Update Plans

Crown of Glory: Europe in the Age of Napoleon, the player controls one of the crowned potentates of Europe in the Napoleonic Era, wielding authority over his nation's military strategy, economic development, diplomatic relations, and social organization. It is a very thorough simulation of the entire Napoleonic Era - spanning from 1799 to 1820, from the dockyards in Lisbon to the frozen wastes of Holy Mother Russia.

The list of changes and fixes will be most welcome. Here's a couple more I hope get addressed soon.

1- Fleets 'landlocked' inside a province and then unable to move out. I have seen this so many times now in the two games versus the AI I have played I can't help but wonder why it wasn't fixed before release.

2- AI Diplomats move to an ocean region and stay there forever, never to move again. Ditto above for the frequency - in fact after 5-6 years of gameplay you won't have to worry about enemy diplomats anymore ;)

3- Lancer build bug, happened to me as both France and Spain. It gives me the option to build yet when I click on it nothing happens except a 'hesitation' in the build queue. Thought perhaps it was a bug with my level of barracks but even after raising the barracks level I get the same result, no Lancer.

More of a wish - I see the tactical AI is being looked into, I hope the Strategic AI gets a good going over as well. One thing it should almost always do but never does is leave an Army or Corps in its home province instead of sending all its troops towards the enemy capital. Looking forward to the patch.

When are the unstoppable and far ranging cossacks going to go? This is the biggest game killer for me.

I have read that saved games will be able to be used post patch, do we know if ongoing PBEM will be compatible? Also, will it matter if not all members of the PBEM ring have applied the patch?

Thanks

well, off hand, I would say any game that is being played and that can be played after a patch, that all the players would need to be patched for that game to go on, things have changed, so all people would need to have the changes ?????

Yes I would expect that to be the case..... another thought on existing PBEM, does it matter when in the turn cycle we patch? Should it be with the first player in the cycle, or can it be applied by any player in any order?

Given the existing PBEM games going on, some instruction with regard to how to integrate the patch would be helpful

So...I've been holding off playing the game waiting for the patch. I've been checking the site everyday looking for the patch. It's now Thursday, will we be getting the patch today? Thanks in advance.

PBEM 1.0 games should load properly in 1.1. All players must have 1.1 then, as 1.1 games will not be loadable in 1.0. (There's a built in converter that converts 1.0 => 1.1 upon load; the file formats are actually a bit different.)

The "landlocked fleets" did show up in beta testing, but we only had two reports of it and we weren't able to reproduce it. We have some small clues as to what might be causing it (military units expelled from conquered provinces) and hope to address it in the second patch. The first patch is primarily addressing the CTD's, some aspects of the multiprovince bug, and adds a save/restore game feature in single player detailed combat.

Right now, it's looking good for a release later tonight. We were not able to address all of the multi-province issues with this release, but we hit a few of the major ones. I expect the rest to be cleaned up with v1.2.

However, other than that this addresses all significant bugs reported to date, makes some nice adjustments and adds some requested features. I think you will all be quite happy with v1.1. Most important thing to note is that for those who were getting crashes, this update appears to resolve every last one, based on our testing.

Great news! I've cited you guys elsewhere as an example of how game support ought to be done. Thanks for all your effort and responsiveness.

I think my words were "stunningly epic underachievement." Oh well, fewer distractions from CoG.
