Bollocks too. There were ZERO planes covering Gasmata. Why on Earth would I waste planes on bombing an empty base even if there were in Coral Sea....nincompoop
I scoff at your pathetic attempt of power. Come to me westerner. Near Kwajalein suit you? I can be there within a week

They didn't bomb at all. I have NO KB planes anywhere in the entire map set to bomb any base. What a waste of planes that would be.

RE: Speedy vs Nikademus - Nik Mod 4.0
Hi all,
An action packed couple of days for the 8/9th January 1942......
--------------
Sea War -
CL Adelaide attempted to interfere with landings at Lae. Unfortunately the weak Allied crew were scared off by the escorting Gunboat. Morale is at a high eh Nik? [:D]
I-154 patrolling near Soerabaja was hit by a DC from some patrolling MSW's...they would pay for it on the 9th though.
--------------
Air war -
Lots going on today.
Firstly, Nik attempted to interfere with the focres at Amboina with a CV group (presumed Hermes). 8 x Swordfish took off and scratched the paint of BB Yamashiro. Silly Nik will pay for this though....you'll see.........
KB had fun in the Coral Sea (yeah Nik). It found a convoy which I think has dumped stuff in PM. It was attacked due SE of Lunga. Unfortunately for Nik at least 5 x AP, 2 x AK and 1 x PG were sunk for no lost planes.........
Mini-KB was patrolling south of Kendari and attacked some AK's at Kendari sinking 2 of them with the escorts downing 3 Brewsters.
At Singkawang Nik reacted violently from Java sending Martins, B17C's etc to attack the shipping. Minor hits were obtained on a couple of AK's.
Betties from Kuching attacked the MSW group near Java on 9th sinking 1 MSW and heavily damaging 2 more.
---------------------
Land War -
In Malaya the army reached Johore Bharu.........
Amboina was captured along with:
Singkawang
Guinan
Manokwari
Kavieng
Shortlands
Gasmata
Dadjangas
Death to Nik

Hi all,
The 10th and 11th Jaunary 1942.................
-------------------
Sea War -
SS-154 patrolling due east of Soerabaja played a cat and mouse game with a Dutch MSW. Neither party left any welcoming presents.
SS Sargo leads a charmed life after being attacked by my APD ASW group AGAIN south of Okinawa. No hits recorded.
-------------------
Air War -
Clark Field was bombed on both days from Aparri. Even at 22,000 feet my experienced boys are achieving some hits. Not many but some. No losses reported.
Not much over Malaya.
Singkawang saw the most intense air action over the 2 days. Martins and Forts from Java attacked shipping on both days. Brewsters and Demons escorted the bombers. A series of nice little air battles ensued whilst the bombers dropped their load from a great height. Based at Singkawang are some Nates and Oscars of the 11th Fighter Sentai. These are veterans with an average experience of 81 [:)]
The relatively inexperienced Dutch could not cope with the aerial abilities of my pilots. Over the 2 days 9 Brewsters and 5 Demons were shot down for the loss of 1 Oscar (pilot bailed out successfully) [8D] No damage was sustained on my ships.
Nells from Kuching targetted a couple of transports at Balikpapan. The TK Anastasia and an AK were hit by 2 torpedo's and both quickly settled to the watery depths. The AD Black Hawk also bore a fish but still appears to be afloat.
------------------------
Land War -
Lots of landings occured over the expanding Empire -
Buin
Finschafen
Emirau Islands
Noemfoor
Dagau
Jesselton and Dagau were both taken.
The first major combat has occured on Malaya! The Commonwealth has made a foolish stand at the gates of Singapore: Johore Bharu. Average defences have been constructed but my assault overcame the 1st line. Casualties were reported as 2000 Japanese against 1200 Allied. The defenders are vastly outnumbered though and will soon be building roads and railways [8D]
-----------------------
Air losses:
Allied: 16 (15 A2A)
Japanese: 9 (6 ops)

Pfff. Not so foolish. Commonwealth forces made a successful stand at Johre Bharu behind 5 fort levels. The Japanese major attack was stopped cold in it's tracks (0:1 mod'd combat odds) with heavy casualties inflicted on the attackers in exchange for a slight errosion of the forward defensive positions. In addition to casuing nearly 2000 casuaties, it has bought valuable time for the defenders currently digging in at Fortress Singapore. [:D]
Percy-boy only wishes the Japanese had conducted a Banzai(shock) attack. They'd have gotten an even worse slap.
God save the Queen!

