Bugger IJN hit Amboina I was about to evac the base force but looks like the IJN is hitting it in force.

Reports indicate a major effort with lots of transports.

I suspect Betties will be operating from that choke point within 3 days.

The six week extra period of weakness is starting to look like a bad tradeoff even this early.

SOPAC area of operations are deemed secure by High Command as is Australia with the arrival of 500 US combat aircraft on Fiji.

(May not be enough on its own but 2 US combat divisions have also deployed in theatre).

This is a calculated gamble as I have stripped a large proportion of West Coast Command of aircraft to do it but I suspect that Sveint will not be in a position to exploit it and substantial reinforcements are on the way.

Canada Command and NoRPAC are fully intact and can be redeployed if required.

What a turn !!!

Allied preperations for Operation Talisker <now cancelled following discovery of CV force>
resulted in one of my Carrier strike forces being in a position to hit the Japanese forces at Amboina.

No CV cover force detected but in one more turn Betties will be operating from Amboina

I have damaged 4 Japanese Battleships but looks like Superstructure hits only with no critical hits although we are a long way from a IJN port so I may get lucky.

Devestators just dont have the range to allow Allied CV's to be decisive at this stage.

Aye unfortunately thats what it looked like to me as well.

But thats what 6 BB's with minor damage so it put a crimp in the IJN's bombardment force if nothing else.

Now for the next Battle Java and Sumatra let battle commence.

Major problems for the Allies.

Sian is going to be a race...

Can I hold on long enough to get my troops out of the northern death route....

Only time will tell

Im running out of fighters as well

major fights over Rangoon and another convoy got kicked getting out of Palembang.

I have a plan but I am not sure if it will work.

SOPAC reinforcement goes well

A few more turns pass and all is quiet.

I may escape the Sian Langchow deathmarch.
Sveint just took the last northern city so my army should retreat towards chungking when forced out.

Apart from that all quiet

Thoughts on the war so far...

We are now at the end of January.

The last few turns have been quiet but the storm is building.

My CV force is intact (which is unusual for me as I usually lose at least one allied CV before now)

China not going to well although I have 2000 Assault points in Sian holding until the rest of my northern army retreats onto the hex. My plans are to run as fast as I can into the interior as I have finally got it through my thick head that I cannot stop the Japanese on the rail line.

West Coast/ Cent Pac large well escorted convoys fill the shipping lanes. I feel exposed here so I am putting a lot of effort into securing the various hubs on my transport route.

Australia/ NZ Kiwis and Aussies are safe enough I dont think Sveint will try anything to audacious in this theatre until he has secured DEI and by that time they should be secure.

Phillipines still holds but will not last forever. I am strongly dug in and hope to hold on as long as I can.

Burma Rangoon is still held in force with heavy forts Mandalay and Northern Burma is garrisoned to prevent a smash and grab. I expect huge battles around Rangoon over the next month.

India/ Java/ Sumatra I can gove no detailed info here as its classified Top Secret. Since I abandoned Singapore I have 12 Bgdes to play with the exact split of where I have deployed or intend to deploy these formations will make or break the defence of India Northern Aus and western DEI.

I have increased my period of weakness by abandoning Singapore I am still not certain it was a wise tradeoff.

Only time will tell......

Ohhh and last but not least SoPAC area.

Im getting a kicking I still hold PM but unless I heavily reinforce it is untenable.

I could stick 3 ex Singapore Bgdes in there but not sure if its worth it.

It is a plan I am debating internally at the moment.

Japanese thoughts...

Everything going according to plan. DEI is under control and we should capture it on schedule. Phillipines have been rough but should fall on schedule. China is going very well. Finally in the Southeast Rabaul is operational as a major base and we're planning further offensives.

7th February Sitrep

As Sveint is no doubt fully aware I am going to attempt to hold onto Rangoon and weather the siege.

One potential use for the forces saved from Singapore is to act like the Hammer to Rangoons Anvil from Mandalay...

Allied GHQ is confident that Rangoon can hold long enough for any offensive to come to pass...

Allied Fighters claim to have shot down over 100 fighters and bombers for little loss in the last two days over Rangoon. (Nates for escort on Sallies and Lillies against the AVG and two Hurrican Sqns ....Massacre in the skies...I expect elite zeroes any day now)

Southern Sumatra/ Java Timor and Borneo are shaping up to be a real humdinger of a barney I will reveal nothing classified however I will say at least a portion of the MAG has been deployed to reinfoce this area.

I am 100% certain I can hold Northern Australia now I have troops heavy bombers and lots of fighters there now (no no just Wirraways)

I am less confident about PNG where I think I am weak.

Solomons I am on the recieving end of a drubbing and China is a disater in the north I narrowly escaped the death march but Sveint has a clear run in the north now.

I am still committing far to much force to protect my West Coast Super Convoys (A result of a PBEM against a pair of Japanese Commanders who caught me being a lil lazy....In that game a 100 ship convoy from West Coast got caught by KB 300 miles from Pearl where the escorts were waiting to split them up into lots of little convoys....That little disater set back SOPAC reinforcemtns by 3 months and lost me a lot of men and aircraft ever since I am ultra cautious in protecting my convoys)

Anyway thats the story so far.

I think Southern DEI and Burma are going to be lots of fun.. and everywhere else panfull.

My impression so far is its pretty even with no decisive blows struck by either side Sveint may disagree with that but I think this one is going to be a lot of fun.

(Unfortunately Allied Supreme Commander is recconoitering Beaches on Cyprus in the Eastern Med for the next week so Pacific is anticipated to be quiet for 7 days [:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D])
