Germany Spring 1942
Eastern Front
Army Group North
1 Bmr from Finland attacks 2 Allied transports in Norwegian Sea and manages to destroy 1 Transport. The bomber crews feel immense satisfaction from such a mission, as they know soon enough those transports will be loaded with invaders...
1 Inf from Prussia along with 1 Tac Bmr from W. Germany attacks the Soviet Infantry defending the Baltic States. The Soviet Inf is destroyed and the province taken with no German losses.
1 Bmr from Prussia, escorted by the Ftr in Leningrad, attack the Soviet forces in Vologda and manage to damage 1 Arty. Both planes return safely.
4 Panzer from Leningrad are orders to do a "recon in force" in Velikiye Luki. The Soviets have 4 Inf, 1 Militia, 1 Arty and 1 AA gun. The Soviet defenses are indeed well prepared as 2 German Panzers are damaged in the attack. The Soviets suffer 2 Inf and 1 AA gun damaged.
Army Group Center
1 Inf and 1 Panzer from Prussia, with support from 1 Inf in Hungary attack E. Poland where the Soviets have 4 Inf defending. (I actually was planning on bringing more, but I accidently clicked the battle button). 1 German Inf was destroyed, while 2 Soviet Inf were damaged. German retreat follows.
The second wave is now thrown against E. Poland. 2 Inf, 1 Panzer and 1 Arty from Rumania attack the Soviet defenders. Both remaining Soviet Infantry are destroyed with no German casualties and the German Army once again occupies E. Poland.
1 Inf and 1 Panzer from Rumania now strike the isolated Soviet Tank which occupies W. Poland and utterly destroy her, with no German losses.
1 Bmr stationed in Prague strikes the Soviet forces in Belarussia and manage to damage 1 Arty, while returning safely to base.
Army Group South
Hit and run is the name of the game this spring, especially in the south.
2 Inf, 1 Arty and 1 Panzer strike Odessa which is defended by 3 Soviet Inf and 3 Militia. Our attack is a brilliant success and 2 Soviet Inf are damaged and 1 Militia destroyed, at no cost to Germany. Our forces quietly withdrawl back to Rumania.
Inspired by our earlier attack a second action is taken in Odessa. 1 Inf and 1 Militia from Rumania attack the remaining Soviets (1 Inf and 2 Militia). This time our forces damage 1 Inf and destroy 1 Militia while losing 1 German Militia in return. Our forces again withdrawl back to Rumania.
All attacks completed German forces dig in and further reinforcements are brought up to the front. Our land link to Leningrad is restored, which is even more important now that 2 Allied subs are loose in the Baltic.

Japan Spring 1942
The Emperor, enraged that the Japanese airforce ceased daylight raids over Chunkiang, ordered that the attacks resume. "The Chinese army is on the verge of collapse gentlemen and now is not the time to give her rest", proclaimed the Emperor. The Japanese commanders, never ones to voluntarily offer their heads, of course immediately resumed the attack.
4 CAG, 2 Tac Bmr, 2 Bmr and 2 Ftr's were immediately sent to the Chinese capital to unleash the Emperor's will. Casualties were again high as 1 Ftr and 1 Bmr were damaged by concentrated AA fire. 2 Chinese Inf were damaged and 1 Militia destroyed.
The Army, utterly unconvinced that China could be defeated from the air, decided to interpret the Emperor's command in an entirely unintended way. The Army decided that if one swift kick could be made, the whole rotten Chinese Army would collapse.
The first step of the bold and extremely risky plan was to cut off the Chinese defenders in the Capital from the rest of the country. To this end 1 Para and 1 Arty from Lanchow were sent to Yumen in order to complete the siege. The attack was flawless and the territory was swiftly taken with no casualties.
Before the Chinese Army could react to their northern flank, the might of the Japanese Imperial Army was swarming the Capital. 15 Japanese Inf along with 3 Arty from the surrounding provinces moved against the Chinese Capital and the entire Chinese Army. In the madness that followed, the Chinese Army was completely encircled and destroyed! Chunkiang was finally ours! China had fallen!
The Emperor was shocked. He had ordered that bombing resume to wear down the Chinese and had no intention of commiting such a dangerous gamble. If it had not paid off, if we had failed to take the capital, surely all of China would have been lost.
All efforts and energy must now be directed towards solidifying our Chinese posessions and preparing for the next round. The Emperor is now faced with the difficult decision of where to strike next. With Germany in such bad shape, her only chance of salvation may be a Japanese atteck on Siberia. On the other hand, with China now subdued perhaps our forces can now be swung East in preparation for the US, and south to sieze those precious resources....

