Gili Gili retaken, 2 CV's lost in trade for 1 enemy CV confirmed sunk + 3 more crippled and out of action for the forseable future. CV Saratoga has arrived to reinforce my two remaining carriers. Facing me are up to three enemy CV's (Shokaku, Zuikaku and Junyo + a couple CVL's) Fairly even odds. Coupled with the massive Japanese plane losses, i'm confident that PM can be held.

Had an ok time in Spain. Was good to see the folks but only in short doses.
Great stuff Nik. As always the Mod produces good results.
Hope all had a good Christmas. Should be able to get a turn around within a day or 2 (new years eve today = major celebration [8D])

On both the 23rd and 24th February 1942 progress was made on the ground by IJA forces at Palembang. THe vital oil production centre is expected to fall over tthe next 2 days.....
Ground combat at Palembang
Japanese Deliberate attack
Attacking force 15491 troops, 130 guns, 0 vehicles
Defending force 4469 troops, 38 guns, 3 vehicles
Japanese assault odds: 3 to 1 (fort level 2)
Japanese Assault reduces fortifications to 1
Japanese ground losses:
88 casualties reported
Guns lost 2
Allied ground losses:
70 casualties reported
Guns lost 6
Vehicles lost 1
The above ground actions were largely supported by IJN heavy units on the night of the 23rd. 2 x BB divisions moved offshore and pounded the defenders for hours. The men were hard hit:
Naval bombardment of Palembang, at 20,55 - Coastal Guns Fire Back!
2 Coastal gun shots fired in defense.

The usual bombing occured at Manila and Singapore with the Allied flak proving terrible at Manila, even at 22,000 feet. I lost over 10 Sallies in 2 days..........

SS I-157 was prowling on the west Indian coast and stumbled into a large convoy of AK's and TK's with numerous escorts. Several British escorts located my sub and 5 DC's hit home. She is returning home for repair.........

I do have plans afoot but with Nik watching I can't disclose.......
A VERY INTERSTING piece of info was reported by a sub deep in the Pacific 100's miles north of PH:
SBD Dauntless sighting report: 1 Japanese ship at 113,54 , Speed 11 , Moving West

no...once out of sync...you need to do those steps to get it back into play. Your using 1.602? uh oh...well i'm using 1.795. There's also been talk that straffing missions can cause an out of sync but i can't confirm it as of yet.
