SOPAC OPS ZONES

Post by CarnageINC »

ORIGINAL: Smeulders

Maybe the problem is that your fighters are too high ? Not sure how the air combat routine works, but it might be that he is getting good shots at your fighters because he can bounce because of the height advantage and afterwards no more damage gets done because all fighters are too high (and thus have low manoeuvre) to do any damage. Going lower would mean you still give him the bounce, but at least later on your at altitudes where you can fight back.

Not sure if it will actually work, but at 20-0 it seem time to experiment a bit.

And somehow I feel I should have put this on some sort of official form.

Yes I quite agree with your analysis. This last turn I did manage to knock down 2 oscars for 3 P-40's and a Hurricane. Once I've gathered some strength back I will try to bring them down to see if they stay down, but from the prior build up to this event we tangled quite a bit before. The first page of this AAR has a similar report. But I agree the score says it time to try something new. And Flt. Lt Smeulders will get the report on it [;)]

Now for the map below, my area's for fleet operations are laid out. Critical Action Zone will mean a scramble of my carrier strength at Sydney to intercept any amphibious landing below 'the line'.
In the north I plan on probing his forward progress with the 12 Destroyers based out of Darwin. See if I can catch some of his smaller invasion forces.
The Port Moresby Resupply is just that, a mad dash to PM to drop off supplies and reenforcements.

Just noticed my only ace was missing, must of disappeared in the last air action over Rangoon days ago. I haven't launched any fighters for 4 days now. [:(]

Rain delays over Burma cause my new fighter strength to remain untested.

Going to launch a limited British carrier campaign to capitalize on knowing where those pesky Jap carriers are...details to follow in a day or so.

Great AAR! Sorry for the late arrival.

I wonder how much time you invest into this AAR compared to time playing...

Daring to take on Hakko Ichiu!
Do you already see great differences from scen #1 or #2 re speed of advance?

Vice Admiral Willis Briefing Room Aboard CV Indomitable

"You may be seated gentlemen....ensign remove the curtain"
[X(]
"Yes gentlemen you are correctly seeing that this operation plans on taking the fight to that slanty eye Hirohito and his 'Imperial Navy' since we know for certain that his main carrier strength is in the Solomon's and his lighter units are in Japan for repairs."
"This is a limited campaign to throw off the enemies time tables for landings...a smash and dash"
"First off we will launch limited strikes at Points A, B, and C. At Point A and B we will not venture farther northward than indicated. Only on Point C can we go up to but not beyond Balikpapan. And then off to Soerabaja to refuel the fleet and return to Colombo"
"At no time will we risk any of the fleet components in surface action against our counter parts"
"God bless the Queen and her Majesty's Royal Navy we will prevail victorious!"

Thanks for tuning in LaBaron. I honest have only played the Guadal scenerio and this one. I've noticed a big difference in power versus the original WITP. Treznor is much more aggressive and better planned for this one, he should get a big chunk of the pacific before I can do anything to stop him. Should be a knock down drag out fight in late 42 early 43.

Mean while.....aboard CV Indomitable......

Sir, communications for the fleet has just come over the wire....

Smashing great news, the hunt is on!

Chinese Front

Post by CarnageINC »

Thank you Kaleun for pick up the papers [;)]

I'm behind my schedule of events, the next turn has come out but I wanted to post one last 'Chinese Front' picture. I find that they are nice to look at but real are not that useful in telling where the actual front lines are versus the game map. So if I do any future installments of 'Chinese Front' will be done on the AE map if I can find a nice large one to work with.

Oh my, I messed up something last turn or before that with my British carrier force. Had them going the wrong way so my little attack is now behind schedule [:@]

Yes, it gets worst now. The bloody TF ran out of fuel because I was full throttle to get back on schedule![8|]

Japs quit sweeping Rangoon just in time, only had maybe 16-18 operational out of a potential 74 fighters. No complaints here ran out of replacements! Now that Japs are in Rangoon, moving the fighters north just in case I loose the city.
I slipped up with Maryland, got to relaxed with her screening cargo TF to PM and that bitch Betty got her. 7 torps and down she went. [:@]

I finally got the British carriers to strike something! They have had a hard time of it. I think this is just a quick hit and run before any 'betty's' find them. Maybe it make Treznor split his carrier force.

Howdy all, I'm just throwing this up for any who care...how vain of me [:'(]. Real life will slow our game, Treznor is out of town for work for a few weeks and may be able to send a turn in every few days....maybe. So I guess I will get a short AE vacation for a while.

See you all soon [;)]

A few weeks turned into a few months!  Treznor seems to be deployed overseas indefinitely (B1 pilot) why and where I'm not sure, they usually just fly missions from here to Iraq and Afgan.  So this AAR will end for now, when he gets back maybe it will continue.

I got an email from my old friend Treznor.  He is doing some forward air controlling stuff overseas so I will not be continuing my AAR until around December timeframe.  I sure do miss doing my AAR, so I'm mopping about it [:(].
