Spr45 :
As noted, the Japs are poised for a major invasion somewhere in the Pacific. This is Spr45 ! Italian subs report no combat ships in port on the W coast of USA, Panama, nor Hawaii.

In the Atlantic, Italian BB again sneaked past Gibraltrar to damage the Brit BB w of Gibraltrar and send the other Brit ships into Bay of Biscay. One begins to wonder what restricts the Italians from invading Gibraltrar.

A lone Brit tank has moved across central Africa to capture Italian E Africa. Without transports, one wonders what it is now to do. Another is trundling across N Africa...but with no sea supply and few combat units...it is fearful of the rear for food and water supplies. It is hot in this part of the world.

The Allied troops in Sicily might as well be in POW. Some 4 inf + 3 MIL + 1 flak have been surviving there for a year. Awaiting good news is depressing as there have not even been subs to provide cheer and fresh supplies. Being ignored by Italian/German forces seen moving around us...is the ultimate insult.

The G continue to reinforce Iraq to the noted disappointment of R forces in N Persia. This discourages capture of S Persia and leaving N Persia somewhat vulnerable to G advancement and then zero supply for the R forces. G has some 20 supply in theatre for activities.

The only bright spot is the gradual westward crawl of G forces. Even this is somewhat disallusional as evidenced by the air raid this turn. One R Bmbr destroyed and one R Bmbr damaged...not to mention the additional 2 damaged ground artillery. This G is also notorious for traps with his multitude of tanks. Advancing without tanks of R as noted in the R commentary above is an invitation to who knows what sum of mayhem.

To avoid further distress, I, the German; offer the option for my opponents to surrender to the Axis powers...per the attached email sent to them.

To my opponents...Al and Wayne :
My observation of the Pacific is that there exist no Allied shipping in theatre other than transports awaiting demolition on the seas.

Likewise, the Atlantic also looks bereft of allied combat ships.

Without combat ships, prosecution of the war against Japan is a non-starter.
The war against Germany can be pursued...but becomes less and less likely to succeed. I note the Brits are finally building some fighters. He will need sufficient to equal my ftr forces over W germany before H Bmbrs dare appear in skies over W Germany.

Air battles this turn over W France resolved 4 Brit air destroyed to 4 G air damaged. The troops meandering their way to Netherlands, E France, S France were likewise obliterated.

Russia is starting to move westward. It's economy and repair of rail infrastructure to get supplies and troops to the front line will be a hindrance. The Japs are advancing from the East as a further restraint on supplies.

I offer honourable surrender to you.
I admit saluting Wobbly for NOT giving up on the game.
I expect Ben and I would accept a counter match with us being the Allies. If i were to be allies, i humbly ask for either of +5 supply or +1 combat. Game would be v 1.040 .

Should your admission of surrender be acceptable to you, I ask that each puts in commentary to the AAR on the Matrix web site. I-being Germany would be first, followed by Japan, Russia, Allies.

I suspect some of my fellow gamers were annoyed if not indignant of my offer. The game continues.

SU45...G did a smashing job of destroying some 8 brit air in France.
In return, Brits do some damage to G air in N Italy. YES, N Italy continues to produce well for the Axis cause!

15 Brit Bmbrs @ England + some 27 units in W France do cause a worry however.

Fall45 :
The Iraqian G forces destroyed the R forces in N Persia freeing the road for another incursion into the soft underbelly of Russia. Should it occur, it is thought there is little stopping the G juggernaut. Plentiful supplies are available and 2 currently free routes into Russia are exposed. Oh, NOT to be a russian!!

G Su46 completed.
[&o][&o][&o]Nary a Russian in sight.[:'(] [X(][X(][X(]

The Brits got courageous[:o] and advanced toward Italy.
...too few, too late..and all that rot. The majority of them were quietly
put out of their misery.[>:]

G BB patrol the approaches to the W Med and W Germany.
It is hoped that they will divert the attention of his air force.

[X(][X(]
Belatedly, Spr46...the Brits finally sent sufficient air power to attack W German
air defences. While 5 likely suffered the big death...8 return to play again. :)

Germany eagerly awaits the final posting of Fall46 to see WHERE the allies might push.
Italy or Germany....certainly NOT both! The Germans want to try out their final triumph...er trick. Participation by the allies is necessary to try it though.

