Russia Summer 43
STAVKA has plenty of troops and material now, unfortunately, they are "in the rear with the gear". However, the pressure will be kept on Germany.. attack, attack, attack.
Poland is hit by 3 Inf, 4 Arm, 2 Arty. The Germans defend with 1 Ftr, 3 Inf, and 2 Arm. The battle is on-sided, as the battle hardened Russia front line troops take no losses, damaging 2 Inf, and destroying the other as well as a Arm. 1 Armor is held in reserve, and Blitzes into Czechoslavakia. This armor will most likely be lost to counterattack, but not before it destroys vital German factories and resource centers.
The remainder of the turn is spent moving suipplies to the front to fix rail lines, and moving troops up from distant production centers.
Russian TAC's finally move from Bi-planes to mono-planes (EV=5), and Russian Armor is again up-gunned (GA=9).

Supplies are stocked, transports loaded, and the high seas secure! Now the problem of where to hit and how.
4 Strat leave England, and attack Northern Italy overflying Spain. A BB bombardment is also undertaken. The 2 TAC, 2 Mil, Inf, Arm, and AA are all uneffected, while 1 strat is damaged. The RAF vows to only use Strats in the future for strategic, and anti-air bombing.
2 Strats and a Ftr raid the Northern Italy airfields, damaging 1 German TAC, and destroying the other. Much better results.
3 Inf, 1 Mil, 2 AA, and 3 Arty then advance on North Italy with BB support. The Germans defend their south flank with 1 Arm, 1 AA, 2 Mil, and 1 Inf. The Germans hold, destroying 1 Arty and Militia, and damaging an Inf. German loses are 1 AA destroyed, and 2 Militia destroyed.
2 TAC's groundstrike 2 Militia in the Netherlands, destroying them both. Hopefully, the Allies are wearing down German manpower.
Spain is taken via Gibralter unopposed.

I will agree with Tyler on the U-boats/Subs. While I think by tech, CAG's, and stacking ALOT of units, the Battle of the Atlantic can be mostly won, I don't know how the Japs can win. Maybe researching ASW from the begining, but this means much less tech for CAG's, ships, etc.

2 Ftr's from France are sent to attack the Allied fleet off the coast. I was hoping I could hit a transport but instead, like the green pilots they are, they proceed to attack the Battleship and cruiser escort. What a waste of resources...
1 Ftr from W. Germany attacks Soviet Tank in Czechoslovakia to soften it up for ground attack. 1 Panzer and 1 Inf then proceed to strike the Tank and liberate Czechoslovakia. Both Tanks are damaged and we take province.
1 Bmr from E. Germany strikes W. Poland with BB support. Soviet Arty is damaged.
1 Ftr from Rumania attacks Soviet bomber in E. Poland but fails to hit the target and is subsequently damaged by Soviet AA gun.

Japan Fall 1943
The Emperor orders that the enemy subs be driven from our waters. Japanese war ministers assure the Emperor that there are in fact no enemy subs in the Pacific and quietly slip out of the room.
On the war front no ground is gained and our attemps to damage some uboats fail miserably. Only the fact that several are now out of ammunition prevents further IJN losses.

The Russian Bear marches on. STAVKA implores their field commanders to take as much German territory as possible. Losses are immaterial. At this point Russia has the capability to take twice as many battle casualties and still win the war.
German air power in Rumania is dealt with. 2 TAC's and a Ftr strike a German Ftr and Strat on airfields there. Although the Russia Ftr is outclasses, the TAC's manage to bomb the German planes on the runways. Both German flights are damaged, while the Russian Ftr is damaged as well.
1 Arm and 1 Inf attack the lone German Inf in Hungary. Both Inf are damaged, and Russian armor rolls into Budepest.
2 TAC's softenup Yugoslavia, which is defended by 3 militia. 2 Mil are destroyed, and then Russian Paratroops air drop into Belgrade, taking out the remaining defending Militia. This will make the only retreat route from Rumania into un-supplied Bulgaria.
Rumania is attacked by 2 Arm, 8 Inf, 5 Arty, and a AA, against 1 Para, 2 Arm, 7 Inf, 3 Mil, and 1 Arty defending. STAVKA estimates their chances of success as 66%. They are victorious, dmg 1 Arm, dst 1 Arm, dmg 5 Inf, dst 2 Inf, dst 3 Mil, and dmg 1 Arty. The tough German Paratroops survive, and retreat to Bulgaria. Russian loses are 1 Arm dmg, 3 Inf dmg, 1 Arty dmg, and 1 AA dmg.
Both sides near Berlin are war weary, and beaten up. The Russia's only have 4 Arm, 3 Inf, and 1 Arty with which to attack. Berlin is defended by 2 Arm, 1 Inf, 1 Arty, an AA, and a Strat. 3 Militia will be formed for defense as well. This is a FAR cry from the huge forces arrayed in Russia not 1 year previous. However, the order is given to drive forward, and the Russian's are victorious! Berlin Falls! Russian loses are 2 Arm dmg, 1 Inf dmg, 1 Arty dmg. The Germans lose 1 Arm dmg, 1 Inf dmg, 1 Arty dmg, 1 AA dmg, and 2 Mil dst. The remaining 1 Armor and1 Militia retreat to West Germany.
Finland is taken by 4 Militia vs. 1. with 1 militia dst on each side.
In a bloodless battle, the militia in E Prussia repulses an attack by 1 Russian Militia.

