RE: The untold story of the Battle of Ndini
Hi all,
A 4 day update this time........
--------------
Sea War -
Nik sent in CL Tromp (Nik?) + 4 DD's to attempt to intercept a transport convoy at Singkawang. I did wonder if he'd try. Hence these ships were empty with CL/DD cover.
The ensuing night battle led to the US Flush decker Parrott being sunk by CL Kashima. Also the DD Bulmer was left heavily listing. Minor damage was sustained to CL Isuzu and CL Kashima.
---------------------
Air War -
Attacks have continued on Singapore with the usual light damage and heavy flak.
Also Nik pulled out of Clark (as expected) and fled like a dog to Manuila. Over the past 2 days Mediums from Aparri attacked Manila from 22K feet. FLAK IS DEADLY at MANILA. Strangely enough Manila was 1 place I ad not tested before and with evrery uinit in Luzon there it is like hell. As such I have decided and told IJA that every priisoner captured there...................
Just to give you an idea I lost 9 Mediums over there today
LBA from Kuching hit the retiring DD Bulmer and Sallies found their mark putting 4 bombs into the burning wreck. She was seen sinking as they left the scene............
------------------
Land war -
The major invasion over the past few days was the capture of Kendari by IJA units. Excellent. Nells and Zeros will be on scene to supervise........
Men are advancing on Manila.
33rd and 55th Divisions have reached Mandalay. 6 or so Brit Bde's have been detected. They will be smashed soon enough. Scum.
I have messed up somewhere else and am annoyed about it. I thought I would try a different disposition for a change and sent a HQ and division elsewhere. It will affect things by about a month. Curses......
-----------------
Air losses over 4 days:
Allied: 4
Japanese: 27 (about 18 to flak).

Macarthur protested turning Manila into Manilagrad and didn't get the joke when uttered by General Nik. (well it is only early 42!)
When his protestations became too much, i had him gagged and bound and tossed into a broom closet. Some muffled words can occasionally be heard from the closed door, sounds like
"IEEEE VILLLZ BEFIRMMMMZMFFF"

RE: The untold story of the Battle of Ndini
Hi all,
RL has made me busy over the past week. A shame since Nik's air boys suffered at my merciless hands over the 28/29th January 1942.........
---------------
Sea War -
None to note.
---------------
Air War -
The usual attacks in the Phillipines with my LBA hitting Manila's airfields for little damage at 25K.
Singapore is to be a siege. The Commonwealth £$^$%$& there will be little more than rags of men by the middle of 42. Today the IJA presence at Johore targetted Sings Resource manufacturing facilities heavily damaging them..........in total 108 LBA flew to hit the target.
In Burma. Nik's Blen IF's tried once more to hit Rangoons airfields at Night. We have reports a local Pagoda was shot up.......
The IJA troops at Mandalay were aided from the air by Betties and Lillies from Rangoon. A pathetic force of 4 Hurricanes was flying CAP. The escorting Zero's despatched 4 over the course of 2 days. Flak was heavy though and 9 LBA were shot down at 15K.
At Singkawang Allied LBA from Batavia tried to hit shipping there. The 11th Ftr Sentai flying Oscars had a field day and shot down 10 Brewsters on 28th January 1942 [8D]
Further south in the Java Sea an IJN carrier presence was attacked by LBA from Java. All attacks were pathetic and beaten off. A proud day for the IJN. 2 B17C Flying Fortress were blown to pieces high over the CV's. A taste of the action:
Day Air attack on TF at 28,68
Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 79
Allied aircraft
Martin 139 x 2
B-17C Fortress x 5
Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 7 damaged
Allied aircraft losses
Martin 139: 2 destroyed
B-17C Fortress: 1 destroyed, 3 damaged
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on TF at 28,68
Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 79
Allied aircraft
Hudson I x 4
Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 3 damaged
Allied aircraft losses
Hudson I: 2 destroyed
Japanese Ships
CL Oi
Aircraft Attacking:
2 x Hudson I bombing at 5000 feet
------------------------
Land War -
At Singapore the land luggers lobbed shells at each other. Allied casualties were predicted at 1500 men and 6 guns vs 380 and 13 guns on the Japanese side.
Men are Marching on Manila as we speak.
At Mandalay the IJA attacked on the 28th but were repulsed by the entire commonwealth presence (bar a couple of Indian Divisions) in Burma:
Ground combat at Mandalay
Japanese Deliberate attack
Attacking force 43933 troops, 476 guns, 31 vehicles
Defending force 30563 troops, 304 guns, 15 vehicles
Japanese assault odds: 0 to 1 (fort level 3)
Japanese ground losses:
869 casualties reported
Guns lost 22
Vehicles lost 2
Allied ground losses:
411 casualties reported
Guns lost 11
Other than that both Sarmi and Buru Island were taken over the course of the 2 days.

