A bit of a stand off over the few turns this weekend. His CVs are at happy land to the south of lunganville, and my BBs are north of nevea, we seem to be frustrating each others plans. he wants to catch anything going into lunganville, and I want to close efate again.
But at least I know where he is.....
My 2 CVLs keep getting reported by a coast watcher at shortlands as 2 CVs, pinning KB there, when in fact they are still drifting quietly south into the coral sea. After refuelling will keep the drift up, who knows how this will end, a strike on Noumea perhaps?
Risking 2CAs and 3 dds on a quick drop some troops off near lunganville, very risky.

I tend to take the spotting reports with a large grain of salt unless they give an actual ship name.

The coastwatchers, for the most part, were local planters given a identification book and told, 'report what ya see'.......so, the mistakes ya see in the 'fog of war' are probably alot like what historically happened.

A highly interesting turn.
Opened with one of my subs 5 hexes east of townsville( on the trade route to noumea that the AI loves) encountered 5 or 6 scs, and 3 DDs, and OH MY GOSH, sank a sc and Lived!
But where are they headed?
Taking a punt the CVs will break cover and charge towards them, they will be spotted, but if they are headed towards noumea I wil get them.
Wobblys Cvs are trying to slip north up the edge of the map, getting almost level to lunganville, hunting my BBs, which are still refuelling well north.
Packed Irau, nevea with planes that turn, 90% cap.
Tanaka gives up in disgust, retires his big TF.
The smaller one successfully drops afew troops to the hex North of lunganville, and gets away.
yet another fast transport run will try to get into lunganville over the next few days.
Maybe My carriers revealing themselves will draw wobbly away, or hopefully encourage him to get aggressive, lunga is packed to the gills with betties and nells, irau has a few Vals, and so does nevea.

More importantly it is reach of his invasion force, and his CVs are sighted in Noumea.
What to do. If wobbly hangs about I might nail him, but Im sure massive LRCAP will be in place over cairns and his ships.
So Im betting he will bug out south, so my CVs are going to fade away, refuel and hang about, and see if we can catch something else

Well, thinking about it, I blew it. Should have sent 3 BBs into townsville, and set the carriers to attack, now wobbly is fleeing under air cover to townsville, and Im sure the CAP there will be huge

1st round very even, mutsu is hammered, and not one shell penertrates
2nd round he gets surprise, and the battle generally goes against me, i will loose 5 dds to gunnery, 2 more may get home. The BBs, Ca are basically unscratched, despite the BBs being hit countless times.[:'(]

As a desperate distraction 4 dds will enter townsville tonight, they are just 2 hexes out, for some reason failing to enter last night.