The hammer is falling as the will of the german soldier to fight has all but dissapeared. The Fuhrer has not been seen in days and rumours fly everywhere. Still, the soldier must do his duty and orders are sent for our Winter attacks.
1 Bmr with BB support strikes East Germany in hopes of damaging Arty. Both the Bmr and hits support BB fail to hit their target. The Soviet guns are able to damage the BB.
As a result of our failed attack in the East, Berlin simply has too many forces to attempt an assault. High command reviews its options and decides to strike the Allies in the Netherlands. The Allies look vulnerable and if we can drive them back to the sea this could buy us two seasons in the West. The blood of the German soldier is again commited to a last, desperate attack. If we succeed High Command can then commit our forces to holding off the Communist hordes.
We begin our attack with an air assault...

The boys of the Luftwaffe, knowing full well how they have failed to meet expectations throughout the war, take to the skies with renewed vigour. We destroy the Allied Ftr and damage the Tac Bmr. We suffer 1 Ftr damaged and High Command is pleased.
Our land assault can now begin, as every unit available is commited to the attack.

STAVKA, and Zhukov, realize the obvious.. the Russian army has outran their logistics train. Even though Russian troops occupy Berlin, they have neither the force nor supplies to hit West Germany. This turn is spent repairing railroads, and moving men to the front for the final defeat of the Wehrmacht.

RE: Monty vs Tyler PBEM AAR
Germany Spring 1944
An attempt must be made to open a corridor to Southern France!
To begin the attack 3 Ftr's are sent to Eastern France to soften up positions there.
3 inf, 1 Panzer, 1 Militia and 1 Arty then move across the Rhine and push back the Allied defenders consisting of 2 Inf and 2 Para. Allies suffer both Para damaged and we suffer 1 Inf damaged. Eastern France in back in German hands.
Our two remaining Cruisers are ordered to scuttle their vessels and so are sent against the English Navy in the Scottish Sea. Their brave captains steam head first into the English big guns and are promptly destroyed.
Our one remaining transport is loaded with loot from the war and heads out to sea in an attempt to slip by the English and head for the coast of Greenland. Unfortunately the transport is found by a CAG and sunk en route.
Our scientists have reported a breakthrough in Panzer armour (Evasion - 9) Unfortunately the news is greeted with little enthusiasm.

Stalin wants ALL of Germany! The attack is ordered, with an estimated chance of success of 58%. 7 Armor, 5 Inf, and 5 Arty, attack the germans 5 Ftr, 1 Armor, 8 Inf, 6 Mil, 2 Arty, and 5 AA. The brave Germans, knowing how Stalin treats his enemies, fight for their lives, and repulse the Russian hordes. The Germans lose 1 Arm dmg, 1 Inf dmg, 1 Arty dmg, and 4 AA dmg (which bodes well for the allied bombers). The Russians lose 1 Arm dmg, 2 Inf dmgd and 2 dstd, and 4 Arty dmgd. Stalin is furious, as this means his attack has likely made it possible for the Western Allies to take West Germany.
Forces are move to Vladivostok to partake in the spoils of Japan's fall.
China Sp '44
4 Inf from Yumen attack a unsupplies Japanese Inf and Para in Lanchow. 2 Chinese Inf are dmgd, and 1 Japanese Inf is dst, and the retaking of China is thwarted before it has begun. Who will rule China after Japan's fall (actually, a pretty good question... would the USA have made the call since they defeated Japan, would Russia have made they call since they had land based forces to invade, or would there still be a Nationalist/Communist fight over the power vacuum left by the Japanese...discuss)

West Germany is invaded by 1 Armor, 1 Inf, and 1 Mil, with a BB and 3 DD's supporting, while the Rhine is crossed by 2 Arm, 4 Inf, 2 Arty, and an AA. It is also invaded via Austria by 6 Inf, an Arty, and a AA, and, to top things off, the air support is 4 Ftrs, 7 Strats, and a TAC. The Germans last defense is 1 Arm, 7 Inf, an AA, and 5 Mil. There is a 84% chance of success (which seems a bit low). The Wallies lose 1 Mil destroyed on the beach, 4 Ftr's dmgd, 1 strat dmgd, 1 Arm dmgd, 1 AA dmgd. The Germans lose all 5 Ftrs dmgd, 7 Inf dmgd and the reamianing 2 dst, the AA dst, and the 5 Mil dst.

Kyushu is invaded by 2 Inf, destroying the 2 Militlia defending.
Anzac forces start retaking SW Asia.

Germany Summer 1944
All is silent on the Western Front...
Germany is defeated and her people begin the long road to recovery and acceptance. Unfortunately a large block of Europe is now in the Soviet sphere and we fear the shadow of Communism will loom large in Europes future.
