after about a week of fierce fighting, the AF and port are secure

only 1 ship has been sunk -

the PG Tui

other ships have hit mines or been bombed

and yes, ive transferred fighters in, there are 56 there on the field now

the AF and port are secure, but there are still about 4000 jap troops on the island, and ive ordered a defense of the AF, and an attack to finish em off and put em in irons [:D]

the seabees are already expanding the port, AF, and building new defenses [:D]

sum heavily damaged ships have docked in the ports, as they prolly wouldnt make it to the canal, and possibly not even lunga

and right now the port at shortland is much biigger than at munda, tho only half the size of the port at the canal

next i believe i will bring up more troops, run a few supply convoys to munda, henderson, and PM, and prepare to secure Buka and build it up into a fighter base, tho my plans for buka are not written in stone

we shall see

but for now, im going to secure and consolidate my newest base, and expand the AF and port and level a few more nordens at rabaul[:D]

i did sum badly needed cleaning

and im back at it again for the rest ofd the day



there is a situation

at bonis, on the island of bouganville, there is a jap infantry unit and 2 engineer units

also at buin, there are additioanl enemy forces

their position, is a direct threat to my right flank

and i have decided, that there will be a landing at bonis, of the 1st marines

and the 2nd marines, will land at buin

together they will clear bouganville of the japs, and at bonis, in place of buka, a fighter base will be built, if possible

this is my working plan of course and is nopt set in stone

but the orders are to secure the solomons, and with bouganville clear of the enemy, the solomons will largly be clear aof the enemy and complety MINE

and on my left flank

i intend, within 3 months or so, to make the floowing landings-

Lae
Salamaua
Finshcafen

with this, i will have my left pincer against rabaul, and my left flank will be secure

there are no other occupied bases in sight in new guinea, and i see no reason to take them

as for rabaul

before i invade, i intend to make a landing at Kavieng

and weaken the japs at rabaul for a few months before i invade

for right now my main concerns are-

1. send supply convoys to guadalcanal, pm, munda, and shortland
2. patch up badly damaged ships and send them either to noumea, or brisbane
3. patch up Sara a bit more
4. build up shortland
5. invade bouganville and secure it
6. stabilize the area a bit

and perhaps, hit Truk

little carrier raid

not much else goin on, except im withdrawing the troops and engineers at munda, sending them to shortland

they include elements of the 1st marines

elements of the 2nd marines will come up to shortland for the invasion of bouganville, and eventaully kavieng and rabaul

army troops, alot of aussies will spearhead the advance along my left flank

tho the marines are very good at jungle fighting, i don t have many of them, and i want to keep at l;east the 1st and 2nd marines on my right and army troops on my left

i really want the 3rd marines

then the 3rd could spearhead the invasion of lae while the aussies and army troops hit finshafen and salamaua

im also going to make a small landing at nassau bay

in a further development, a jap base has sprung up at bonis

theyre building an AF

its been decided

bouganville WILL be invaded within 1 month of this day

at the forefront once again will be the 1st and 2nd marine divisions, backed up by naval and air support

the 1st will land at bonis, and the 2nd at buin

they will launch an all out attack, take the AF and push the japs south

simultaneously, the 2nd marines will also attack all out, and drive them north

theyll be sandwiched between 2 marine divisions, and be crushed like a roach

then bonis will be built up into a fighter and bomber base or perhaps just a fighter base

then

i will transfer fighters there, and bombers to shortland and bonis, and hit rabaul daily if possible, or every iother day
