Tommy: The current number assignments are meaningless. Think of it this way: If tomorrow another new registration was established, and you were member 10 and I was member 35, would that prove that you were around here longer than I? Well that's the situation with the current numbering. A good deal of us, Larry and I both, preceded the current registration. Even the number of posts can be deceptive, because in my case I had my old logonid was lost because I misunderstood how to use the what was then new registration, which required an email address, unlike before, so when I used the old account name, the password to that account was generated beyond my knowledge and sent to the none@none account that I specified. There is a member here called either 'Charles22' or 'Charles 22', but he's never posted a lick beyond when this forum changed registration methods, because that was my old account.
Alright, then, how about a definition of vet in SPWaW terms? I know some of you guys were here while the game was still in utero. I came aboard on ver 2.1 that was on the now defunct EZ Gamer CD I bought (and have since given away). ( BTW, when the guy installed it on his brand-spanking new PC, it amazed me how far the game has come since then.) Considering we're almost to ver 7.0, I'll consider myself a vet. How would YOU define an SPWaW vet? Huffy, you started this, so, what's YOUR definition?

ok..ok...your right , I started this post. When I had gotten to get back into the forum a couple weeks ago...it seemed that alot of the familiar names that had always been posting were not to be seen.It just looked like the old "vets" of the developing and evolution of SPWAW were not around. Now with all these replies....I see everyone is still around, along with some new friends...thank you.
Take care...

Hello All! My ship (USS Kearsarge LHD-3)just returned from the Med on the 15th. I didn't have the oportunity to post for the last six months, but I did order and receive my copy of the Mega Campaign while I was gone. I've also gotten a few shipmates addicted to SPWAW. Great to be back in the US though. Looking forward to Lost Victories. Fans of SPWAW will always be around.

Well, I think I qualify here. I'm still here, Huffy! I've been in the jungles of Guadalcanal for the last two months but we're due to be taken off this hell hole soon.
MC-W (Mega Campaign-Watchtower) is very close to completion. It is an experience that all SPWAW gamers will want to enjoy! Enjoy!
When you're done with this 70 scenario jewel, with options, articles, pictures, insights, choices, you'll have known a little of the feeling of desperation of the fighting that took place there in the longest single campaign in Marine History.
MC-Watchtower...coming soon. You don't want to miss this one.

Vet is a greatly subjective term.
I have worn uniform, but never been shot at (thank god).
I remember thinking wargaming was Tactics II.
I have the original Steel Panthers, but didnt play it as much, because I always had trouble loading it on my uninterested computer.
My number isnt a low 3 digit number but its about right for chronological purposes.
I dont post large volumes, but my posts are usually more than 50 words heheh.
I have never been one of the more analytical types on here, but I try to post the occasional thought provoking comment.
I think vet might be a bit generous for me. I like to think of my self as 1st Line maybe.

I LIKE that my life bothers them,
Why should I be the only one bothered by it eh.

Mine goes back to 1965, Sarge, AH and AK and Midway. 36 years of active gaming and still counting!
I've been with Steel Panthers since the first beta version of the first Steel Panthers in 1994, nearly seven years ago.
I've followed through on the beta teams of every single version to come out since then, SP2, SP3, SP2WW2, SPWW2 and now SPWAW.
And God willing, I'll be here for the next one. That is not arrogance, but gratitude - gratitude for the opportunity and for the extended life.
And you qualify! Believe me, you qualify....WB

I guess I'm a vet and a rooky at the same time
Vet because I'm a big fan since SP1 and rooky because only today I discovered this wonderful forum.
Been thinking in start playing some games with other players for a change at the net or maybe by e-mail, instead of just playing vs the computer. Any candidates? I'm sure I will not be an easy victim

A hearty welcome Richard. You'll find this group affable and ready to help.
The spirit here is positive, a pleasant change from most forums. We agree to disagree and demonstrate the common courtesies so rarely found elsewhere on the internet.
It is a privilege to have an SP vet join us.
