Hi, I don't think it is the program not updating I think it was just a matter of recon. (The screwy numbers are a hint since he reported more active then even exists)

Hi, Nomad. If you want to know the real state of city targets (HI, oil, ressources) set one of your unit with enough range to city attack and the game will display the real numbers without FOW.

Now that Maniac Mogami has updated his computer I guess I should update the AAR.

So, we just did 1/1/42 execution, and one item I liked:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at Manila

Japanese Shock attack

Attacking force 144633 troops, 1622 guns, 267 vehicles

Defending force 61237 troops, 521 guns, 166 vehicles

Japanese assault odds: 0 to 1 (fort level 2)

Japanese ground losses:
8885 casualties reported This is good [:D]
Guns lost 208 This is not bad either
Vehicles lost 26

Allied ground losses:
1321 casualties reported
Guns lost 65
Vehicles lost 3

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think this might have been the first turn that no base was captured by Mogami.

I do not like the looks of this:

SIG INT REPORT FOR 01/01/42

1st Mixed Brigade is planning for an attack on Uglahamensk.

It does look like Maniac Mogami is headed to Russia. [:'(]

I moved all of the Russian aircraft to rear area bases, I will try to not get them killed on the first turn.

He hasn't taken all of the SRA yet, so I think a Russian attack might be a few days down the road. But, the only important oil base left in the SRA is Batavia. And he has troops commited to Malaya and a few in Burma. [:(][X(][8|]

I have no idea what or when Maniac Mogami is going to do. I don't even want to think about it. I'm going to have some down at Bullwinkles.

this is not looking good at all. [:(][:@][&:] It really is time for

I don't remember if I posted it, but I did change the North Pacific Command to arrive at Karachi. I have North Pacific Units landing at Karachi all ready( fast boat trip [:D] ) I'm not sure if this is considered 'gamey' or not, but this is the gamy game here anyway. Most of my PI troops were in manila so Mog will be able to take the last 3 bases with little effort and I expect he is all ready moving APs to Manila to move his LCUs to start the Russian invasion. [X(][:(][:'(]

Well, no sense worring about russia, I can't do a damn thing about it. but like Big Mac always said and of course

How do you do that? I mean make NP units arrive at Karachi?

Another question is WHY would you do that but I can think of couple reasons here myself [:D]

Well Oleg, I just paid the PPs to changed NP to be a SEAC unit. The next turn it disappeared and was scheduled to arrive in Karachi in 60 days. All units reporting to NP now arrive in Karachi. This is a wide open, gamey to the max game so unlike the real life people I do not care that much if Mog takes some of the bases in the NP. On the other hand the Inf Regiments and SeaBee units will be very useful in India. [:D]

Edit: Of course only after the russian activation...

Great trick. The amount of gameyness available to Allied player does not stop to amaze me even after many months of playing this game. This is yet another house rule I need to add to the list when playing my "serious" IJN games [8D]

Don't think this is gamey (for the most part, at least in moving regular LCUs) - it was deliberately built into the game to simulate shipping troops around the Cape of Good Hope to India. Sixty days seems about right for this.

Moving static CD units from West Coast to Karachi would be considered "gamey" by almost anyone, though!![:'(]

Okay here we go everyone. This post is to start oddsmaking on who thinks who's gonna win the war. Same as is done before major UFC fights, viewers can state who they think will win and an explanation for their choices. Everyone is welcome!! Even dumb newbies like me.

Once a few people have participated I will begin a running odds value. Please pick one player to win, don't say "I don't know cause they are both doing everything so well. I vote for both." or something lame like that. I will add my choice and explanation when I've finished reading this report.

So who do you think is gonna win everyone? [:)]

rtrapasso I dont think its at all gamey to pay pp points for each unit to transfer them to India what I think we would all find gamey is to send an HQ like NorPac to karachi and then for the computer to automatically (and for free PP points wse) transfer every unit reporting to that HQ in the reinforcement que to Karachi.

In a no limits game fine but I would balk over this in anyother game as this is saving the allied player thousands of points and 60 days.

Its great in this game theough !!!

I would agree here Andy. One thing is that all the reinforcements still arrive at the same time at Karachi as they would have at SF. If a 60 day delay was built in for them it would be ok to do in any game for me. But not the way it is. Only in this wide open game.

The way i understand PP(i could be wrong) is if you transfer the HQ unit (i.e. ABDA to SWPAC) units that arrive or are already present are still assigned to ABDA - but ABDA as a unit is no longer in command. I think you would be shooting yourself in the foot somewhat if you tried assigning NORPAC to SEASIA. Your arriving NORPAC units would stay on the West Coast, but their commander would be 10000 miles away.

The existing NorPac units on the map are a bit far from their HQ, but that can be changed later if necessary. The units in the reinforcement que are arriving at Karachi( some are there now [:D] ).

In my last email to/from Mogami:

Me:
Looks like russian invasion is soon. PI is pretty clear( Bataan will be easy ), Batavia should fall this turn. Will you
clear out Malaya first? Or not worry about it?

Mog:
I don't see how I can do without Singapore.
There are 344 turns before the first AV check. In order to get AV Japan must inflict high enemy loss while keeping own low. Japan must aquire many bases. Japan will however run out of supply in the spring if resource/oil not enroute home so the SRA remains critical to plan.
The basic plan is simple. Rather then have SAA fight the war alone Kwantung and CEA will help by moving towards locations that do not require loading onto ships (spending PP)
This will result in SAA having more then double the historic number of units for use against locations that do require transport on ship.

If Phase II of SAA Operations can begin prior to 1 May 1942 then Japan is ahead of historic schedule with double the strength. Historically Batan lasted till mid May. Singapore till mid Feb

All but a couple of minor islands of the PI are in the hands of Japan. Only Batavia remains on Java. No serious activity in Malaya yet, but it is coming.

Here is a status screen as of 1/20/42. Not looking real good. I will lose a bunch in Malaya, can't help it at this time. I am pinning most of my hopes on holding India. there are a lot of points availabe to Mog in India. Maybe I can force some losses on him in the future. I still do not know where KB is now. When/if I know I could try some raids into his are to gain a few points.