Hi Elf,
Not 1 was lost over the 2 days. Only the 11th Ftr Sentai (average exp of 80ish) was in action which kicked the Brewsters to Amsterdam and back. I'll post the total losses soon showing how the Ki-43 has fared.
Regards,
Steven
P.S. death to Nik

RE: The untold story of the Battle of Ndini
Hi all,
An action packed couple of days...........
--------------
Sea War -
SS I-122 was ordered to the port of Benkolen whwere an enemy TF was reported to be harbouring. In the early hours of the morning she found the already damaged AP Van Nes. A spread of fish was sent towards her. 3 hit and the AP quickly succumbed [8D]
-------------
Air War -
Here's the real McCoy for the 2 days.......
KB had been moving up past the east side of Java to find enemy shipping nad to nullify any enemy air power in the area. As expected the Allied tried to throw the kitchen sink at KB but to no avail.
The air combats were furious and several enemy bombers evaded the CAP and attacked the CV's. Their only reward was a bomb hit on Hiryu which die 2 SYS damage [8D]
Despite the leakers rthe experienced Zero pilots performed well. 80 enemey aircraft were lsot to all causeds today. Here's snippets of the intense air action:

Fierce air battles off Java
ABDA command released news today of fierce Allied air counterattacks conducted against Japanese enemy carrier forces traversing through the Java sea. Despite fierce resistance from the enemy combat air patrols, Allied bomber crews pressed home their attacks scoring several hits against the enemy warships including one enemy carrier...the near miss hit seen to drench the enemy carrier. A battleship was also reported struck by at least two bombs and was left burning fiercing topside.
Particularily brave were the T-IV floatplane torpedo bomber pilots. Regrettably no hits from either their bombs or torpedoes scored.
Allied forces also report the sinking of two intruder Iboats, one skulking about a dutch harbor.

RE: Fierce air battles off Java
2 I-boats lost?!?[X(] Propaganda. I-122 has reported in since after sinking Van Nes (I wish[;)])
A fun couple of days. To the readers it exemplifies 100% the effects of Nik's great Mod. Check out the Air combat near Java. It was BLIMMING intense watching it.
***Biased hat off***
Despite having 70ish Zero's on CAP you are NOT safe from enemy LBA attack (I knew this would be the case from testing Nik's mod). It is real intense watching the boys come into attack.
***Biased hat on***
B*llocks Ise is just fine. No friendly ship hit over these 2 days was seriously damaged except the sinking of an I-Boat.
Phase 1b landings are to carry on soon. Manila has been reached by the IJA. Sing is under siege (lots of starving men soon). The rest of the DEI will be under my yoke within 4 months I predict.
P.S. Death to Nik

RE: Fierce air battles off Java
bah....Allied bomber pilots confirmed that Ise was burning and listing. Bomb probably penetrated a vent and touched off a boiler. Allied bomber crews reported 17 enemy Zeros downed with a further 8 probables. Fighter pilots submitted claims of 12 enemy fighters downed with another 6 probable. The Japanese northward retreat from the Java sea would seem to confirm the validaty of these claims.