Russia Spring 42
STAVKA decides that the time is not right to go on the offensive... yet. However, an armored recon is force is made from Kiev. 5 Russian armor units engage a German force of 1 tank, 1 arty, 1 TAC, 8 Inf, and 1 Militia. The T-34 are thought to be nearly invincable, and it was hoped they would cause many casualties. However, the overwhelming numbers of disciplined, battle hardened German Infantry hold fast, damaging a T-34 unit, with only a german infantry damaged. The general staff has learned a costly lesson.
Archangel was re-taken in a minor action. Perhaps if the north can be secured, the Brits can ship in needed resources.
Strategic Bombing Command makes a daring (for them) airraid on Rumanian airbases, for no effect.
STAVKA orders all troops to dig in! It will be a long hot summer.

China Spring 41
The incompetent Chinese fail to secure a line of retreat to the north, and pay dearly. Chungking is taken by the Japs, with heavy, heavy loses.
The Communist vow to fight to the end! Hopefully, Russia can send supplies.

Wallies Spring 42
The 2 British Submarine fleets stay in the Baltic, hitting the whole of the German fleet. 1 Transport is damaged to no losses.
The RAF is again the only British military arm that can attack the Axis:
2 Bombers leave England for a long range mission to Finland. They bomb the runways there, damaging a german bomber (this bomber has been a real PITA, operating as a anti-shipping bomber in the Artic).
2 CAG'S and a Lancaster attack west Germany itself, gunning for the factories of Hamburg. 1 factory and 1 RR are damaged, and, the RN pilots AGAIN show their proficency in fighting the Stuka... 1 TAC is destroyed.
Airstrike to the Netherlands destroys one militia (I probably should decide if I am going to kill units or infrastructure, and stick to one or the other).
An airstrike into the West Med from the Canaries damages a sub and a trans.
While the English rank and file are very happy at the very limited loses of their fighting men, Parliment grumbles over Churchhill's lack of aggressiveness.
There are plenty of invadable region in Tyler's Fortress Europe (after a good bombing anyway), however, most of my ground forces were destroyed in the Finland foray (perhaps I should have put just enough force there to be a bother, than pretty much everything I had). While I think the air raids are somewhat hurting the Axis ( especially the unexpected destruction of several German TAC's), it still feels like it's very minor. As far as the subs go, I think they are one way to really annoy the Axis in the Med, and the research points will go a long way because subs will be useful in the Pacific as well. Good sub tech will force the Germans to either use alot of air/DD power to control, or spend precious RP's in a basically dead end tech.

