With the failure of the Hirohito plan (grab all the islands from Alaska to New Zealand and setup a long range defensive network), I have had to fall back into a shell and yield many of the bases previously captured. The Hirohito plan requires that the IJN have plenty of carriers and aircraft left over after the initial advance to fend off any advances by the Allies from their far out outpost in Australia and the US. This didn't happen, and the failure to take Alaska and New Zealand didn't help either.

Aleutians

After the initial rush of battles this theater has really slowed down. Zeta has shown no indications that he will either invade Kiska or Attu. I think he is more or less satisfied with his advances here.

I have built up Petropavlask and Paramushiro and both are well stocked with infantry units and coastal guns. Any Allied advance would have to use one of these bases as the others just aren't large enough. There is also the 400 oil points at Ohka that Zeta might be interested in taking or destroying. This has already yielded me several hundred thousand oil points during the course of the scenario.

Central Pacific

This seems to be where Zeta's main advance will be. He already has a foothold in the Gilberts and the other islands should fall quickly. His strategy seems to be mass all his units into one giant force and then slowly roll over all opposition. I can't hope to stop this in the long run but I will put up a fight along the way.

I've setup some extensive defenses in the Marshall Islands and I wonder if Zeta wouldn't be better off just trying to skip the place. He could go through Truk or Wake instead.

In New Guinea I basically have nothing defending the place. It doesn't have any importance to the run of the scenario at this point. The Solomons are also useless. The key at this point is holding the Allies for as long as possible out of Saipan, the Phillippines, and the rest of the Dutch East Indies.

Dutch East Indies

Zeta was able to grab a base in Timor in 1943 before I was ready and he has used it to hop all the way up to Wasile. This caused me a lot of concern at the time and I had to rush reinforcements to Palau, Mindanao, Borneo, and Sumatra. Luckily, I now have at least some units are most locations where Zeta may want to go next. The oil producing bases are of most importance and they all have plenty of infantry to guard against invasions.

It is hard to determine where the Allies will go next. I am trying to force Zeta's hand a bit by building up areas to his west as much as possible. This left New Guinea wide open and defenseless but better there than Manila. Once he gets up there the oil will no longer make it back to the factories in Japan.

I figure he will continue on towards toward the east and then take Rabaul. From here he can prepare for an attack against Truk and the other Caroline Islands. The Carolines will serve as a platform for the main attack against the Mariana Islands. Then he can start bombing Japan will B-29s.

India

I managed to manuever past Zeta's first line of defense in Burma but he has plenty of reserves waiting in other areas. However once I get the bulk of my army safely across the trails I don't think my advance can be stopped. The port at Chandpur can be taken and more supply brought up for the advance across the Ganges.

Yep Jolo gives me a foward base towards the PI. I am more worried about the mve on Indai and will give the Japanese as much hell as I can. I have a lot of points to make up and a long way to go. I have a few surprises up my sleve in a next few game months.
