Oh man, I just read the news on Yahoo. I hate extremists of any kind. They think about no one but themselves. Well keep in mind, Great Britain is truly GREAT!
After 16 years, Civ II still has me in it's clutches LOL!!!
Now CIV IV has me in it's evil clutches!
On days like these we are all British!
Sincere regards and condolences to all victims and their families.
When you take a look at those people you can see it is called Great Britain for a reason!
This morning the Wall Street Journal editorialized "...an impressive sight yesterday, in Gleneagles, Scotland, of British Prime Minister Tony Blair responding to the London terror attacks flanked in solidarity by all the world's major leaders."
Let's all hope those world leaders keep that resolve.
"I hate newspapermen. They come into camp and pick up their camp rumors and print them as facts. I regard them as spies, which, in truth, they are. If I killed them all there would be news from Hell before breakfast."- W.T. Sherman
Looks like total deaths are over 50 but will be under 100.
Pathetic Terrorists. They will never win this way.
I'm proud to be British looking at how we acted yesterday. Our emergency services were great and people remained calm and controlled. It would've been easy to panic but in general people didn't.
May justice be served on those who carried out these attacks.
Just to update everyone, I took a walk between about 12noon and 2pm from near Baker Street, down to Oxford Street, along to Covent Garden, and down to Charing Cross. It is pretty much business as usual. Of the hundreds of shops and restaurants I passed, only ONE was closed that I noticed (my dentist, co-incidently). A few seemed quieter than usual, with less customers and staff, but I'm not sure I would have noticed if I wasn't looking out for it. The streets were a little quieter, both in terms of peds and traffic. But again not dramatically so.
I'm suspecting a lot of people thought this might be the best excuse they are going to get in a while to take Friday off and have a long weekend!
Buses are running, and I hear so are all mainline stations, with reduced services at Kings Cross. A lot of the Tube is up too. I got the Tube from Charing Cross back to Baker Street and it was a lot emptier than usual, unsurprisingly. But there was a regular service.
Everyone is a little subdued, and the cops are travelling in threes for some reason, but apart from that and the stuff I already mentioned, it is business as usual.
Just to confirm the latest I heard from several sources, the numbers are 50 dead and 700 injured. I think some of the injured are in serious condition, but I don'tknow how many.
Hondo
First wargame: Jedko's 1st edition "The Russian Campaign". First computer wargame: don't remember the name, but it was on punch cards.
I plan to travel via London tomorrow. Am I right in thinking there's no Circle or Hammersmith and City Line. Hence to get to Liverpool Street from Padd best go on Central Line friom Lancaster Gate?
Glad to here that the great resilience we're accustomed from our fellow Allies is not lacking, and out pours my deepest sympathy for your losses.
The UK has always stepped forward when combating such evil forces and the USA feels great admiration that we can be there as a partner and we will not relinquish the effort.
The mere fact that such scum sucking cowards, muddling in the the excretions of evil could even have any likeness to my species is quite disheartening. These dispecable creatures crawl on their bellies in the sickening refuse of mindlessness and they will meet the day of reckoning....for we are coming for you......and Hell is coming with us.
My other half exited Aldgate East 5 -10 mins before the bomb so was on the 1 or 2 trains before the bombed one. There was nothing going to stop her going back into work this morning. She called from work to say that everyone in her office of 50+ made it in as well just to show this cowardly pond life that nothing will stop us Londoners from enjoying our way of life and freedom. Something for these scum to think about is that London is the greatest multi-cultural city on Earth. They not only struck at christian Anglo saxons but at Muslims, Jews, Hindi's etc - there will be dead and injured from a great selection of the 200 different cultures and faiths who generally live in remarkable harmony here.
Yes were mad about it but also we feel pity for those so lacking in human values that they could strike at working class people regardless of faith, culture or politics in such a cruel cowardly way.
They will be caught. It may take years (lockerbie). Mad yeah but we will get even.
Just thought I'd post this to give you a small idea of what is going on.
I am a WitP player and post there now and again. I am also a Detective at Scotland Yard as some of you know. I was stuck on a tube platform when the system went down - mercifully nowhere near the incidents. I got up to ground level and did what every one else did - tried to get a bus. When news filtered through as to what had happened I headed for the nearest office. Since then I have been at one of the hospitals where casualties were taken, between 12 and 16 hours a day. Today they made me take a day off - no good burnt out. Can't and don't want to really discuss details.
However I can assure you of a few things:
The hospital staff are fantastic - words are not enough.
Myself and my colleagues are working our butts off - and we want to.
No stone will be left unturned.
My apologies to by PBEM friends for suspension of play.