Germany Summer 1942
Its now been over a year since our ill-fated attack on the Soviet Union was launched and Germany is being pressured on all fronts. Throwing everything it can into the Soviet meat grinder, the High Command is at least relieved that our eastern front has not collapsed. Determined to attempt to regain the initiative, the High Command sets it's sights on re-capturing the Ukranian capital of Kiev. As if the monumental difficulties our brave fighting men have endured against the Soviet Army isn't enough, the lack of supply at the front has created all kinds of additional hardships. Having made it through the harsh Russian winter without a complete collapse was a great moral boost for the Wehrmacht, however the lack of supply has made undertaking offensive operations, as well as partisan control, very difficult.
1 Inf from Rumania moves into Odessa, destroying the Soviet Militia and occupying the province.
1 Tac Bmr from Rumania along with 1 Bmr from Austria attacks Kiev and manages to damage 1 Soviet Arty. Our planes did not escape unscathed however and our Tac Bmr was damaged.
Having softened up our target the main bulk of the Wehrmacht moves to engage the Soviet defenders. 10 Inf, 3 Panzer and 2 Arty are sent into the region against the Soviet forces consisting of 4 Inf, 2 Militia, 4 Tanks and 1 Arty. The attack turns out to be a very well executed plan and the Soviet defenders are sent reeling from the German onslaught. German forces suffer 1 Arty destroyed in the attack, however the Soviet losses are significantly higher with 1 Tank and 1 AA gun damaged as well as 2 Inf, 2 Militia and an Arty destroyed. Moral is high among the soldiers and the generals pleased, except they all know what a long road they are on.
In a logistics nightmare some clerk in Copenhagen read a memo wrong and ordered an AA gun be shipped east. The result was horrible as both the AA gun and the transport carrying it were destroyed by Allied subs.
1 Bmr from Prussia sortied into Belorussia in order to strike Arty concentrations reported there. They were unable to find their target until almost out of fuel, and the resulting attack failed to hit their target.
In another display of the absolute lack of any effective airpower, 2 Luftwaffe Ftrs take off from Denmark to strike the allied forces in Skagerrak. 3 CAG bi-planes were more than a match for the German fighters however and fought us off. We suffered 1 damaged Ftr and the Tommies suffered 1 damaged CAG. The high Command has considered restoring some Zeppelins, surely the would be able to put up at least AS good a fight as our modern airforce.
Meanwhile on the western front ... troops and what limited supply we have available, is moved into position to defend Europe from the expected British assault. Although the situation in the east has been grim to say the least, I am even more concerned with the west. The United Kingdom alone looks more than capable of opening and holding a second front. German planners absolutely go pale when any discussion on US entry into the war is made.

Japan Summer 1942
With the fall of Chunkiang and with it any meaningful threat from the Chinese, the Japanese army is now focused on cleaning up. Chinese partisans must be brought under control and her industry repaired if we are to utilize our new prize for our next step. The industrialists back in Japan are pleased however as their state-of-the-art factories are finally starting to see the resources so desperately needed.
With the dismal failure of Germany to pressure Stalin, the Soviet border with Manchuria is very well defended and any effort to open a second front would be difficult indeed. Likewise, the Emperor is concerned that any move against the European colonies in the Pacific will surely bring the United States and her considerable economic power into the war.
Only the Emperor know what god plans for Japan....

Russia Summer 1942
Air raids are made against Rumania. 2 TAC's from along the Black Sea hit the Armor and 2 Militia, destroying 1 Militia. Strat Commands bomber in Moscow then does a follow up raid for no damage.
STAVKA considers sending it's armored force in a "end around" to again destroy the Rumanian oil fields. However, this will most likely mean the loss of 4 T-34 Divisions. Instead, the British military liasion in Moscow points out that British subs have driven German shipping from the Baltic. A new, daring plan is hatched.
Army Group North is a formidable force, and holds Leningrad. However, they are somewhat low on supplies (7). STAVKA will attempt Operation "Bobski Barkervich" (Neuter) to cut off Leningrad, and lower their supplies, with the goal of making them relatively harmless for a season or two.
First, East Poalnd, defended by 4 German Inf, is attacked by 6 Soviet Inf, 2 Mil, and 4 Arty. The initial artillery barrage totally shocks the 4 german (all damaged on the range 2 shots) units and the Soviet Inf then mop up (all German Inf destroyed) with light loses (2 Soviet Inf Damaged). Soviet T-34's then roll north.
East Prussia, guarded by 1 German Inf, is taken by 1 Soviet Armor (German Inf destroyed).
The Baltic States is then Blitzed by 4 Soviet Armored Corps. The one German Armor and one Infantry are damaged, and one German Strat is forced to retreat. No Soviet losses, and this battle has drawn 1 supply away from Leningrad (6).
1 Russain Inf and 2 Militia attack Karelia from Archangel. The lone Finnish Inf defending is forced to retreat. Again, supplies were drwan from Leningrad(5).
4 suppy in Leningrad.
The Germans will have a hard time resupplying Leningrad as 2 British sub flotilla's are in the Baltic. Leningrad can be relieved by Army Group South in Kiev, but this, along with repairing the RR's, would be expensive. Soviet units were moved into position to deter this, and possibly counter-attack. Things could get very bloody, and a very mobile battle could ensue in Western Russia.

