I saw this only happen after installing the latest update for the game??? Could that be the problem??

Well, for the time being WAW is the only game I'm having problems with so I'll stick to the 5.4's. I do use driver cleaner and have tried about every combination of settings and still no go with hi-res. The game looks fine on Low Res so I'll just wait it out maybe the Cat 5.5's or if Omega does a 5.4 will do the trick.

thanks, love the game (just got my first decisive as Germany at Normal),

CMA,

Not sure, but if you are wlling to do a quick test, uninstall the game and reinstall it to the 1.005 (default installation) level and let me know if that makes a difference. Certainly, if it only happens in 1.016 that would give us more to go on.

kverdon,

Understood, please keep us posted if you find a combination of settings or a revision that solves the high res issue in your case. The difference is 16 bit vs. 32 bit graphics, that's pretty much all the low/high setting changes so we're dealing with some kind of problem displaying 32 bit graphics here.

Hi,

I've got an ATI Radeon 9600 video card, and I'm experiencing this graphic corruption problem on the *low*-quality graphic setting as well as the high-quality mode. I'm using the most recent Catalyst drivers from ATI (5.4) and applied the game patch. I've tried changing my desktop resolution to 1024x768, and turning off the in-game videos, but neither helped.

Computer specs:
AMD 1.4 GHz Thunderbird
512 MB RAM
128 MB Radeon Pro w/ Catalyst 5.4 driver
Soundblaster Live 5.1
21" Samsung SyncMaster CRT @ 1280 x 1024, 85 Hz refresh

I'll try reinstalling the original version of the game, and installing a different video card driver, and post a follow-up if either action fixes the problem.

I have an ATI PCI Express vidcard w/128MB and I'm not having any problems running in hi-res mode. I'm using the default drivers that came on the included CD with the vidcard. I'll post the specs of the card/drivers when I get home from work.

Update: My vidcard is a ATI Radeon X300 series with Catalyst 5.1.

I re-installed WaW last night and didn't apply the patch. I tried running it with various configs: windowed, low-rez, 1024x768, no videos, etc. but the graphics corruption always kicks in during or after the first battle (or sometimes before it).

I'll try reverting my ATI drivers to the previous version tonight, and see if that helps.

Reverting to the Catalyst 5.3 drivers didn't help either... sigh.[:(]

I guess I'm waiting for a patch to be able to play WaW. Oh well, the weather's been nice, maybe it's best not to be glued to a computer monitor more then I have to be.

Keith will be looking into this in the next few days to see if he can get around the pixelation problem. He may need some help from some of you that are having this problem. You should hear from us soon one way or the other.

9800 Pro 5.4 driver - I am also experiencing the problem with distortion of graphics - pretty much as listed above. Makes the game currently unplayable. Tried it in Windowed mode and distortion still occurs. Again as this is the only game currently causing issue I am not keen to revert to an older driver but otherwise willing to test to assist in resolution.

Tals

p.s I am on the v1.033 version

Note:
I have tried turning off the videos
Running low graphics

When I turned off the video at the point the video displays the screen still distorts for a split second. Also on any yes no dialogue I get the distortion as well as the other areas.

Last I heard, the programmer (Keith) sent a test exe out to one of the players that reported this problem. He is trying to get some information on the exact nature of the problem though the use of that test exe and once he has a fix he's likely to send it out to several of you to verify that it works.

If you are experiencing one of these graphics glitches and are willing to help out directly please let us know here (in addition to BeeDub and Tals that have already posted they are willing to help out with test). Thanks.

Ok just updated to 5.5 and it appears to have resolved the issue [:D]. Would need to test further but at this point videos now display correctly, yes/no dialogues and no other corruption detected. So looks like we have an A+ result. Many thanks

That's great news - can anyone else confirm that the v5.5 drivers resolve this issue for them?

Erik,

Well I'm running the 5.5 drivers on my Radeon X800XL AGP system and running 1.033 or GGWAW and I still have the graphics problem. I'd LOVE to help test any fix you might have in the works.

thanks,

No joy here, sorry to say. I have Catalyst 5.5 up and running and still have corruption. Same old, same old. The game starts clean and by the end of turn one both the main and battle screens are pixelated.

Hello everyone,

I have been working with Keith trying to fix the pixilation problem, so far the latest fix didn't work.

I have a Radeon 9700 Pro and I also have the latest catalyst 5.5 drivers.

Hope Matrix can get to the bottom of this. Unfortuneatly, my Video Card, ATI X800 XL AGP is only supported in 5.2 and new drivers so going back to an earlier driver is not an option.
