendar flips to 1 August, all the USAAF bomber SQN increase their size. This has created a bit of a pilot crisis. Well experienced squadrons now have 4-5 newbies in their ranks.

July 31st has my pig boats hit three separate TK in the Sulu Sea! Only one hit per attack which is probably not enough to sink any of them. All were set on fire.

Plans for August are to continue moving troops up to Lugainville. Once that base and some of the surrounding ones are developed, I can let my CVs do other things. I decided to lightly reinforce Terapo. I think Larry is having a hard time getting supplies over the mountains.

Northing happened of not on the 1st or 2nd.

Sent my BBs to hit Adak again as the area seemed to be free of CVs. Well it wasn't and it also wasn't a CVE/CVL TF. At least part of KB was present. No ships sunk (yet) but it wasn't pretty. However my opponent made a comment about the AAA so I think at least some of these losses are real. The complete lack of recon units that are unrestricted allowed him to sneak Bettys into Adak. Only Mississippi is at risk at the moment. Will the IJN Pursue and risk running into the CAP from Unmak? Next turn will tell

After a hectic two turns, things calm down

Unloading continues in the DEI but no IJA attacks at either Koepang or Tandjoengselor (that is a copy/paste name if there ever was one)

An I-boat sinks the crippled CL Java off Cooktown. She had been damage by Betties south of Ambon and I was trying to nurse her back to a shipyard. With Koepang likely to fall I thought the east coast route was the safer route - WRONG!

IJN still at PM. I notice the damage levels are falling. I suspect the convoy had some engineers. Still no response by Oz based medium bombers

Only single attack from Adak and it is brushed away. BB Mississippi is island hopping back towards Dutch Harbor. KB seems to be withdrawing west but I've seen that before. Will slowly withdraw my SCTF towards the WCUSA. I think once my heavy bomber units rebuild after the 1 August expansion to 12 planes per squadron, I am going to mass them at Unmak and try to reduce Adak. That will take time

One unit has a morale of 8. Hopefully a couple of months of hot food and a soft bed will perk these guys up

The US CVs are officially out of the war. Lexington will need yard time and she is too big for Sydney (at least I think she is). Enterprise and Hornet can escort troop transports if needed but I am done with offensive action. CAP can't even push aside 20 lousy Nells. Torpedo aircraft are no way near vulnerable enough in this game. The remainder of Wasp's air group did land so I guess I bought some naval attack forces to use