Geneva - The International Red Cross issued a report today on the "Leningrad Incident". Reports indicate that STAVKA fielded a large division of convicts, "undesirables", and "enemies of the state". This large Division, named "Special Militia" was then ordered to attack Leningrad, against the bulk of Army Group North. The promised "rolling" artillery barrage unfortunately fell BEHIND the advancing Soviets, as did most of the heavy weapons fire. The Soviet "Specail Militia" was utterly destroyed. This situation is being investigated, but the Soviets are not cooperating. The British Home Office has no comment.

CAG in the Canaries destroys Italian Transport in West Med.
2 RAF fighters Air Raid the German Ftr in Spain. The German is destroyed, but 1 Spit is damaged in the dogfight, while the other is damaged by AA fire.
1 CAG in the Skagerrak blockading fleet Port Attacks Western Germany, destroying a Transport. (This leaves 1 Transport available to the Germans, not enough to reach Leningrad).
1 CV weighs anchor, and steams to the Norwegian Sea. It's CAG attacks Finland, for no results. (but the supply for Finland was drawn from Leningrad (3))
The British army scrapes men, artillery, and supplies together for the "Spainish Exp. Force".
4 Lancasters from England, along with a pre-invasion BB barrage of the beaches, attack the 4 Militia amd 1 Arty in Spain. 1 Militia is destroyed, and the Arty is damaged.
A TAC and another BB then follow up with more beach bombardment, destroying the other 2 militia.
The "SEF" lands, and is reinforced. This consists of 3 Inf, 2 Arty, 1 AA, 2 Ftr, and 10 Supply.
The RN finds the Transports neccessary to send 22 supplies to Archangel. Also, 10 supplies arrive to Russia via Afganistan.
The Australian Merchant Marine puts into port.
England considers lower the minimum age and maximum age for conscription.
Canada fields a Paratroop division, and it is prepared to deploy. These fearsome men, armed with Thompsons, have been trained in the dense woods of BC and the frigid tundra
of the Yukon. Known for hand-to-hand combat, many a German will feel the blade of their "combat axes", and their brutal killing blow "cross-checks".

Churchill and Stalin will be having a 12 day meeting on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Mao-Tse and Chang will be their personal servants (for botching things in China), delivering cold beers and margaritas, fresh steamed and peeled shrimp, and rubbing them down with suntan lotion (eeewwwww, don't try to picture THAT!).
I will be on vacation, so no posts or turns till June 14th.

Germany Fall 1942
Eastern Front
Our forces in Leningrad must be relieved! I do not think I have enough forces or supplies to effectively cut off the Soviet army in Poland but we must try. The English have already landed on the continent and Russia is at the gates of Berlin all the while the United States cowardly hides behind her neutrality and supplies everything under the sun to our enemies. The situation is indeed bleak and rumours from our spies in Washington confirm the United States is eager to enter the war and sieze her share of the spoils before the Soviets take it all. We shall see!
We must cut a line through the Soviet forces if we are to link up with Leningrad. Both Velikiye Luki and Belorussia must be taken. Our operation begins in Leningrad...
1 Panzer and 1 Arty from Leningrad strike south and attack the Soviet Infantry defending Velikiye Luki. The province is taken but we suffer 1 Arty damaged in the assault. the Soviet infantry is destroyed.
Forces from Kiev have been assigned the task of smashing the considerable Soviet forces defending Belarussia...
5 Inf, 3 Panzer and 2 Arty attack the Soviet defenders consisting of 2 Inf, 3 Militia, 2 Arty and 1 AA gun. Our losses are heavy but the province is taken and a land route once again exists between Berlin and Leningrad. German losses were 2 Inf damaged and 2 arty destroyed. Soviet losses were 1 Inf and 1 AA gun damaged, as well as 2 Militia and 2 Arty destroyed.
Men and equipment are rushed to fill the gap and have been ordered by the High Command to hold out at all cost. The men dig in valiantly as they realise their fate is most likely to never see Germany again.
In a battle of little consequence our Ftr in Denmark strikes at the English U-boats in the Baltic with no result.

