5. The game will be sold at Origins and it´s boxed.

Any chance of preordering or some how reserving a copy to be picked up at Origins?

Thanks!

Hmmmmm How long would it take for you to learn what you need to know?
It takes around 12 hours to input turn 1 scenario 15 orders. But then if you make historical turn 1 you need to spend a lot of time on turns 2 3 and 4 fixing everything.

You'll be better off sitting with the Manual open in a PDF reader and being able to search through it *while* you have WitP up on the screen. Never understood why people insist on killing trees when they can read it on screen with a good search ability too!

One other question concerning the DD:

Is it possible to download it once (the 330meg???), pay twice the $70 and having two fully functional copies?? E.g. by having a second file with a key or an activation in it that is way smaller - and therefore everybody -even with a modem- can download it.

I ask because I only have a slow modem connection, but a friend of mine has a fast DSL-line and he is going to download it. I hope that he pays the money, downloads the "main"-file and I can pay, get an activation key for my $70 and get a copy of the main-file from him. Is something like this possible or MUST everybody who wants to have a functional downloaded version do the full download??

I am not asking for copying/pirating the game. I am asking for having the activation key -or whatever it is- in a small file (e.g. 1-4meg) and have the 330meg free to copy.

Will digital download be available for 56K modem users or just DSL or better?

330 MB download = 18-20 hours at 48K +

I was not sure that this 330Meg were not confirmed - my fault. So let it be 200, 300, 400, 500..... Will we get only one big file or will the actual key file be smaller, thus making it possible for modem users to downlad it separately and get the actual "big" (enter actual meg no. here) file otherwise....to save on shipping and handling.

Dear Matrix developers:

Just another question about downloading Witp.

At home I have a 56 modem, (I know crap!!!!), however my laptop has wireless capability.
So, if I go to the local Hotspot, download Witp onto my laptop hard drive, drink a beer and wait in anticipation calmly, for whatever.
Then will I be able to transfer the game from my laptop to a CD, then install Witp onto my game computer using the CD, or is the download a single system, one time only deal?

Hoping for a really good answer, fingers are crossed, pinch of salt thrown over my right shoulder, etc.

Thanks for everything.

No, there´s no problem with the way you describe above.

This answers my question too - at least in some ways.

Would it be considered legal to copy the CD from a friend, pay the $70 to Matrix and then install the copied game on my computer. Ok, Matrix would ?probably? not complain, but will I have, after I paid my $70, somekind of document in my hand, stating that I am a legal owner of one copy of WitP - that I made illegally[&:][&:][&:][&:]

Any lawyers out there??? And will I get such a document after my payment?

Am I following all of this correctly? It seems:

1. I pay my $70.00 to Matrix/2x3 and I get something which I will call "Secret Decoder Ring" (SDR)
2. I can then obtain the game from direct download, my CD burned from my download, someone elses CD from a direct download, CD from Origins, or apparently any other rational means. As long as I have my SDR, I can install the game from whatever source and legally play it.
3. My SDR is apparently transferrable from one computer to another, so that I can load and play the game on my desktop, my notebook,
or even (not that anyone would) [:D]my computer at work.

All of this must be too good to be true. It doesn't seem that Matrix/2X3 could possibly protect themselves while providing this level of versatility to honest purchasers.

Specifically, I would like to: (a) Download the game from the internet (cable modem) and receive my SDR on my desktop; (b) create a CD from the download; (c) install the game on my desktop from the download and play the game using my SDR; (4) install the game on my notebook from the CD I made and play the game on my notebook using my SDR. Is this workable? Does Matrix object to this? How does it actually work?

I guess Matrix has figured out that only grognards are going to play the game, and that most grognards will gladly pay to keep Matrix going.
Also when you buy a copy of software, you are only supposed to have it on one computer at a time, but they dont really expect you to install it to your desktop in the evening, uninstall it in the am to install it to your laptop (so you can play at work[:D]) then uninstall it from your laptop, when you get home, and reinstall it in your desktop to play at home...
I guess so long as only one person at a time uses each copy (kind of like a book) then, the spirit, if not the letter, of the law is preserved.
Now I resume the anxious waiting[8|]
