Well, winter prevented any amphib adventures this turn, but we move into the med to prepare to threaten Italy.

BUt there in teh midst of West germany is the largest gathering of combatants in one place since Verdun. Over 50 units! The entire board seemingly stripped for the climactic battle for denmark!

I'm in for a peeny, in for a pound as I did not have enough transport to ferry my units out, but I was able to double my commitment there pulling in just about all my force to out gun you in air and arty, and give you a run in Armor. You out number me in inf, but can you afford 50 supply and risking 20-30 losses to knock me out of Denmark? I got almost evry arty unit I had in - like 13 or 14 and a like number of air units to cover them and go after any arty you throw in, so any assualt is going to create carnage for both sides!

I can rebuild a like army in a year. Can You!

Oh, and the Russians are coming...

Japan - good job on the fleet battle Use up those supplies chasing me around [8D] Yor day will come. The less supply you have, the easier it will be!

Well, you got me on a technicality - I thought my air would Opfire at you going after my transorts moving from one adjacent area to an adjacent sea area - but that is only true when moving from an adjacent SEA AREA to ANOTHER adjacent SEA AREA...

Got me on a technicality! [:@]

21-10 - you just BARELY eecked it out! My rolls SUCKED - LUCK can beat skill every once in a while[:'(]

As it turns out the issue that nailed was not opfire, but the fact that units that retreat via sea transport are automatically DAMAGED, so without a SLOC back to a factory, they end up dead!

Safety tip - units that retreat from coastal province need a VERY well defended SLOC or they risk getting wiped. SInce Uboats can sneak through anything but CVs you need to garrison your SLOC with CVs and even then you a major uboat commitment can get you.

BEWARE![:-]

Just another reason not to D-Day in Denmark!! [:D][:D]

Sea Zone bordering Western France is much easier to defend....

Well, missing those little rules like "untis that retreat across a sea transport are DAMAGED doesn't help, when you think your guys will go back to Norway and then are dead instead [:o][:(]

IF AARs don't give good "lessons learned" they are not very interesting... I'm maybe giving too many

Even with that it still came down to a "50/50" roll essentially for the game...had I damaged another couple Germans, or had one less unit damaged myself, Germany would be screwed right now!

IF you want the decive victory, sometimes you need to take the big gamble! Considering the Allied supply situation, it was do or die!

Had I realized teh no retreat rule and done things just slightly differently, I could have at least ensured a supply line back to England - or interstingly - ensured I AVOIDED the supply line going back to England but going back to the US.

I can see actually a significant advantage to using Denmark as a "base of operations" - WITH an better defended supply line BACK TO THE US so losses you take in a disaster don't go back to England - but to the US.

Since the game is basically over now, If you guys are up for it, I'd like to go back and see if a slightly different approach to SLOC management would change the outcome any, or if Vance cuold still find a way to cut the supply line...