Germany Fall 1942
Western Front
The Allies in Spain must not be allowed to remain or France shall be in mortal danger. Commanders are ordered to prepare for the attack on the BEF (British Expeditionary Force) in Spain.
The Luftwaffe makes the first move as 3 Ftrs and 1 Tac Bmr strike targets in Spain. The attacks are relatively successful and Britain losses 2 Ftrs (1 damaged and 1 destroyed). The Luftwaffe suffers 2 Ftrs damaged.
The ground attack can now begin. Even though the commanders on the ground had very limited resources and men at their disposal for the attack, High Command was pleased upon hearing their plans and prospects for success were very good (70 something %) I believe...
German forces involved in the attack were 1 Bmr, 2 inf, 5 Militia, 1 Arty, 4 AA guns along with BB support from the Italian Navy. The English forces consisted of 3 Inf, 2 Arty and 1 AA gun. Unfortunately our attack was doggedly repulsed by the English and our plan to drive the English back into the sea was not to be. German losses were 1 Bmr and 1 BB damaged and 2 militia and 1 Arty destroyed. The British losses were 1 AA gun damaged and 2 Arty destroyed.

Japan Fall 1942
China is firmly in the Emperor's hand and our great war with them is almost at an end. A greater threat looms over the horizon however and I feel I am woefully unprepared for active US involvement in the Pacific. Our Embassy in Washington informs us that the United States is likely to declare war by Winter 1943. This gives us little time to divert our forces from China, but we shall do all that can be done!
I forgot to take a screen shot of my Japanese Empire, but we control every Chinese territory except for Sinkiang which should fall next season. All Chinese resources are repaired and partisans are under firm control. II am now in the process of repositioning my forces and building supply. It is also these moments when I look at my tech level for Japan and wince, those US subs are going to a MAJOR headache...

RE: Monty vs Tyler PBEM AAR
Stalin and Churchill enjoyed sunny skies in Nag's Head, meeting with Roosevelt over Margaritas at Tortuga's Lie. The Americans made a commitment to enter the war no later than the Winter of 43.
Chang was provided a small cottage on the beach, and has set up a government in exile (if you are familiar with Nag's Head, you knw the one I am talking about.. it is literally only a high tide or two from slipping into the ocean... it is ON the beach!).
Mao, citing "transportation difficulties" has not yet returned to Sinkiang....

Russia Fall 42 (cont.)
As more timid members of STAVKA feared, the situation at the front has gotten ugly. Most members want to resupply the salient by air, and hunker down. However, Zhukov overrules, adamantly declaring that the Polish salient must be not only relieved, but reinforced!
In the dead of night, Russian bombers leave Moscow in route to Poland, loaded with supplies. Kiev is held by 7 GE Inf, and 1 AA. It is attacked from 2 sides by 2 TAC, 2 Armor (from the Balt. St), 5 Arty and 5 Inf. The Russian Arty again leads of with a devasting barrage, and Kiev is taken. Losses for the Germans are 1 Inf Dam, 4 Inf Dest, and the AA Dest. 3 Russian Arty's are damaged by German Infantry charges, 2 Rusiian Inf are Dam, and 1 Russian TAC is destroyed by AA fire.
Supplies are scrapped to gether to repair the Kiev RR, and AA are moved into Poland to guard against the Germans resupplying Leningrad via the air. Artillery and armor is concentrated in West Poland and Kiev. The Germans will easily take back Prussia and the Baltic States, but the Salient is intact.
The Russian Military liasion in London is instructed to plead for continued Lend Lease and Murmansk Convoys.
The 75mm cannon is now standard on almost all Russian tanks. (GA 8).

China Fall 42
The Chinese People wonder where Mao is??? 4 Inf in Sinkiang, vs 3 Jap Inf next door. I think they may make it 1 more turn, at least.
