YES!

We have been waiting. Hope that you can do it the way you did Pacific war!
I am bit [8|] about what happens to plotting which has it's good sides. I think you could impore it Matrix!

But anyways,
GREAT!
I've tried Pacific War and for me it seems to be a disaster - it takes too much time to play.

I hope WiR 4 won't demand you to sacrifice your family, job and all other activities.

This is Panzer General 1 with more accurate history. The separate execution phase is what sets WiR apart from a huge bunch of other wargames. Instead of improving the concept to a single execution phase for both players (all units moving simultaneously, just like in real life), it gets thrashed. Yuck.

I could not agree more with you, K62!

Even simply improving some of the graphics and (maybe) adding roads to the existing raillines in WiR would be a big improvement over the existing actual IGO-UGO games on the market (Pz General, all the HPS titles, etc.).

I am sure that somehow, somewhere, someone will understand that a seperate executional phase form from plotting orders IS the way to go. The question is when???

Map is the first thing which should be improved. Since I live in Poznan (not marked on the WiR map, exactly halfway from Warsaw to Berlin) I am amazed how one could draw such inaccurate map.

And there are some things which could be even corrected in ver. 3.3 - for example cities like Warsaw and Krakow should not have any German manpower (Poles didn't join Wehrmacht). As a matter of fact there was strong resistance near Warsaw so partisants should affect that area as well. Kiev, Lvov, Zhitomir and other Ukrainian cities should have some German manpower (it is estimated over 1 million Ukrainians and Russians fought agaist the Soviet Union).

Warsaw and Krakow should have manpower when they're seized by the Soviets - there were at least 10 Polish inf. div. in the Red Army (what you can notice in 1944 campaign).

Your best bet is probably to post the question on the General Discussion forum. I doubt any staff ever come here. Either that or ask 2b3/Matrix directly via email.

Sigh-

I'm really beginning to wonder if this game is going to see the light of day. With the Talonsoft announcement, we strategic east fronters seem to being left behind.... [:-]

I'd be thrilled for someone from Matrix to stop by and say... "Hey, we're working on it. Announcement soon." [&:]

Please. [&o]

Wasn't East Front a Talonsoft title?

Ok, I must admit that Napoleon in Russia isn't covering the same time frame but it is still an east fronter's game [;)]

Btw, WiR without an executional phase just isn't WiR anymore. There are many other WWII eastern front games on the market.

Yes, East Front was an Eastern Front game, but it wasn't strategic. I'm unaware of any other strategic East Front games except for Schwerpunkt's line. Which I haven't revisited in a year or two, but wasn't happy with at the time.

Like Itsjustme said, WiR is a strategic wargame. For me, the best at the moment, even Old Dos based wargame! Yes, all we know its not perfect but we are talking about it after 14 years! This game is so "different". If Gary makes the game, even without the executional phase, sure you will see the best STRATEGIC game from eastern front. Just you can see Uncommon Valor and WitP to take a look of he can do !
Only I hope Wir4 is on the way but I think We must to wait... still more...

There is one more series of games which are excellent: V for Victory. Really cool and realistic.

Subject: Re: Questions about USSR1941-1945

We don't expect the game to be published until 2007 at the earliest. We have
been waiting for months for a development map and we are now a few days or
week away from finally getting it. Once we have it Mike Wood can dive back
into the project (assuming we can pull him away from War in the Pacific
patches). I wish I had more info to tell you, but that's the situation.
Hopefully 2006 will see this game will finally be in full development.

No, it cant be true... Joel Billings is DiRaC? After all time I spend reading your posts, now you are one of 2by3 masters! Amazing...
You know WiR is maybe the most old wargames and still active!. Just an issue today! Many people , even unactive now, will come back when we have more news from your company. More from Matrix decided to finnish WiR in 3.3.
If I can demand some from you, try to do the most to the new WiR become a reality soon. Looking 2by3 can do, Im very sure it will be the best East Front strategic ever made.

Fully agree with you on the V4V/World@War games. They are very good. I bought all of them (Utah Beach, Velikye Luki , Arnhem, Stalingrad, Operation Crusade) and played them endlessly, although not in PBEM mode.

The big difference is that WIR is a strategic game, while the V4V/W@W games are on a tactical/operational level. There are no games comparable to WIR. I just bought World at War from Matrix, but although the game seems to be great, it's not WIR.

That's why I joined the ever growing legion waiting for the successor to WIR, the best war game ever made.

I fully understand that for Matrix and 2by3 games covering the little sideshow in the Pacific is more interesting from a commercial point of view, but Gary, please, take care of us die-hards!!! [&o]

Stalingrad and Operation Crusade? Never heard of! Is it another campaign of V4V?

It's more or less a successor to the V4V series. You can download it here: http://www.the-underdogs.org/game.php?id=1284 I'm not sure tough it will install and run properly...

Now this is a historic post, Josan writing that he lost a game. [:D]

As for WIR and wives, I think this merits a seperate topic, but I'm not going to open it...
