Soviets - business as usual: attacks and counterattacks. No lead lease for SU this turn.

WA - took control of the whole Mediterranean. Destroyed any German/Italian sub that dared stay in the Atlantic.

Just for the heck of it I reopened the Hawaii-Australia route, attacked and destroyed two fighter and one INF units in North Australia, thus isolating Japanese troops in Australian Outback and whatever is the name of the province south of Queensland (Victoria?). A Japanese Army will have to spend the south hemisphere winter in Australia, and may as well get used to it, cause they are not going to see Japan until the end of the war (when survivors will be repatriated as POWs). I just wanted to show that Australian adventure will cost the Japanese dearly, and means nothing to WA in terms of possible losses, so is a strategic mistake (I think? I still can be proved wrong).

Germany - Summer 1943

Fighting continues to seesaw across the Russian Front. With our buildup of forces in the north, it was only natural to continue our offensive there, once again capturing Archangelsk and opening additional holes in the line. Elsewhere, we continued to reinforce our positions.

Is it just me or has play in this AAR become a little slack? The Japanese offensive on Australia seems to have been started out of simple curiosity, and the counterattack is also termed as being carried out 'for the heck of it'.

No offense taken - we lost one of our four players, plus there is some heavy-duty testing going on with the newest version (like 6 - 7 iterations beyond the one shown in this AAR). Its not so much playing to win, as it is to try new strategies & tinker with the system to see what works & what doesn't.

is there anything wrong with that? [:D] the problem in AAR's is with the opponent having access to these comments and reports, i normally am not 100% accurate in stating the what, why, and when of my strategies. It may not look like i have a strategy but i do.

so the WA counterattacked into Australia, and i counter attacked back taking the 2 north territories that had actual combat units (for the most part i had been attacking Militia up until now).

Oh, quite devious, I might say!

My apologies for the delay, I was on a week-long business trip to Denmark, and didn't have version needed for this AAR on my laptop (nor did I have time/connectivity needed to play, anyway).

SU. I am experiencing severe supply shortages as SU, as there's nowhere for WA to unload the supplies. Note to readers: I *never* wanted to play SU in this particular game, but circumstances forced me to jump into Stalin's jacket as well as in Churchill's and Roosevelt's.

I retook couple provinces this turn. I could have used "ferry bug" to retake Sevastopol, but I won't do it, and I appeal to Paullus for him not to misuse this bug in this game either.

I need more supplies, and will probably try to take Turkey in coming turns, so as to reopen supply route for WA LL there, and make Germans play honest on their south-eastern flank.

WA - busy turn. My LR air 0wnZ0rZ enemy subs, as planned. LR ASW air is based in Egypt, Azores, Gibraltar, UK, and of course US, Iceland base is curently dormant as it's not needed. I killed or damaged 5 subs this turn. Med is mine. Atlantic is mine-ish. So I took Norway it was weakly defended, it'll help make pressure on Germans from the north, and may help in linking up with the Soviets thru Finland to bring them supplies etc. In Med I did historical operation Husky on historical schedule and took Sicily.

Japanese is clever enough to defend Malaya and Siam with coastal arty, but he didn't defend Sumatra so I landed there. Bye bye to 2 valuable resources for Japanese (at least this turn). Japanese continue their Australian adventure, but I retook New South Wales and Aus Outback this turn, and landed substantial forces there to begin pushing invaders from Australia once for all.

Germany - Fall 1943

We continued to press the Red Army on the Eastern Front. Their counterattack in the direction of the Baltics was cut off & destroyed, while our forces continued their own attack in the north, rounding Moscow & taking Gorki against minimal resistance.

Despite the loss of Norway (very hard to prevent in any case), we were able to damage or destroy several Allied transports - cutting the invaders off from outside assistance (for the time being).

Additional troops were sent East, West & South to continue to bolster our defenses.

"0wnZ0rZ"????

1337 sP34K d00d (leet speak dude)

1337 = leet (elite)

0wnZ = owns

0wnZ0rZ = like, really, really owns, I wiped the floor with his subs

sH1pZ = ships

sH1pZ0rZ = really mean huge ships, like Yamato

etc.

Sometimes, introducing typos on purpose is used to make wordz even more "menacing", like, "pwn" is even "stronger" form of "own", if you write "the" like "teh" then you're really teh c00l d00d etc.

It's murder of english language but is popular among new kids in online gaming communities (particulary FPS). I am personally too old for serious FPS gaming, but am easily fascinated by any new pseudo-social movement or lingo [8D] I find it funny to use this lingo in connection with a wargame [:D]

Fall 1943 - Japan

i almost missed that he invaded and took Sumatra. i had sent the Arty unit from there to Australia and had not sent in replacements yet [:-]

i retook Sumatra and repaired 1 of the 2 resources (oh yah i brought in some Coastal artillery too), although my Australian Campaign is almost over i did attack and destroy an undefended Resource in the far West of Aus.

SU. Did a usual "dance" of attacks and counter attacks, barely scraping the bottom of supply barrel to attack and retake some provinces in the north. Invaded East Turkey. I guess Germany is going to counter attack there immediatelly, but it'll cost him some effort and may lead to some holes in his southern defence for WA to capitalize upon.

WA. Relentless Japanese made me laugh... [:D] he invaded West Australia this turn! Whatever... I attacked Queensland, destroying INF and ARTY there. I retook Northern Aus as well. Gotta give credit to those pesky Bushido dudes though... [&o]

I attacked Finland from Norway, and took it. Seems like German over-stretched himself in the north... I expect German to attack Norway, Finland, Turkey next turn, but (we play without FOW) his reserves in Central Europe are very weak, and he can't be everywhere, so...

I kicked Italian navy from the Adriatic and wanted to invade - Albania. This rarely invaded country could help make pressure on southern GE flank. But then unexpected combat over South Italy which damaged Axis ARTY there led me to reconsider and atack South Italy instead.

This game is lots of fun as WA! I certainly hope we picked "no end date" option when starting this one (can't remember if we did right now).

unfortunately we are playing this game in a version before the No End Date game option was added to the game.

Germany - Winter 1944

With the loss of Finland, our position in northern Russia is in peril. Supplies were used to launch an attack on some massing Red Army forces, but we were unable to dislodge them from their positions.

In the South, our new Turkish allies were able to destroy a couple of Red Army infantry units, but the one armored unit remains. We doubt the Western Allies will be able to crack our defenses at this time.

1944 will be the decisive year of the war....

I think the old AAR's were so far out of date that they were all discontinued. There's a new AI AAR being posted, but since we're going to be focused on bug hunting the next few weeks, I doubt there will be a new PBEM AAR for awhile. We are implementing the last art changes this week and should be "officially" at beta by next week (although the gameplay has been at beta for awhile now).

We sat around the negotiating table and ironed out a tense peace agreement. We're currently living in Parallel Cold War with German-Japan alliance on one side and Freedom Alliance on the other. And waiting for Gary Grigsby's New Cold War (based on WAW engine).

That's it if you need to have a closure [:D]