Pathetic 33 Brit transports remain.
but i do admit for myself...even with +5 supply,
My Allies fail to beat the German and Italian forces by Fall46 against the computer AI.
Granted...my computer AI Russian ally was no where near as effective as Ben-my Jap partner in this game...has been. Thankyou MUCH BEN!

Some commentary on the game would be nice.
The final victory screen was more or less as expected by all.
more commentary AFTER picture...

well...
The initial situation of the Allied march over North Africa was dismaying. On other hand...burning those supplies early in the game can only be a godsend to the Germans. As long as the Germans can hold Italy...who cares about N Africa.

The survival of Italy was suspect. His invasion of Sicily which i somewhat gave him...allowed me an out. I then proceeded to bomb the Brit MED fleet to smithereens. Building sea power in G Hvy Bombers is likely NOT a good idea...but it worked brilliantly throughout this game.

The advance into Russia came to a screeching halt after the first turn. I am sure my colleague Ben of the Japs was somewhat frustrated with me. I simply wanted to build my tech up prior to pushing forward. Lost Germans NEVER return and the manpower pool is finite...being larger than Japan but smaller than Russia OR USA/Brits. This waiting was hard on me too.

It is my belief that the allies MUST maintain a supply line to S America and Africa for the resources. The cost and how to do this is as much mystery to me as any allied player who subsequently lost the game. I do NOT have an answer!

Other commentary...
BEN of JAPAN:
At one point in the game, the German push into Russia had completely
stalled
after a one province advance, and I could see a hammer and anvil
descending
upon Japan in the shape of a east Russian offensive and the US Pacific
fleet. The Allied air-groups were also beginning to hit Western Europe.
I
informed Mike we had lost & that he should pull back to defend his core
territories.

The very next season I managed to scatter or destroy the US Pacific
fleet
and the Russian offensive failed to materialise. I couldn't quite
believe
that luck. I have sent some feedback to Wayne on the Russian defence
recently, not sure if it was useful or not!

About July 1, 2005
Hi Mike,

The Allies launched an air-raid into France last season. Two of your factories & your resource point was destroyed, one factory damaged. The rail-line was hit too. Those things were not repaired at the end of your turn. He had 4 heavy bombers damaged.

If I were you I would abandon the air-defence of Netherlands in order to concentrate your flak & fighters in France + Western Germany. Otherwise I think he will be able to overwhelm you in any location he chooses. That would enable him to make a landing in Netherlands aswell probably, but otherwise he shall be able to destroy your anti-air piecemeal.

I would only have been able to move about 1/4 of my troops out of the way of the Russian, which would have made his attack even easier, so I kept still. The lone militia in Mongolia was destroyed.

Ben

Where is the allies getting resources for his factories to run ? YES, i seen the tanks on the Eastern R border ready to bang your Jap forces. I was wondering if you would pull back before he attacks, perhaps placing them on islands w and s of Japan proper. I seen ONE allied transport NE of Japan...and anticipated you sinking it this turn with your carrier air. I did not see the Allied fleet in N Pacific so cannot comment upon it. To my knowledge, he has NOT done any air-raids INTO Europe as yet. Granted, my 4 AA against his 10 H Bmbrs will only stop 4 of them once he starts.

I trust you defended your Manchuria resources against his lone inf in Mongolia.

Mike, rebuilding in Afghanistan & Persia I would consider the same as throwing away supplies. The Russian can overwhelm you there at will. He already has sufficient units to take Northern Persia this turn.

I see this game as lost. The Russian & the Allied player are going to double-team me now (notice the 6 tanks moved onto my border + the number of transports with the Allied fleet in the North Pacific) and there is no way I can sustain resistance to that. Meanwhile your production is crippled, your manpower must be close to running out & the best you can hope for is to hold on to what you have already i.e. you cannot advance into Russia or prevent further air-raids over Western Europe.

The fact that the Ally doesn't have transports around Australia means he is most likely using them to support his invasion fleet instead. I wouldn't call his production limited though, it's more than yours & mine added together.

The Ruskies keep taking it on the chin.
Then again...i am uncertain how long i can continue doing such...successfully.

The attack on Denmark was done. I had to do it...BEFORE his tech overwhelmed me.
A little disappointment that his damaged tanks appeared to return back to England.
I only had 2 tech to build this turn. :(
6 factories could NOT produce due to lack of resources. :( :(.

What you think of rebuilding some of Afghanistan, etc. ?

Note...no transports around Australia...implies limited production ?