I am very interested in how you guys are finding the mod. This AAR was good enough for me to download the mod and will try it against the AI.
How is it affecting your game planning? The game speed? How different does it play from the normal game?
Thanks

RE: Speedy vs Nikademus - Nik Mod 4.0
Hi walkerd,
Glad you like it. It's a fine mod I must say.
It affects the game speed a fair bit. One of the main reasons being is that Flak is effective now. As such air raids are either flown at a higher altitiude or higher losses are taken. If flown higher then less damage will be caused to the airbase = no more smiting and Death Staring bases.
A further change is that as the Japanese you now no longer only have the Zero 'to play with' at game start. The Oscar is an effecitve aircraft if flown by experienced pilots. It can more than handle the rag tag assembly of Allied stuff in the SRA on a plan vs plane basis but also due ti the higher experience of the IJA pilots. Even Nate's can do ok at the right point.
It depends which version of the Mod yuou have but sub's are also more durable now and as such can withstand some ASW attacks. The latter Mod version is made with regard to the upcoming patch from Matrix which will tweak ASW as well.
Also in the Mod Transport capacities have been HALVED. As such it takes longer to get your men (as the Japanese) anyhow where you want them = slower pace of invasions.
China - there are now NO resources/industry at the forward cities and the Chinese have level 9 forts. As such it's not really profitable as the Japanese to advance anywhere in China IMO.
We've not had a CV vs CV battle yet but i've done some testing on this after Nik showed me some examples and I like the way the air model is handled in this respect. Basically you no longer have the 'Zero Wall of Death' tm [;)]. You will find that planes will get through the CAP. Whether it be leakers or en masse depends on the circumstances. As such you have to be more careful with KB and where you send it.
I think that about covers it.
If you have any others questions feel free to ask.
Enjoy the Mod!
Regards,
Steven
P.S,. Death to Nik

RE: Speedy vs Nikademus - Nik Mod 4.0
Hi all,
The expansion of the Empire continued on the 12/13th January 1942............no major setbacks.
-----------------
Sea War -
Just to prove nowhere is safe from my power the ML Prince of Orange was attacked by an I-boat near the Indian coast. The torpedo's missed. After investigation it was decided that the crew were laughing too hard firstly at the poor excuse of a minesweeper and secondly at it's name that they cocked up the firing solution [;)]
A Dutch sub tried to intefere with the invasion forces bound for Pontianak. It eluded my escorts.......for now.
--------------------------
Air War -
Clark is bombed again from 22,000 feet. No losses and some minor damage to a large warehouse was observed.
The Allied airforce tried once more in vain to interfere over western Borneo with attacks on shipping at Pontianak and Singkawang. Minor damage was sustained to a couple of AK's. The 11th Sentai is gaining more experience in the process of shooting down 8 attackers (5 Martins) for the loss of a rookie who decided to fly like an idiot.
Annoyingly a recon bird detected the fleeing ship from Singapore heading up the Malcca Strait but the commander on the scene decided not to attack. I shot him later in the day for being an idiot.
Also a large portion of Singapore's air contingent has fled. Good ol Percy eh Nik? Fleeing in ships and aircraft and leaving the poor squaddies to get mowed down by my men [;)]
----------------------
Land War -
Several more invasion took place over the 2 days. More of the Bismark Archipelago is under my control:
Emirau Islands
Sag Sag
Finschafen
Buin
Wewak (Allied sub detected nearby. Will get spanked soon)
Also taken was Ormoc in the Phillipines.
Landings at Pontianak (will fall tomorrow)
Also. Percy ran away from Johore Bharu after further fortification were overuun. Forget God Save the Queen (King at that time tho buttdemus). God Save Percy and his band of merry men.
Singapore will soon be like the surface of the Moon.
No movement in China. Burma area is coming more under my control. Approaching Mandalay.
--------------------
Air losses:
Allied: 16 (8 A2A over Borneo)
Japanese: 8
