Hi, I think this game will go ballistic in another 30-45 turns.
SAA has to rest and refit in PI and then be transported to new objectives. Malaya and Sumatra have to be secured. ANd then there are a few odds and ends that need tidy up phase to complete.
After that there will be a few battles to report.

I guess this game is dead. I sent my turn to Mogami and got no return for over a day. I sent an email asking if he got it or not and got no response. I resent my turn to him last night and I have not gotten any response. At this time I have no idea what is happening. [&:]

Ya Mog's been quiet around the clubhouse lately. Maybe he's gotten dysentary or something from the stress of managing so many games all together.

Nomad, your situation is a bit dicey. But you're an allied legend so I reckon you'll pull through in the end somehow.

To the Mog: Be careful!! Nomad may have writting his AAR all depressing and what not to deceive you into making a blunder! Nomad's probably groveling and clucking in his dark den whilst crafting deadly strategic complications now as you are reading this.

About the preparations for Russia, could be fake. I know I'd prep for Russia with all the Manchukuians just incase I decided to take the plunge into Russia later on but initially have no intent (still trying to figure out how to beat Singapore and the Philippines [:o]). But in this case the crazy Mog will surely take on Russia. Mogami would do a vigorous dance of joy if he took Hawaii, Russia and India all together while I'd do the dance if only I could get Java. [:o]

If Mog's had a brain aneurysm, maybe he'll let me take over his side as IJN. How do you think I'd do? [:'(] You'd better have plenty of beer Nomad if you ever go up against me!! ...to give me a tiny chance of survival.

I got a turn from Mog with the comment that he had been sick for a few days. Not much happened for that turn. I expect he is cleaning up and getting ready for the big push. I wish I knew where it was going to be. [:)]

Hi, OK just so everyone understands. If I start a game I play till it's over or the other guy asks for the game to end. The only way I won't finish a game is if I have to go take a dirt nap (Felt like I was close to that this week) So if you don't hear from me for a day or two don't panic. If it gets to more then a week then my machine exploded or I am in the pokey or under a tree. In the event of the first two 1. I'll get a new machine somehow and be back. 2. They'll let me out after 30 days or so and I'll be back. 3. I'll haunt your computer

In the event of 3, get an old priest and a young priest....
Sing to the tune of "Man on the Flying Trapeze"
..Oh! We fly o'er the treetops with inches to spare,
There's smoke in the cockpit and gray in my hair.
The tracers look fine as a strafin' we go.
But, brother, we're TOO God damn low...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at Rabaul

Japanese Shock attack

Attacking force 6873 troops, 74 guns, 2 vehicles

Defending force 0 troops, 0 guns, 0 vehicles

Japanese engineers reduce fortifications to 2

Japanese assault odds: 296 to 1 (fort level 2)

Japanese forces CAPTURE Rabaul base !!!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Good thing I bailed out earlier. Any troops would have ended up toast in a turn or two. [8D]
Now Mog can worry about rebuilding Rabaul. [:D]

Still looking for the 'gamey' things he is to do. I have not seen much out of the ordinary
in this game so far. He did accerate the pace a bit and on retrospect I think I might have
given him too much respect. Oh well, not to worry. He hasn't won yet( see my sig ) [:D]

Hi, The "destroyed base" has 20 damage. There are 1000+ Japanese engineers there.
Soon very soon this game will become more interesting. Japan has 4 major operations currently under way.

Hi, Bite me....An Operation is a series of strategic movements coordinated to secure an objective. Each strategic movement is carried out by tactical formations. At the end of an Operation the enemy will have suffered material or positional loss in ratios high enough to justify the forces employed.

Anyone looking at the map and date?

Speaking of map and date, Nomad is there any chance of a screenshot to help us along here? I reckon the readers would like to see China, Burma/SRA area and maybe even a strategic picture. I guess with Mog snooping around in this thread you are reluctant to show your hand. A screeny would be nice all the same.

Hi, Japanese forces are taking their final positions prior to opening campaign against USSR.
In Malaya a Japanese landing to South has forced Allies into retreat or be cut off from Singapore.

Attacking the U.S.S.R.

Post by mogami »

Hi, I've never attacked the Soviets before. I actually consider it something only a low life would do because the OOB is not correct and Soviets cannot move to prepare defense prior to being activated.
However it is harder then I first thought.
Several items.
1. You may not plot inactivate Soviet bases for naval bombardment or troop landings. So the soviets must first be "woke up" before Japan can do this.
2. The Soviets have a lot of fighters
3. Soviet LCU are pretty good and there are several large gatherings of them.
4. It is next to impossible to get all the Japanese accross the border on the same turn and along most of the front they will be conducting river crossings.

My conclusion is there is no easy way to knock them out other then bringing overwhelming force. Japan could lose the war if they wake up the Soviets and don't knock out their offensive power within a month or two. However if Soviets can be destroyed then Kwantung Army can mostly move into China and this will result in Chinese always being forced onto the defensive for rest of war.
At least 5k assault strength in units can then be redeployed into Burma. This totally frees SAA for use in Pacific. (And still provide for reinforcement of SAA according to availabilty of PP)

In "Beer made me do it" I discovered SAA does not have stength to invade USA West Coast. (let alone aquire SRA and provide for defense of this area) However with Kwantung And CEA reinforcement the problem becomes one of transport and supply and not troop availabilty.

So I am going to attempt a rapid mass attack along Soviet border designed to isolate the strong Soviet pockets from their supply points and then reduce them one at a time.

At conclusion of Soviet Operation SAA will mount a massive operation against US forces in Pacific perhaps all the way to USA west Coast.

Hi, The three "Lunacy" games are experiments. They are not actual games of WITP because there are no house rules to prevent exploiting weakness in WITP. In these games I am attempting to do exactly what bothers me most. Turn China in desisive theather. Engage Japan in yet another war (USSR) in short take a route to victory not actully available to Japan in WWII. I'm not fighting the Pacific war I'm "playing" WITP Japan conquers the world" These games should not be taken too serious.
The reason they are called "Lunacy games" is because only a lunatic Allied player whould agree to play under these conditions.
