And why didn't Boise sink sooner under that heavy volume of fire, 117 hits?

Maybe the American ships saw how hopeless it was and fell back on the ancient naval warfare tactic. "Full ramming speed ...."[:D]

Working as designed.
The calculation overflow was fixed in this patch which leads to normal results. Prior to 1.5 the calculations for surface combat were incorrect.
You know, kinda like the air ASW routine.

She did sink right after the battle. None of those hits had any penatration. the only thing I ever saw was a .50 cal AA mount being destroyed. All other hits were deck armour, tower armor and the big belt armor hits.

Boy that is seriously, seriously broken. Do tell us if it resolves correctly if you re-run it.
If I saw that kind of result and could not fix it I would give up on the game completely, not worth playing if things like this happen.
Makes me a little nervous because I have seen Japanese TFs lead by CLs do really well against allied BBs too, I wonder if there is something going on with the guns, or some other aspect of the CLs? I fought Warspite against Jinstu, nothing like this but Jinstu effectively won the battle considering that in real life she would have lasted minutes.

RE: Yup the computer wins this round
were penetrations being reported in the combat animations? and if so, what hit locations?
RE: Yup the computer wins this round
The only penetrations were agains the DDs of both sides and a 14" shell that did a mag explosion on Marblehead. ALL of the other hits on BBs and Boise were non-penetrating hits.
RE: Yup the computer wins this round
very odd. Something definately wrong. Either a bug, something crazy in that particular OOB or perhaps a glitch in the animation not reporting another device hit.
I'd be interested in seeing the save myself.

Alright, I'm saying it before the press release, but since the cat is out of the bag.

Yea, you blew my first idea... i though it was a long range battle and you were getting deck penetrations by the 6" rounds which is physically impossible. It seems that the system did not allow that which is good and hats off to Gary & Mike.
However, we still got this f'ed up result. Don't know.

"17) Non-penetrating bomb hits may now do slightly more fire and system damage, depending on hit location."
I bet this is exactly what went wrong here, and it is number 17 under the Player Requested Features in the What's new for 1.50 document [:)] So we are all to blame for this.
Do not use Very Aggressive commanders in 1.50 or this might happen!!!
RE: Okay..this might be some bad computing
I'm not sure why exactly, but that CL Boise is one tough MoFo. I avoid it like the plauge! I attacked it once by itself (sorry didn't save the AAR) and it left 2 jap BBs and 2 jap CAs smoking and leaking , and it took 90 shell hits (some 14" some 8") 4 x 24" torps at 5000 yards at night before it sank...

Oh, one more thing, were there coastal guns involved? I don't remember that base having many but that might be a cause...

Any CD fire should come out in a separate attack report.
